The present invention relates to a packing for mass transfer and / or heat exchange between a liquid and a gas.
About. Packing includes multiple sheets with corrugations parallel to each other, sheets
The corrugations define the boundaries of the grooves at, and sheets with adjacent corrugations cross in the groove direction.
The corrugations of each sheet have a height H and a width B.
Generally such packings are known per se. Has a sinusoidal waveform
In the case of a sheet, a value close to 1 is applied to the height of the waveform, while
Is generally applied to a value close to the number π. In such a relationship
, Π and 1 are generally in cm. In this kind of packing, adjacent
The corrugated sheets (or corrugated sheets) are usually arranged crossing each other,
Grooves intersect each other with corrugated sheets to define a boundary, the so-called boundary surface is two intersections
The groove is formed at a position where the opening sides of the grooves intersect each other. Grooves crossing each other
The gas flows flowing in different directions through each other contact each other at the interface. flow
The pressure drop on the packing as a result of the fluid resistance experienced by the flowing gas
On the other hand, due to the fluid resistance experienced by the gas flow at the interface with the corrugated sheet,
The consequences of flow effects formed at interfaces termed flow-like interface effects
As well as by resistance. What can be considered in such a relationship
Means that if the H / B ratio is too high, the gas phase does not mix well, or
It is not mixed very much. Therefore, the ratio of the height of the waveform to the width of the waveform
Is less than 0.3-0.5, ie H / B ≦ 0.3-0.5 is actually used
You. In order to keep such packing pressure drop relatively small,
The vertical corrugated sheet has a groove direction of about 30 degrees with respect to the vertical line.
angle
, But this angle does not actually exceed 45 degrees. The reason for this is
Fluid drag on the packing when the angle of the groove direction to the straight line is (significantly) large
Is quite large.
The object of the present invention is to provide an improved type of the preamble of claim 1.
Is to provide packing.
The purpose is that the ratio of the height H to the width B of the waveform satisfies the formula H / B ≧ 0.75.
This is achieved according to the present invention. When the ratio of H / B increases, the so-called boundary
The effect of increasing fluid resistance is reduced. Average distance of gas from the interface
Is increased at these positions with a larger H / B ratio. I
However, when the H / B ratio is increased, the gap between the sheet per groove and the gas flow
Because the contact surface is larger, the so-called interface effect in the fluid resistance as a result
This decrease is due to the increase in fluid resistance that occurs at the interface between the corrugated sheet and the gas flow.
Offset by However, surprisingly, the fluid resistance at the contact surface
Increase in the size of the interface (incidentally,
Out of the total benefits of
And other anticipated disadvantages occur very little. A surprisingly beneficial effect is H /
It has already been found that it is clear at the ratio B ≧ 0.75, but H / B ≧
Starting with clearly proving itself at a rate of 1, especially H / B ≧ 2
It is clear in the percentage. If the value of H / B is too high, turbulence effects and
And / or due to the drawbacks associated with the effects of fluid resistance, the fluid surface
Since it has a slit-like shape, the upper limit is actually H depending on the type of the waveform vertical cross section.
It becomes clear that the ratio of / B is imposed. Furthermore, especially non-square, for example cylindrical
If the container is shaped, the number of sheets needed to fill the container properly
Is the smallest.
Triangular, trapezoidal or square, especially in the case of corrugated metal sheets
It is advantageous for the present invention, for cost reasons, to have This
This is because a longitudinal section of this kind, especially a triangular corrugated section, can be made from sheet metal or
By bending the plastic sheet, it can be manufactured relatively easily.
You. However, for reasons of fluid technology, it is almost sinusoidal, preferably completely sinusoidal
Corrugated sheets having a corrugated longitudinal cross section are often selected in practice for the present invention.
You.
When forming a packing of the type described in the preamble, the packing according to the invention
Also in the case of coating, an important parameter is a so-called specific surface area, and the unit is m.Two
/ MThreeHaving. This specific surface area is actually
The contact surface of the sheet. The practically widely used values for this so-called specific surface area are:
About 125m-1, About 200m-1, About 250m-1, And about 500m-1It is.
Assuming that a certain surface area is required, the desired or defined B and H
Expediently forms a solution to the following equation, which can be solved numerically, for the present invention.
From this equation, for a given surface area, the relationship between B and H can be plotted in a two-dimensional plot.
Can be displayed as a curved line.
Corrugated sheets are arranged essentially vertically to obtain the optimal liquid flow over the packing
If so, it is convenient for the present invention.
According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, at least one or more corrugated sheets have a grooved shape.
The orientation is arranged at an angle of about 45 degrees with respect to the vertical. Preferably, at least one or more
The upper corrugated sheet has a groove direction of about 55 to 65 degrees with respect to a vertical line, for example, about 60 degrees.
At an angle. Since the fluid resistance of the packing exhibits a very high value,
Such an angle of orientation may be due to the packing of corrugated sheets of the prior art.
You can't really get it. However, the relatively high H / B ratio for the present invention
In some cases, the angle of the groove direction with respect to the vertical may be greater, up to about 70 degrees.
It can be seen that it is possible to The advantage of a larger angle in the groove direction relative to the vertical
Between the upward gas flow through the packing and the downward liquid flow over the packing
Is obtained by this means. Compared to prior art
In the context of the present invention, the groove direction is an angle smaller than 45 degrees with respect to the vertical,
It has been pointed out that a very advantageous effect can be obtained even with an angle of 5 degrees.
I have to. Due to such a small angle, the packing on the present invention
The pressure drop is lower than with conventional packing.
At the edge adjacent to the wall or wall section at the transition from one groove to the other
Packing is corrugated inside the container to limit the flow resistance of the gas in the
Arranged so that the groove extending between the opposing walls or between the wall cross sections delimits
Waveform, especially when the groove is at a relatively large angle to the vertical.
If a hole is formed at the end of the groove adjacent to the wall section, the present invention
This is convenient. Such holes allow the fluid gas to cross from one groove to the other
Facilitates passage into the directional grooves. In particular, relatively large cross-sections or circles
For containers having a relatively large diameter in the case of cylindrical containers, such edges are wall
It extends preferably from 10 to 20 cm from the surface and relates to the so-called specific surface area. This function
In this connection, a relatively large cylindrical container is considered to have a diameter of 1 m or more.
In the case of relatively small containers, in particular, such edges may be about 10% of the width / depth of the container.
Extends over a distance of 20% and in the case of a cylindrical container about 10% of the diameter of the container
Extends over a distance of 2020%. For a preferred embodiment, the holes have at least two holes.
mm, preferably having a diameter of at most 20 mm or of a non-circumferentially shaped hole.
In some cases, it has the same fluid area as above.
The present invention is described in more detail with reference to the drawings. In the figure:
Figure 1 shows a triangular wavy profile with some parameters detailed.
Indicated by
FIG. 2 is a diagrammatic perspective view of a part of the packing of the invention consisting of four layers.
FIG. 3 is a diagrammatic view of the container of the present invention, shown partially in cross-section.
FIG. 4 diagrammatically shows one waveform having a sinusoidal waveform longitudinal section.
FIG. 5 shows a plot of the H / B relationship of a sinusoidal waveform longitudinal section.
FIG. 6 shows a highly diagrammatic representation of the test setup.
FIG. 1 diagrammatically shows a triangular waveform cross section having a waveform height H and width B. wave
The height H and width B of the shape are the same as those of the sinusoidal waveform shown in FIG.
It is clear that it can be determined.
FIG. 2 shows, by way of example, a packing according to the invention in highly diagrammatic form.
The packing is, for example, a sheet having four layers of corrugations (also called a corrugated sheet).
), Each sheet having a triangular corrugated longitudinal section. About corrugated sheet 2
Each corrugated sheet 2 defines the boundaries of a number of grooves extending transversely to the direction of corrugation G.
It is clear that. The groove 6 opening downward or the groove 7 opening upward is
, A groove direction K extending in the direction of the waveform G. In the example of FIG.
It is clear that the seat 3 is identical to the corrugated sheet 2 except for the direction. But
However, as will be apparent to those skilled in the art, as far as the essence of the invention is concerned, the corrugated sheet 2
And the corrugated sheet 3 do not need to be the same except for the direction.
The ports need not be identical to each other. As far as the nature of the invention is concerned, G and K
It is not important to be perpendicular to
As is clear from FIG. 2, the groove 7 opening upward and the groove 6 opening on the bottom surface are
At the point of intersection, an imaginary boundary surface 4 defining the groove boundary at this position is formed.
You. Further, when the gas flows through the groove of the adjacent sheet, at the position of the interface 4
An interface effect occurs, which generally has the opposite effect on the fluid resistance of the packing.
It is clear that it has utility. In addition, the gas flow passing through the packing
And receives another fluid resistance in contact with the heat sink itself.
In the present invention, the ratio of the height H of the waveform to the width B of the waveform is ≧ 0.75.
When values are fitted, there is an overall improvement in fluid resistance in packing.
It is. In particular, when the ratio of H / B is ≧ 1 or more, a great advantage is obtained.
It is clear that when the ratio of H / B is ≧ 2, an even greater advantage can be obtained.
You.
The embodiment according to FIG. 3 shows a container according to the invention with a packing 1 according to the invention.
You.
In this type of container, the liquid is packed at the top via the spray device 10
Sprinkled on top. This liquid flows down over the surface of the corrugated sheet and a liquid film
Formed on the surface of the sheet. Gas is supplied to the bottom of the packing and this gas is
It flows upward through the packing in countercurrent to the body (film). liquid
The transition between gas and gas takes place during the countercurrent flow. Gas passing through packing
It is also clear that the flow of liquids and liquids is selective in co-current or cross-flow.
Is. The packing of the present invention can also benefit from co-current and cross-flow
.
With this setup, the corrugated sheet of Packing 1 has the groove direction K corresponding to the vertical line.
And are arranged vertically at an angle greater than essentially 50 degrees (however,
Angles less than 50 degrees are also available, providing significant advantages in the present invention
). The lower packing 11 is also arranged below the upper packing 1. Upper packing
In case 1, the groove direction makes an angle of about 60 degrees with the vertical. Lower pack
In the case of King 11, the groove direction makes an angle of about 45 degrees with respect to the vertical,
This angle may in some circumstances be less than 45 degrees with respect to the vertical, for example 30 degrees.
The angle may be degrees. The so-called "flooding" problem is that vertical packing 11
This is solved by making the angle of the groove direction to the line smaller. In this relationship
Water is a state in which water droplets float from the bottom of the packing,
It is considered to mean that it is easily suspended and carried by the gas flow to the air. Floating
The phenomenon of water droplets in the closed state is that the grooves in the lower part of the packing are arranged at steeper angles.
It is solved by placing. Bottom of packing to eliminate flooding
Positioning the groove at a steeper angle means that the ratio of H / B is relatively large.
Used regardless of the relatively large angle of the groove direction of the upper packing 1
Obviously, it will be used. However, it is advantageous with respect to the present invention.
If a relatively large angle in the groove direction with respect to the vertical is used, in particular 50
The so-called flooding problem at the bottom of the packing for angles in the range of degrees to about 70 degrees
The title gets worse.
FIG. 3 is further understood by the edges adjacent to the wall or cross-section of the container.
The rollers are shown. In this figure, the edges are indicated by R, the size of R generally being
About 10-20 cm for containers with a diameter of 1 m or more, smaller
About 10% to 20% of the diameter for containers having a large diameter. Corrugated sheet yes
Holes 5 are formed at the so-called edges, which reduce the fluid resistance of the packing.
In order for the gas to incline at one edge from one groove in one direction to the other
To make it easier to pass into the crossing groove. For the present invention,
Especially when the angle of the groove direction is relatively large, the packing having such holes 5
It is convenient to have an edge.
In the case of a corrugated sheet having a sinusoidal longitudinal section, a specific surface area ApOr
Starting with this, the manner in which the values of B and H are determined is illustrated with respect to FIGS. 4 and 5 below.
It is.
A sinusoidally folded sheet is described by the following parameters:
The length of a small section of the sheet (see FIG. 4) is expressed as follows:
Starting from equation (1), dy and dx are described as follows:
Substituting equation (3) into equation (2) gives:
The integral of equation (4) is
Given the total length of the sheet, the specific surface area A according to the following equation (6)pYes for the decision
Is for:
Ap, The relationship according to equation (6) indicates that B as a function of H
Can be determined numerically, or vice versa, to find H as a function of B
Is also possible. FIG.pIs 250m-1Indicates the relationship between B and H
You. This curve is denoted by F. The straight line H = 0.75B is also shown in FIG.
Looking at the intersection between the straight line H and the curve F, the intersection is slightly above the point on the curve F closest to the origin.
It can be seen that it is located toward. Here, the origin is the point of H = 0 and B = 0.
It is believed that there is.
Referring to equation (6) and FIG.pThe curve when is another value is based on FIG.
It is also clear that it is formed in a simple way. For example, Ap= 500m-1Song
The line is easily obtained by dividing all the values of B and H in FIG. 5 by two. ApBut
100m-1, All values of B and H in FIG. 5 must be multiplied by 2.5.
Absent. As will be appreciated by those skilled in the art, ApCurves with different values are determined according to that value.
Is determined.
Using a test setup as shown highly diagrammatically in FIG.
Many experiments were performed in which the packing of the present invention was
Was compared toExperiment I
In the first experiment, six packing units labeled 21 and 22
Are placed on top of each other to form a cylindrical container with a diameter of 19.2 cm. this
In the experiment, each of the packing units 21 and 22 was vertically positioned so as to be parallel to each other.
Consisting of a number of corrugated sheets arranged in As shown diagrammatically in FIG.
The corrugated sheets 21 and 22 of the docking unit are arranged perpendicular to each other. Packing
In each case, the groove direction of each sheet should be
At an angle of 45 degrees. The wave profile in this experiment is essentially triangular
The triangle has a height H and a width B as shown diagrammatically in FIG. other
For this point, two test setups are used, but each setup
Are shown in the table below. As can be seen from Table I, for each packing, the so-called specific surface area is Ap= 2
50m-1Is set to H / B ratio of 0.49, setup
II has a H / B ratio of 1.13, and H and B relative to H / B are shown in FIG.
Can be read from the plot. Air has a so-called surface gas velocity UgAre sequentially 1, 2,
At 3 and 5 m / s supplied by setups I and II. This air
Goes from bottom to top through the packing arranged in the cylinder with respect to FIG.
Supplied. The pressure drop on the cylinder in this experiment was due to the setup and surface gas
The speed is measured in each case. In this connection, the surface gas velocity Ug
(In m / s) is the mean fluid velocity of air with respect to the cross-sectional area of the cylinder.
Where the cross-sectional area is 289.53 cmTwoIt is. For this experiment, this ring
The air drawn from the boundary is at atmospheric pressure at a temperature of 20 degrees. In this experiment
The measurement results are shown in Table II below.
From the experimental measurement data in Table II, the packing of the present invention (Setup II
) Is typically about 25% lower than the pressure drop in Setup I
It can be seen that it has a bottom.Experiment II
Experiment II was run using the same setups I and II used for Experiment I.
Was done. The difference in this case is that the set shown in FIG.
Water film on top of packing by spraying water on top
Is also introduced. The amount of water W is here kg / s / mTwoExpressed in other words
Is water in kg per second sprayed on the cross-sectional area of the cylindrical container.
The cross-sectional area of the cylindrical container is about 289.5 cm as described above.TwoIt is. Experiment
In II, packing pressure is 800 Pa / m pressure drop per meter
The resulting surface gas velocity Ug is based on three quantities of water W per setup
It has been determined. The results obtained in this experiment are shown in Table III.
From Table II, according to Setup II, before a pressure drop of 800 Pa / m is obtained
A gas rate 25% higher than that is acceptable. This is approximately due to the packing of the present invention.
A capacity of 25% higher throughput will result in a given pressure drop, in this example 800 Pa / m
Means achievable.
