Substrate having hidden image and method of expressing hidden imageRelated application
This application is a provisional application filed March 3, 1997, filed under 35 USC 119 (e).
Patent application No. 60 / 040,001 "Method of displaying hidden image on paper" priority
Claim the right. The entire disclosure of this provisional application is incorporated herein by reference.
Background of the InventionField of the invention
The present invention relates to hidden hidden images such as game cards and lottery tickets.
A substrate having a surface. Print invisible marks or areas on paper substrates
In many cases, it is desirable to express these regions by a simple method. education
Relationship forms, security documents, Rotary tickets and promotional (promo
In the production of game cards such as game cards, there is such a demand.Conventional technology
Common hidden images and related techniques are found in game cards.
Such game cards include hidden play marks. This mark indicates that the card is
Or a number that indicates whether the player has
, Symbols and messages. Play signs are usually opaque coatings
It is covered with members. For example, it is a latex mixture.
After he gets this, he cuts it off and reveals his seal.
The important thing for the game card industry, especially the instant lottery industry, is safety
Sex. One way to compromise the security of game tickets is to use candling (candl
ing). In other words, shine a bright light on the game card,
Is trying to read the play mark through the back of the ticket. Candlin
A number of techniques have been developed to combat this. Gaming a metal foil layer such as aluminum foil
For example, it is used as a part of a ticket. This layer of metal foil blocks visible light
Thus making it virtually impossible to read the markings for play through the opaque coating.
However, the use of a metal foil layer has a number of significant disadvantages. High cost,
It is a matter of recycling.
Another way to prevent candling is to add confusion to the ticket.
To print an image. If visible light is illuminated through the game card,
Miscellaneous patterns can obscure or confuse the playing marks. For this reason, latte
Making it difficult or impossible to read the mark before removing the cover. Messy
The turn may be printed on the back of the rotary ticket. Messy paws on the back of the ticket
A printed turn may help prevent candling, but
There are other ways to compromise the safety of the ket. For example, a random putter on the back of the ticket
The security secured by printing the application can be overridden by delamination. Messy
The back surface layer of the ticket including the appropriate layer is separated or separated from the ticket. Once peeled
When it is done, you can read the sign by candling.
A random pattern consisting of irregular opaque areas can be
Also print on the top of the mark. Another method is photocopying through an opaque mask
To prevent this, a random pattern is printed on the play mark. This is a play
When the player strips off the opaque mask, the random pattern obscures the markings for play
This is done using a transparent medium or a medium having a color different from the color of the play mark. Then the other rebellion
A miscellaneous pattern is printed on the card member immediately below the play mark. The disadvantage of this method
One is that if the upper clutter pattern is not completely transparent, the game card will be safe.
It is clear that this pattern exists for those considering ways to infect
And Further, the upper random pattern contributes to prevention of candling.
There are few places.

Know before removing the ting. One method to prevent wicking is solvent reactive dyeing.
Is to put the ingredients into the opaque coating.
Improperly read hidden images using even more unusual methods. For example,
Using a microscopic photometer with a computer controlled stepping stage,
The differences in optical properties between inks are clearly depicted. Reflected light (white and dark fields
Etc.) or transmitted light that has passed through a filter. By polarized light
Even clarify the differences between the inks. Other microscopic techniques can reveal differences
Make it easy. For example, a tunneling electron microscope (TEM), a scanning electron microscope (S

Furthermore, different ink compositions can be detected by observing the material absorption of X-rays.

Furthermore, materials such as depopulated vinyl, oil paper, and polyester are exposed to heat,
If you place it directly in contact with the ink on the back, you can remove enough dye to read the image.
Can be absorbed from the ink.
Any substrate with a hidden image, especially game cards or rotary tickets, etc.
Can counter many, if not all of these ways of improperly viewing hidden images

One feature common to these techniques for hiding images is to print printed messages.

Image change paper has three basic concepts. These are the later parts
Explained in more detail in minutes.
Several different (rear) ink printing techniques for makeover paper
Patterns printed with special inks can be printed in several formats
But not all here.
One technique for forming a hidden image at the back uses two inks (one moving ink
,
Others are permanent inks) printed in a dot pattern at a considerable interval between dots
I do. This is referred to herein as the "multi-ink dot printing technique." Rear is front
When activated, the front adhesive will contact all dots, but
Only the black dots develop and develop to show the image. Dot pattern is a uniform array
Or a random pattern to hide different inks.
Any color that matches the color may be used.
The second print pattern is called "transparent barrier ink printing technique". With this technique
Contains a design or pattern where the moving ink is printed in a uniform pattern on the substrate
A transparent barrier (coating) is printed thereon. When activated, the adhesive is
Only the transferred ink is contacted and the exposed ink is developed into an image.
Another printing technique uses one of the two methods described above.
And a transparent or colored confusion pattern overlaid and printed below
Hide the statue. Overprint inks are very thin or dilute and hinder moving ink
Absent. When activated, the adhesive creates an overprinted confusion pattern.
Through contact with the moving ink, an image appears on the adhesive.
Yet another printing technique uses either the first or second technique, plus
Transparent or solid colored coating (not confusion pattern)
Overprint and hide the image below. When activated, the adhesive (front) will dissolve (solvent)
This dissolution agent penetrates the top coating (hidden layer) and an image is formed on the adhesive.
Be received.
Yet another printing technique is to change the color when absorbed by the adhesive layer.
This is a method using a chemically reactive dye. These reactive dyes are colored
Or colorless. The dye may change color to react in the adhesive layer.
Because the chair or organic reactant diffuses from the adhesive into the ink printed on the back
The color may change.
Several different (front) forms of activation cover for makeover paper
Self-locking activation covers may take two basic forms.
One type of activation cover is a transparent cover, where the rear print is passed through the cover.
It can be seen. Another type of cover is a white or opaque cover
Yes, the print on the back is hidden from the observer.
The activation cover also helps to make the color change very fast, eg in minutes
An organic solubilizer (carrier) may be included. If the activated cover is a cured adhesive
Containing no organic solvent (carrier) or diffusion part
Not all printing techniques that require penetrating the printing barrier can be used.Several different time-lapse results of makeover paper
Image development simply presents hidden messages quickly within minutes ("hidden
Message action)) may be presented to the observer, or image development

Action)). Also, different parts of a single hidden message can be
It is also possible to appear in between.
Image change paper is produced by flexographic printing and offset printing press
Can be printed. Press used to print makeover paper or
It is highly desirable that the technology supply ink that dries quickly and possibly
Is necessary. If you need it, if it's transparent
As the set ink spreader spreads (flows) before it dries completely, it moves with it
(Migrating dye) moves and the image appears as each dot expands

When the paper is thin (20 #, 60 #), the uncoated (litho) thin
It has been shown to reveal hidden images on paper. Not coated
The reason why the image appears when the pre-printed paper is label stock is
When the vehicle penetrates the paper, it absorbs completely until it reaches the adhesive layer and liner.
This is because they cannot be accommodated and thus spread in the horizontal direction. Thick paper may have ink down
Absorbs and does not spread laterally.
Drying with heat has proven to be a problem. The reason is heated
This is because the spilled ink becomes less viscous and the image quickly appears on the back.
In addition, use thick (card) paper (8 mm or
The above prints have proven to be good enough. The reason is
This is because the ink permeates the paper and dries before the ink spreads in the horizontal direction. Thick car
Heat-drying on paper is not a problem.
Furthermore, printing on coated paper with offset oxidized ink is
It has been found that this can cause problems. The reason is that the ink vehicle is
This is because they are not absorbed in the paper material. Immediately after printing the image may not be visible
However, it appears as the ink flows within hours / days. Also, dry the ink with heat.
Upon drying, the image appears immediately.
The printing of make-up paper is dried by evaporation or UV drying (curing).
Flexographic printing technology for drying and offset printing using UV drying are sufficient.
Will be good in minutes.
Some inks do not work as well as other inks. Hardened
The ink that polymerizes or encapsulates the mobile dye within the print area. Desiccant (catalyst)
Or inks using other reactive components present difficulties. It is an organic filler such as a plasticizer.
May be overcome by using scattered molecules (carrier) in front adhesive
.
As for the front, pure acrylic adhesives are usually dyes from mobile inks
Dissolve within a few hours. Also, rubber adhesives dissolve mobile ink very slowly,
It can take days, weeks, or months to dissolve.
To develop an image within minutes, simply add a low molecular weight organic carrier to the adhesive
I do. Plasticizers are excellent carriers. These carriers dissolve dyes quickly.
Unravel and reveal color.
For example, a 1 mm acrylic layer may be used with 5% to 10% plasticizer.
. If you want to make the activator cover white, add 15-30% TiO2 (titanium oxide
) May be added. Generally, the adhesive is applied as a coating on the substrate
Is done. The actual time of image development will depend on the particular dye used. Each dye
In the materials, the speed and the color density are different. Time may be different plasticizer or other addition
It can also be controlled by using objects. The type of adhesive also changes the timing
Let
After activation, when image formation begins, the dye is transferred laterally across the adhesive.
Keep moving. The faster the image appears, the faster the lateral spread is
It becomes blurred. Two methods are used to prevent smearing. One person
The method is the use of a patterned adhesive, in which each separate adhesive dot is dyed.
Traps dye and prevents dye transfer to adjacent adhesive dots.HaasIssued to

A dye is used that has a chemical and covalent reaction with the adhesive directly above the image.
In the use of this reactive dye technique, all dyes used are subject to similar chemical
It is preferable to react or bond with the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer. So that the dye has enough color
Reacts slowly enough to produce development, moves at a similar speed,
Later it will be possible for the dye color to be appropriate and stable.
The color density of the dyes when using a transparent adhesive front is usually very strong. dye
If a white adhesive front is used, the color density is reduced by the TiO2 in the adhesive.
Be dismissed Dye color density is determined by using a transparent accelerating layer directly on the white adhesive.
Thus, it can be substantially increased. The dye moves into the accelerating layer, leaving TiO2.

The time delay before the image appears due to the moving ink, the image is detected first
Compared to the color change rate of the image from the point when the color development reaches 100%.
An example is clear. Therefore, the first occurrence of the image (detected
) Is 5 minutes after activation, usually reaching full color in about 10-20 minutes.
This transition time or "gray time" is typically short, for example, minutes or hours.
There is no problem if it is a period, but it is a big problem if the period is several weeks and months
. If the first appearance of the image is after one week, the color development can reach 50-100%.
It may take another 7 days. If this device is used for time effects,
It is difficult for the observer to determine if the elapsed time is 7, 8, or 9+ days
It is.
With multi-ink dot printing technology, the prints are separated by individual inks that appear indistinguishable.
This is implemented by a pattern of ink dots. Ink dots must be uniform or random
Can be printed in a simple pattern. There are two types of ink: permanent (non-moving) ink
And moving ink that develops the image. The inks are the same
It should consist of the same vehicle to achieve the abundance and reflection characteristics.
When the adhesive activated cover touches all the ink dots, the moving ink dots
Are enlarged and an increase in density and / or color change is observed as the dots enlarge.
It is. Use opaque covers to expand ink dots through opaque material
Can be seen.
As observed through the transparent adhesive PSA film, the dot print pattern is white (
(Light color). Dots are white in the transparent PSA film
Expand over space (fill-in) to increase apparent density.
Further, the dot print pattern may be printed on a black (dark color) background. On the spot
If the dot pattern must be observed through a white adhesive PSA film
No. The reason is that horizontal dot expansion over black space is not directly visible.
Because the only way to detect moving ink is through the white adhesive on the activation cover.
That is.
Color change (image appearance) occurs when the dye in the ink moves into the adhesive itself.
Occurs. Dye transfer can actually perform two functions.
1) The print dots are enlarged, and the enlargement increases the saturation of the print area (ie, the color becomes
Darkened); and
2) The mixed dye color of the printing ink is selectively absorbed by the adhesive, resulting in a color change.
appear. The ink includes mobile and non-mobile dyes. Mobile dye spreads over white space
The color is clearly distinguished from the color of the dot itself.
In dot printing, a thin dot pattern (saturation about 20%) has 8 dots around it.
It has 0% white area. Some dots are printed with permanent ink and others are transferred.
Printed with moving ink. Upon contact with the adhesive, the moving ink may
And diffuses (leaches) into the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer. The diffusion speed depends on: 1) Features
Fixed dye molecules themselves, 2) adhesive composition, and 3) dot size and their
Distance between. The closer the dots are, the faster the dots grow as they expand
Unite. Therefore, these images appear quickly. Dots are far apart
, The dots coalesce later and the image appears later.
Dot printing technology offers several unique advantages. In detail, the dots are different
Clear adhesive when printed at different sizes and at different intervals (with the same ink)
Can be used to make information appear at different speeds in the same film. Oh
A transparent film can be used instead of the pake film. Transparent fill
System allows for low cost film construction and different dyes at different dots
Multiple colors can be provided when using a charge.
In transparent barrier ink printing technology, the hidden image is the adhesive on the activation cover.
Formed by a transparent barrier that prevents the agent from contacting any mobile ink.
It is. Therefore, when the activation cover is actuated, the moving ink is exposed (not printed).
The area is developed into a visible image. Activation cover is transparent or white (opaque)
An adhesive may be used.
If you use a clear adhesive activated cover, the transfer ink will have a white space between the dots.
Must be printed as a dot pattern having So that the color
A white space to be developed is provided, and the white space is changed to a dark color. Against it
If the ink is printed as a solid (solid) color,
For observation, the activated cover must be opaque (white adhesive). Plain
When observing the color development against the ink, the contrast is low or no. Both
In some cases, the transparent barrier defines the image to be developed. White activation cover
When using a cover, the observer will initially see a blank white filter when the cover is placed on top of the print.
Only LUM can be seen. As the dye moves through the white adhesive, the front of the activation cover
You can see the "moving ink" image. White adhesive images are all uniform at the same time
Appear. By incorporating a barrier in the front adhesive, the transfer ink is blocked.
It can also be locked. Moving ink that passes through unblocked areas will
Generate the image. This allows for all diverse designs on the back to be printed
It is considered unrealistic compared to using.
Transparent barrier ink printing technology provides the following features.
1) Time is controlled solely by dye transfer within the activated cover adhesive. Dot
If the dot forms a dye transfer ink source, the dots continue to expand
Keep filling the white space between them;
2) A single color (moving) ink can be used, on which a single transparent barrier
(Overcoat) can be applied. Artwork registration with multiple ink dot technology
Easy to print and print;
3) Clear barrier printing appears at different time intervals (periods)
Images cannot be provided. Because all inks have the same speed (rate
Because people use several different dyes to print hidden images
Unless you do).
4) White adhesive changes color rapidly. And from the dot-marked image
Provide things with high contrast.
5) Opaque film is better than placing clear film on dot pattern
Provides a more attractive blank surface for image development. How to hide messages in Image Change Paper
Documents or data printed under the product packaging or on another surface inside
Use confusion printing to prevent scanning
Used. For example, a confusion pattern inside a commercial / pay envelope.
Prints the contents of the envelope from outside so that it cannot be read.

i) solid opaque ink
ii) Pattern-random, irregular or uniform
iii) partial coating3. Reactive dye
The following briefly describes each of these confusion techniques.1) Multi-ink dot printing technology for hiding images
Use dots of the same color, but use different inks / dyes within one dot pattern.
This makes it difficult to determine which ink dots contain mobile dyes (black dots).
Link solves the color matching problem). A domain created with a large white space

Help.2) Confusion pattern printing technology for hiding images
The confusion pattern prints the hidden image in one of the following ways:
hide. 1) Print solid opaque (colored) ink to cover the entire hidden image
And make sure nothing is visible at the bottom. 2) Irregular colored confu over the image
Confusion printed with irregular shapes and printed John shapes
Hide the moving ink of the hidden image inside the pattern. 3) The moving image used to generate the hidden image
Pattern that is more reflective than the contrast between ink and immobile ink
Print the button. In all of these hidden technologies, the passage of mobile dyes
Must be able to generate a visible image of the hidden image.
Uncovered hidden technology
This technique involves not coating the dye in the transfer ink or using dye in the transfer ink (key).
To prevent development by an active coating layer (with or without carrier).
Includes technology for hiding hidden images in fusion patterns.
1. Confusion pattern images with similar colors or bright reflection patterns
This makes the difference between the moving ink and the immobile ink unclear.
2. Print irregular colored confusion shapes around hidden images
Due to its irregular colored confusion pattern print inside
Hide the moving ink.
3. A confection with a greater reflectivity than the contrast difference between the moving ink and the immobile ink
Hide the image by printing the version pattern.
Hidden technology by coating
This technology uses an opaque coating or convection to cover the moving ink.
Includes technology for hiding hidden images in a new pattern.
The hidden image printed with moving ink is a solid that completely hides this hidden image
Opaque coating or confusion pattern of different shapes / inks
Cover the moving image so that nothing can be seen at the bottom of the
Can be. The latent image hidden under the obscuring layer leaves the active coating layer
The active (adhesive) coating layer is developed using organic diffusing molecules that allow the dye to pass through the concealing layer.
Imaged.3) Hidden technology using reactive dyes
This technique hides the dye in the same colored (colorless) ink, and in the active coating layer
Includes the technology that manifests this by reacting with a drug.
The reactive transfer dye hidden in the ink that reacts with the immobile ink is a chemical component of the adhesive
After reacting. After the reaction, the new shape of the mobile dye changes,
An image appears.Example of image hiding technology 1. Dots of the same color
By using dots of the same color, such as black, with different inks,
It becomes unclear whether the sample contains a mobile dye. This is because the large white spaces are different
This is to hinder the comparison between each other, and the large white space
This is because they tend to hide misregistration. By using black,
No strict color matching is required, and the black ink can hide different color dyes
All the printed dots look black because they can. Not a uniform array (
All dots are the same size) If you print an image with a dot pattern,
The difference in dot size can be hidden more easily. Generally, dot printing
Is performed on a white (bright) background at 40 dpi or less. For this reason, the transparent (cle
ar) The use of an adhesive active coating layer is possible, which means that each dot is better on a white background
It is to grow big.
2. Use a highly reflective confusion pattern on a matte dark background Technology
Highly reflective computer printed with dark ink on a black (dark) background
Fusion patterns are known to completely hide hidden messages. Bright
The confusion pattern appears in the eyes and blurs between the moving and immobile inks.
No edge is detected. Furthermore, these bright confusion patterns
The transfer dye is printed at a low solid density, so the transfer dye
It is also known to pass through the link. To do this, the background and all moving ink
It is required to be dark and have low reflectivity (matte). Dark background forward
It is preferable to use a white tacky active coating to
No.3. Technology for printing confusion patterns of similar colors on hidden messages
Traditional confusion that prints irregular patterns on hidden messages
Using the patterning technology, as long as the confusion ink is
Words and letters can be obscured by overprinting. This technique
The technique was that the confusion ink was kept in place as the dye passed through it
Conventional confusion pattern printing except that it is in direct contact with
The same as In addition, the active confusion pattern is
It is important that the layer must be formed of a white adhesive. Literally the active layer
"Extracts" hidden images from the mass of printing by means of mobile dyes.
Certain camouflage techniques are not currently preferred. For example, two identical colors
This is a technique for forming one solid image. Two in one solid pattern
It is almost impossible to print the same inks so that they cannot be distinguished from each other
Noh. In addition, perfect registration so that no edge effects are visible
It is also very difficult to do. For this reason, solid color printing is
It has no effect on hiding. Other techniques that are not preferred include one or more on a dark background.
This is a technique for printing the above ink.
By printing one or more dark inks on a dark background, printing with moving inks
You can camouflage the linted image. However, there is no reflection
Otherwise, you can see the print when viewed from a glancing angle. As another example
Prints a transparent barrier that is not completely visible over the moving ink.
Absent. A transparent barrier coating may not be completely visible,
By looking at the lint, you can see the unprinted area inside this coating
Would. The human eye has probably only a slight reflection of 0.5 to 1 percent
, It is very difficult to completely hide the image.
