Electrical connectors consisting of two halves mounted on a substantially parallel printed circuit board and mated together are known in the art. With the general trend toward miniaturization of electrical equipment, such connectors mounted on printed circuit boards have also been miniaturized, and there is a need for improved mechanical coupling strength of such connectors to the board. You. Therefore, in such a board-mounted type connector, it is attached to the board by a solder mount provided on the side wall of the housing, and is mounted on the surface of the board, for example, as in an electrical connector according to Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 7 (1995) -240246. Is done. Another method of fixing the solder mount to the connector is to embed a grounding contact in the side wall of the housing as in the connector according to Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 7 (1995) -94241. To increase the design freedom of such a small connector intended to be mounted on the surface of the board, it is necessary to provide an electrical connection for grounding between the solder mount of the plug connector and the solder mount of the receptacle connector. desired. That is, it is desired that the connector can be grounded from the solder mount on either side of the plug or the receptacle. The present invention provides a surface mounting method in which an electrical connection is provided between both solder mounts without hindering miniaturization of the connector, so that grounding can be performed from either the solder mount on the plug connector side or the receptacle connector side. It is an object to provide a mold connector. An electrical connector according to the present invention comprises two mating halves having a mount, wherein the mount of the first half of the connector has a contact tab and the mount of the second half has both connector halves. A spring arm contact that, when mated, contacts the contact tab of the first half, the spring arm contact being formed in a vertically formed through space in the housing of the mating half of the connector; It is characterized by being arranged to be flexible. Preferably, a support surface for the spring arm contact portion is formed in the open space. Further, it is desirable to form a guide surface on the spring arm contact portion, which starts to bend to the contact position when fitted with the complementary connector. Hereinafter, an embodiment of an electric connector according to the present invention will be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings. 1 to 3 are a plan view, a front view, and a side view of a receptacle assembly of an electrical connector according to an embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view of the above-described receptacle assembly taken along line 4-4 in FIG. 5 to 7 are a plan view, a front view, and a side view of a plug assembly according to an embodiment of the electrical connector according to the present invention. FIG. 8 is a cross-sectional view of the aforementioned plug assembly taken along line 8-8 in FIG. 9 and 10 are partial perspective views of the receptacle and the plug assembly, respectively. FIG. 11 is a perspective view of a solder mount having a spring arm contact portion for a receptacle housing. FIG. 12 is a perspective view of a solder mount having a contact tab for a plug assembly. 13 and 14 are enlarged views of a state before and after the spring arm contact portion and the contact plug come into contact when the receptacle assembly and the plug assembly are fitted. As a specific shape of the solder mount of the receptacle connector, a bridge portion that fits into a groove formed in the housing and supports the entire mount body, mounting wings for soldering formed at both ends thereof, and a bridge portion A spring arm contact portion having a U-shaped cross section formed at the center and a pair of press-fit tongue pieces formed between the spring arm contact portion and the mounting wing may be provided. As the specific shape of the mount of the plug connector, the bridge part that fits into the groove formed in the housing and supports the whole mount, the mounting wings for soldering formed at both ends thereof, and the center of the bridge part It may comprise a formed U-shaped contact tab and a pair of press-fit tongues formed between the contact tab and the mounting wing. In this electrical connector, the solder mount of the first half of the connector has a contact tab, while the solder mount of the second half of the connector contacts the aforementioned contact tab when the half is mated. It has a spring arm contact portion. The overall dimensions of the connector are reduced because the spring arm contacts can be positioned and flexed in a vertical through space formed in the housing of the second half of the connector, and the plug or receptacle connector Since the ground connection is made via any of the solder mounts, the connector can be designed with less restrictions. The inclined surface formed in the vertical through space supports the spring arm contact portion to prevent the composition from being deformed. Since the contact tab has a chamfered guide surface, when the connector is fitted, the spring arm contact portion starts to bend to the contact position, and the transition of the contact tab and the spring arm contact portion to the mutual connection state. It takes place very smoothly. As shown in FIGS. 1 to 4, a large number of contacts 14 are arranged in a housing 10 of a receptacle connector assembly 10 (hereinafter simply referred to as a receptacle assembly), and holding grooves 12a, Two solder mounts 16, 16 are fixed to 12a. FIG. 9 is an enlarged view of a solder mount holding groove 12a formed at a side end of the housing 12 of the receptacle assembly 10 and a through space 12b to which the solder mount 16 is fixed. The solder mount 16 is fitted and held in the solder mount holding groove 12a and the through space 12b as described later in detail. As shown in FIGS. 5 to 8, a large number of contacts 24 are arranged in a housing 22 of a plug connector assembly 20 (hereinafter simply referred to as a plug assembly), and holding grooves 22 a, formed in both end portions of the housing 22. Two solder mounts 26, 26 are fixed to 22a. FIG. 10 is an enlarged view of a through space 22b to which a solder mount holding groove 22a formed at a side end of the housing 22 of the plug assembly 20 and the solder mount 26 are fixed. The solder mount 26 is inserted and held in the solder mount holding groove 22a and the through space 22b as described later in detail. FIG. 11 is an enlarged view showing the solder mount 16 of the receptacle connector, and FIG. 12 is an enlarged view showing the solder mount 26 of the plug connector. FIGS. 13 and 14 are enlarged views showing the mutual positions of the solder mount 16 of the receptacle connector and the solder mount 26 of the plug connector when the receptacle assembly 10 and the plug assembly 20 are fitted. As can be seen from FIG. 11, the receptacle-side solder mount 16 includes a bridge portion 16a fitted into the groove 12a of the housing 12, and mounting wings 16b, 16b formed at both ends of the bridge and provided for soldering to a substrate. A spring arm contact portion 16c having a U-shaped cross section formed at the center of the bridge 16a; and a pair of press-fit tongue pieces 16d, 16d formed between the spring arm contact portion 16c and the mounting wings 16b, 16b. It consists of The plug-side solder mount 26 includes a bridge portion 26a fitted into the groove 22a of the housing 22, mounting wings 26b and 26b formed at both ends of the bridge and provided for soldering to a board, and a bridge portion 26a. It comprises a U-shaped contact tab 26c formed in the center, and a pair of press-fit tongues 26d, 26d formed between the contact tab 26c and the mounting wings 26b, 26b. The press-fit tongue pieces 16d, 16d of the receptacle-side solder mount 16 shown in FIG. 11 are inserted and press-fitted into the grooves 12a of the housing 12 shown in FIG. It is accommodated in 12b in a bendable state. The press-fit tongues 26d, 26d of the plug-side solder mount 26 shown in FIG. 12 are inserted and press-fitted into the grooves 22a of the housing 22 shown in FIG. 10, and the contact tabs 26c are housed in the through spaces 22b of the housing 22 at that time. Is done. The spring arm contact portion 16c of the receptacle-side solder mount 16 contacts the contact tab 26c of the plug-side solder mount 26 when the two housings 12, 22 are fitted as shown in FIG. 13, and moves inward as shown in FIG. The plug-side assembly is fitted into the through space 22b of the housing 22 of the plug-side assembly in a state of being bent and sufficiently contacting the contact tab 26c of the plug-side solder mount 26. The spring arm contact portion 16c of the receptacle-side solder mount 16 is arranged in the through space 12b of the receptacle-side housing 12 (after fitting of the connector, the spring arm contact portion 16c is inserted into the through space 22b of the housing 22 of the plug-side assembly). ), So that the overall height of the connector can be reduced. Further, since the solder mounts 16 and 26 are connected to each other, the ground connection to the circuit board can be made from either the plug or the solder mount on the receptacle side, and the degree of freedom in design can be increased. The purpose of the inclined surface 12c formed in the through space 12b and on which the spring arm contact portion 16c rides is to support the portion 16c and prevent plastic deformation of the spring arm contact portion 16c due to repeated insertion and removal of the connector. is there. Further, since the spring arm contact portion 16c has a guide surface 26c 'for guiding the contact tab 26c to the contact position when the connector half is fitted, the transition to the connection state between the spring arm contact portion 16c and the contact tab 26c is extremely small. It is done smoothly. The above-described embodiment is merely an example of the idea underlying the electrical connector according to the present invention. For example, the solder mount 16c on the receptacle side and the solder mount 26c on the plug side may be reversed. Further, the shape of the connector housing, the solder mount, and the like can be changed unless the essence of the present invention is impaired.
