れない。DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION A cross reference to a provisional application related to a bicycle fork suspension with a single main compression spring system. This application is a co-pending provisional patent application Ser. No. 60 / 052,709, filed Jul. 16, 1997. Claim the benefit of the earlier filing date. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION This invention relates to the design and construction of bicycle fork suspension devices. In particular, the invention relates to the use of only one main compression spring system for bicycle suspension forks. Bicycle forks are known that are used to couple the front or rear wheels of a bicycle to a bicycle frame. In addition, bicycle forks are known that include suspension devices to cushion the shock or vibration experienced by the rider when the bicycle contacts bumps, ruts, rocks, pits, or other obstacles. Road disturbances are absorbed by the suspension device, and the reaction impact on the vehicle and the rider is reduced or eliminated entirely. One consequence of reducing such shock is that the rider has better control of the bicycle. In addition, the bicycle suspension device also serves to maintain contact between the bicycle wheels and the ground, thereby further improving steering and braking control for the rider's bicycle. Bicycle suspension forks generally have a pair of fork legs that straddle the wheels of the bicycle, each leg having a pair of inner and outer telescoping fork tubes. The inner fork tube is usually an upper tubular element and the outer fork is usually a lower tubular element. However, the reverse configuration can be used. The main compression spring assembly is typically provided on both fork legs within a pair of telescoping fork tubes. The compression spring assembly biases the fork tube away when the suspension device is in a neutral (ie, no external load) condition. The fork tube is positioned so that when the frame is impacted, the spring assembly resists the impact force and slides relative to each other. The fork tube undergoes a compression stroke when both tubes expand and contract together (when the inner tube slides into the outer tube), such as when an impact force is applied to the fork. The spring assembly absorbs the compressive force applied to the fork tube. Depending on the type of spring used, the spring assembly stores some, but not all, of the energy imparted to the suspension device during compression and releases that energy to return the fork tube to the neutral position. The fork tube undergoes an expansion stroke (i.e., a counter-issuing stroke) when the two tubes expand and contract apart (as the inner tube slides out of the outer tube), such as after a compression stroke. The main spring assembly generally comprises a coil spring, resilient member, air spring, arcuate spring disk, or other similar spring or combination of springs. Representative main springs known in the art are U.S. Pat. No. 2,708,112 to Seddon et al., U.S. Pat. No. 5,193,833 to Reisinger, and U.S. Pat. U.S. Pat. No. 4,971,344; U.S. Pat. No. 5,238,259 to Wilson et al .; U.S. Pat. No. 5,310,203 to Chen; U.S. Pat. No. 5,284,352; U.S. Pat. No. 5,367,918 to Chang et al .; U.S. Pat. No. 5,449,155 to Mack; U.S. Pat. U.S. Pat. No. 5,470,090 to Stewart et al., U.S. Pat. No. 5,538,276 to Tullis, and U.S. Pat. No. 5,580 to Turner et al. No. 075, and these As a whole, it is part of this specification by sourcing. When the inner and outer fork tubes, in addition to the main compression spring, are compressed to a maximum distance, "bottom-out springs" are used to mitigate sudden impacts between moving parts of the suspension assembly. Typically, the bottom-out spring consists of a thin rubber or other resilient material located at the bottom of the outer fork tube and is intended to be used only at the very end of the fork leg compression stroke. Similarly, a "top-out" spring is used in combination with the main compression spring to prevent a sudden impact between the inner and outer fork tubes if the fork tube expands too much during the rebound of the suspension device. It had been. "Bottom-out" or "top-out" spring systems representing these springs known in the art are disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 2,708,112 to Seddon et al., And U.S. Pat. No. 5,310 to Chen. No. 5,449,189 to Chen, the disclosure of which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety. Using the main compression spring assembly on only one fork leg instead of the main compression spring assembly on each fork leg has the advantage of reducing both the cost and weight of the bicycle. Cost reductions are becoming increasingly important given the competitive nature of the bicycle and fork manufacturing industry. Weight reduction is important for all bicycles, especially when used in cycling where weight is an important factor. Accordingly, there is a need for a bicycle fork using only one main compression spring assembly. A significant disadvantage associated with using a single main compression spring assembly on only one leg of a bicycle suspension fork is that when the main spring assembly compresses and the inner fork tube approaches the lower side of its travel, The forks are loaded increasingly and asymmetrically. Asymmetric loads are undesirable because unacceptably high tension is transmitted to the fork legs, fork fasteners (arches connecting the fork legs) and / or other fork structures. In order to withstand such loads, the fork structure must be strengthened, adding weight, increasing the production cost of the bicycle and reducing the cost and weight gained by eliminating the second main compression spring assembly. Offsets the reduction. Accordingly, there is a need for a bicycle fork having a single main compression spring system that reduces the asymmetric load created by using only a single main compression spring assembly. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION It is an object of the present invention to provide a bicycle suspension fork having a main compression spring system on only one of the fork legs and configured to minimize asymmetric loads caused by using such a spring system. It is to provide. This and other objects are to reduce the asymmetric load created by using only a single main compression spring assembly on one side of a fork, and a suspension fork having only a single main compression spring on one fork leg. Is achieved in accordance with the principles of the present invention by providing a method of assembling such a suspension fork such that the load on the fork is more evenly distributed. In particular, the load distribution assembly is located on the fork leg or both fork legs that do not include the main compression spring assembly. For either one of the fork legs, the load distribution assembly of the present invention is arranged to compress the load distribution assembly by compressing the telescopic tubes inside and outside the fork legs. Unlike conventional compression spring assemblies, load distribution assemblies may bias the inner and outer fork tubes apart or resist the compressive force applied to the fork legs due to the total travel of the fork tubes. Not intended. However, in some embodiments, the load balancing assembly may provide some biasing aid. Instead, the load balancing assembly becomes effective after the initial movement of the fork tube. However, unlike typical bottom-out springs (effective only at the end of the compression stroke), the load distribution assembly is enabled before nearing the bottom-out condition. In particular, the load balancing assembly provides resistance to the compressive force applied to the fork legs by part of the amount that the fork tube moves toward the end of the compression stroke. For example, the load distribution assembly may comprise a spring located between the bottom of the inner tube and the bottom of the outer tube, so that when the fork tube is in an uncompressed state, it provides some biasing force but the compression stroke This effectively applies compression force only approximately in the last half of the travel of the fork tube. However, it is desirable for the load distribution assembly to provide such resistance with approximately the last third of the travel of the fork tube due to the compression stroke. This is because the maximum load is usually applied to the fork during this compression stroke. Load sharing assemblies reduce the asymmetric compressive force that such springs or combinations of springs create by using a single main compression spring system on one side of the suspension fork, and are typically associated with legs, fasteners or other forks. Any type of air spring, coil spring, arcuate spring member or resilient spring, or any other type of spring or combination of springs may be included, as long as the structure is required. Further, as will be apparent to those skilled in the art, the load distribution assembly includes a plunger extending between the top of the inner fork tube and the outer fork tube between the bottom of the inner fork tube and the bottom of the outer fork tube. It can be located between or in other operating positions and can be located inside or outside the inner fork tube and / or the outer fork tube. The above and other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will be readily understood from the following detailed description of the invention when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings. In the drawings, the same elements are denoted by the same reference numerals. The scope of the invention is set forth in the appended claims. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS FIG. 1 is a front bicycle suspension fork formed in accordance with the principles of the present invention and includes a single main compression spring assembly. FIG. 2 is an exploded view of the single main compression spring assembly of FIG. FIG. 3 is a partial cross-sectional side view of the front bicycle suspension fork of FIG. 1 showing the load distribution assembly in the leg without the main compression spring assembly. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION A preferred embodiment of a front suspension fork 10 having a single main compression spring system 12 formed in accordance with the principles of the present invention is shown in FIGS. However, this application is merely exemplary, and those skilled in the art will appreciate that a single main compression spring system 12 of the present invention may additionally or alternatively utilize a rear bicycle suspension fork or other two telescopic fork legs. It will be understood that it can be incorporated into a suspension device. The suspension fork 10 has two fork legs 14, 16, each fork leg 14, 16 comprising an inner tube 18, 20 telescopically telescoping with outer tubes 22, 24. The first ends 26, 28 of the inner tubes 18, 20 are typically joined together by a crown 30. The second ends 32, 34 of the inner tubes 18, 20 telescopically extend and retract into the first ends 36, 38 of the outer tubes 22, 24 as the fork 10 is compressed, and the second ends 32, 34 of the outer tubes 22, 24. Approaching the ends 40,42. The outer tubes 22, 24 are generally connected to each other by fork fasteners 44. The compression spring system 12 has a single main compression spring assembly 50 in only one of the legs 14,16 and a load distribution assembly 52 in at least one of the legs 14,16. As shown in FIG. 1, the main compression spring assembly 50 is preferably located within the inner fork tube 20 of the fork leg 16. However, the compression spring assembly 50 may alternatively be, for example, in the outer fork tube 24 of the leg 16, one of the inner fork tube 18 or the outer fork tube 22 of the leg 14, or the inner diameter or axial passage through the compression spring assembly. It is understood that in the case of an inner or outer fork tube extending through the inner or outer tube 18,20,22,24, it can alternatively be arranged outside. As will be appreciated, only one compression spring assembly 50 is provided for the entire suspension fork 10. FIG. 2 shows a preferred embodiment of the main compression spring assembly 50 of the present invention, separated. The main compression spring assembly 50 of FIG. 2 includes a biasing element 54 that functions as a compression spring and a compression spring spacer 56. The compression spring 54 is preferably an elastic spring that can be formed from microporous urethane ("MCU"). As shown in FIG. 1, the main compression spring assembly 50 is preferably located on the inner tube 20, which is the upper tube of the suspension fork 10, so that the compression spring spacer 56 is located between the upper cap assembly and the compression spring 54. Placed in As will be described in more detail below, the lower end of the compression spring 54 is supported and maintained within the inner fork tube 20 by a plunger assembly 60 including a plunger shaft 62 having a first end 64 and a second end 66. You. An end plate 68 is provided at the first end 64 of the plunger shaft 62 and is disposed within the second end 34 of the inner tube 20 and provides a seat for the compression spring 54. The first end 64 and the end plate 68 are slidable within the inner tube 20, the second end 66 of the plunger shaft 62 is coupled to the second end of the outer tube 24, and the fork 16 and the spring 54 Enables compression. Because the flange 70 is provided at the second end 34 of the inner tube 20 (FIG. 1), during inflation of the fork legs 14,16, the flange 70 disengages the shaft end plate 68 from the inner tube 20. To prevent Thus, the plunger shaft 62 and the outer tube 24 interconnecting the shaft end plates 68 are prevented from being separated from the inner tube 20. The top-out spring 72 is preferably provided at the first end 64 of the plunger shaft 62 below the shaft end plate 68. The top-out spring 72 can be formed of an elastic member known in the art. As can be seen from FIG. 1, when the compression spring assembly 50 is positioned within the fork 16, the top-out spring 72 is positioned between the shaft end plate 68 and the flange 70 of the inner fork tube 20. Thus, the top-out spring 72 will cause the fork tubes 20, 24 to reach their near-expansion limit during the rebound of the suspension device, and the second end 34 of the inner tube 20 will approach the first end 38 of the outer tube 24, causing the shaft to move out of the way. The impact between the end plate 68 and the flange 70 is relieved. The plunger shaft 62 preferably extends through the axial inner diameter of the top-out spring 72 such that the top-out spring 72 is disposed about the plunger shaft 62. In the preferred embodiment shown in FIGS. 1-3, the compression spring system further includes a load distribution system 52 located on the fork legs 14 which preferably does not include the main compression spring assembly 50, as shown in FIG. However, if desired, the load distribution system 52 may be located on both fork legs 14,16. As best shown in FIG. 3, the load distribution system 52 includes a load distribution spring 80, a load distribution spring spacer 82, and a plunger shaft 62. The load distribution spring 80 and the load distribution spring spacer 82 are preferably annular so that the plunger shaft 62 passes therethrough. The load distribution spring spacer 82 is preferably a rigid or semi-rigid plastic spacer that can withstand the compressive load that can be applied to the load distribution spring assembly 52. The load distribution spring 80 is preferably an annular elastic spring, and most preferably an MCU elastic body. The use of an MCU elastic as a load distribution spring has two practical advantages. First, the MCU elastic body is an innovative spring rate that allows the elastic body to distribute the non-linearly increasing load increments on the fork legs that do not include the main compression spring assembly for each incremental unit of distance that the spring is compressed. Having. Second, which is also advantageous, MCUs are lighter and cheaper than many alternative spring structures. However, the members on which the load distribution springs 80 and the load distribution spring spacers 82 are formed are selected according to the load distribution characteristics desired for the system, and therefore, as long as the desired load distribution is obtained, members other than those specified here. It should be understood that it is also possible to configure As will be appreciated by those skilled in the art, the load distribution spring 80 compresses, in particular, the flange 92 of the inner fork tube 18 when engaging the lower second end 32. Upon compression, the load distribution spring 80 distributes a portion of the compression load to the fork legs that do not include the main compression spring assembly, thereby reducing the load on the fork legs that include the main compression spring assembly and reducing the asymmetric load. Alleviates the need to reinforce the bearing fork structure. The load distribution system 52 efficiently compresses the compression load during the last そ し て and most preferably 1 / of the movement of the inner fork tubes 18, 20 to the outer fork tubes 22, 24 (compression stroke of the fork 10). Is desirably configured and arranged so as to disperse. However, this preferred range may vary with other forks or alternative suspension assemblies depending on the particular design of the fork or the device being considered. Therefore, as a general principle, the load distribution spring assembly is asymmetric in the range of movement where load redistribution is required to avoid the need to strengthen the structural components of the fork or other suspension assembly. It is desirable to be configured and arranged to redistribute important loads. The spacer 82 is adjustable to change the position of the load distribution spring 80, and thus to change the point at which the load distribution system 52 efficiently distributes compression or other loads during compression of the bicycle fork. It is to be understood that they can be interchanged with spacers of different sizes or shapes. The load distribution system 52 can be located in any manner and on any surface that allows the transfer of load from the inner fork tube to the outer fork tube. Thus, FIGS. 1 and 3 show the load distribution spring 80 of the fork leg 14 resting on a load distribution spring spacer 82 located at the lower second end 42 of the outer fork tube 22, but a similar load distribution. It should be understood that other configurations that provide are within the principles of the present invention.
