Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface emitting device that emits light uniformly without a dark spot between units, even when plural surface emitting units are arranged side by side. SOLUTION: This surface emitting device comprises a transparent plate 4, a pair of rod-like lamps 5 arranged at the end sides of the plate 4 along the ends and reflectors 6 that cover the lamps and reflect light of the lamps toward the ends of the transparent plate 4 and transmit light partially. Then, this surface emitting device comprises plural surface emitting unit 3, which are arranged adjacent to each other in the same plane approximately, and prisms 7 arranged in the length direction of the lamps so as to lay across two transparent plates 4 and straddling the lamps 5.

2. Description of the Related Art In a surface light emitting device of this type, a rod-shaped lamp is provided on an end face side of a transparent plate so as to be along the end face, and light from the lamp is made incident on the end face of the transparent plate and emitted from the plate face of the transparent plate. Things. The edge light type surface light emitting device can be made thinner than a direct type surface light emitting device in which a plurality of fluorescent lamps are arranged in a case having a translucent front panel, and the light of the fluorescent lamps is parallel lines. It does not appear as a lamp-shaped image.

However, in order to manufacture a surface emitting device having a large area, it is necessary to use a lamp having a large luminance and increase the thickness of the transparent plate. It is difficult to illuminate the area uniformly, and there is a limit to practical use in terms of the burden of weight increase and cost.

Therefore, as shown in FIG. 4, it has been proposed to arrange a plurality of surface light-emitting units (3) formed of a combination of a transparent plate (4) and a rod-shaped lamp (5) in the same plane. . In this case, the reflector (6) which covers each lamp (5) and concentrates the light of the lamp on the end face of the transparent plate (4) is formed of resin so as to transmit a part of the light.
Although a translucent base plate (2) is covered with an interval from (3), the area between adjacent surface light-emitting units (3) becomes dark like a band, and it is still impossible to illuminate a large surface uniformly. Seldom used for practical use.

[Operation and Effect] Light transmitted through the reflector (6) and the transparent plate (4) enters the prism body (7), is collected, and is repeatedly reflected in the prism body (7) and emitted. The brightness of the light emitted from the prism body (7) and the light emitted from the emission surfaces of the transparent plates (4) and (4) are comparable to those of the transparent plates (4) and (4). The base plate (2) can be substantially uniformly illuminated. At least one of the entrance side and the exit side of the prism body (7) is a fine uneven surface that diffusely reflects light, so that the prism body (7) is linear in comparison with other parts. It can be prevented from shining brightly.
