Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a meter device the cost of which can be lowered, when a front panel is made to produce surface emission. SOLUTION: A measuring instrument body 3, in which a drive shaft 2 is extended to the front is installed. A pointer 4 is mounted on the tip side of the drive shaft 2. Between the pointer 4 and the instrument body 3, the front panel 5 constituted of an index part 51 as an object to be indicated by the pointer 4, a first panel region 52, in which a prescribed region which is continuous by including the index part 51 is formed optically transmissive, and a second light-shielding panel region 53 adjacent to the panel region 52 is arranged. Light sources 6 are arranged on the front side of a circuit board 1, situated on the side of the drive shaft 2 from the panel region 52, in such a way that light-emitting faces 6a are directed to the axial direction of the drive shaft 2. Between the front panel 5 and the light sources 6, a reflecting body 7 where a first reflection part 75, which faces the light-emitting faces 6a of the light sources 6 and which reflects their illumination light to the outer circumference, is equipped, and a second reflection part 77 which is extended to the outside by keeping an air layer (a proper space) S from the front panel 5 and which reflects the illumination light to the side of the front panel 5 is constituted is provided.

However, a device in which a diffusion plate or a light guide is interposed between a light source and a front panel not only increases the number of parts and weight but also complicates the structure. This requires troublesome lighting tuning, which is a major bottleneck in cost reduction.
Further, since a planar light source such as an EL is expensive, the use of a planar light source directly leads to an increase in cost. The present invention has been made in view of these points, and a main object of the present invention is to provide a meter device that can achieve a cost reduction when the front panel is made to emit surface light.

BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION A meter device according to the present invention has a meter body with a drive shaft extending forward mounted on a circuit board, and a pointer mounted on a tip end of the drive shaft. An index portion to be indicated by the pointer, a first panel region formed by continuously forming a predetermined region including the index portion to be light-transmissive, and a second light-shielding second region adjacent to the first panel region.
A front panel composed of a panel area is arranged, and a light source is arranged on the front side of a circuit board located closer to the drive shaft than the first panel area so that the light emitting surface faces the axial direction of the drive axis, Between the front panel and the circuit board, a first reflecting portion facing the light source and reflecting the illumination light to the outer periphery and the front panel are extended to the outside with an appropriate space, and reflect the illumination light to the front panel side. And a reflector having a second reflector. Illumination light emitted from the light source is reflected to the outer periphery by the first reflector of the reflector, and thus is reflected to the outer periphery by the first reflector. The illuminated light is further reflected by the second reflector of the reflector toward the front panel, and illuminates the first panel area by transmission. By illuminating the front panel through the first and second reflectors in this way, an illumination room including a light source, the first and second reflectors, and an air layer interposed between the respective reflectors behind the front panel. Thus, the first panel region can be made to emit light in a substantially uniform manner with a simple configuration without arranging a planar light source behind the front panel, thereby achieving cost reduction.

Further, in the meter device according to the present invention, in the basic configuration including the circuit board, the meter main body, the pointer, the front panel, the light source, and the reflector, the light source is arranged such that the light emitting surface faces the opposite side to the position of the drive shaft. It may be arranged, and the reflector may be provided with a reflection portion that extends outward with a space between the front panel as appropriate and reflects the illumination light from the light source to the front panel side. Similarly, an illumination room including a light source, a reflection unit, and an air layer can be formed behind the front panel, so that the first panel area can be almost uniformly surface-emitted without using a planar light source with a simple configuration. And cost reduction can be achieved.

In each of the above-described embodiments, when the index portion is formed to be light-shielding, high contrast display can be performed with the index portion as a shadow in the background of light emission, and visibility can be improved. Note that the indicator portion can be formed to be light-transmissive and displayed as a transmissive image. However, when the indicator portion is provided to be light-transmissive, the first image in which the transmitted image of the indicator portion becomes the background, as in the case of the pointer. It is desirable to set it so that it can be distinguished from the panel area.
