Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve welding workability with a column member, and to enhance joining strength by forming a welding groove with the outer periphery of the column member on the inner peripheral edge of a ring-shaped joining member capable of being installed on the outer periphery of the column member, and arranging a flat part on this bottom surface. SOLUTION: Since a welding groove is formed in a straight line-shaped part on the inner peripheral edge of a joining member 12, a welding part 17 is executed only in a part for linearly opposing the outer periphery of a column member 11 and the inner periphery of the joining member 12 of a diaphragm 10. Opposed parts of an outer peripheral corner part of the column member 11 and an inner peripheral corner part of the joining member 12 are not welded to arrange a void. Since a flat part is arranged on a bottom surface of the welding groove, at welding, a welding arc sufficiently reaches up to the deep part so as not to cause a welding defect. Since a curved surface part is arranged on both end inner peripheral surfaces of the welding groove, welding metal sufficiently spreads to prevent the occurrence of a welding defect at the starting end and the trailing end of the welding part 17.

Here, a method of mounting the diaphragm 10 on the column member 11 will be described with reference to FIG. As shown in FIG. 5, the column member 11 is inserted into the joining member 12 of the diaphragm 10 and welding is performed between the outer peripheral surface of the column member 11 and the welding groove 16. It is fixed to the outer periphery of the member 11.

In this case, the welding groove 16 is connected to the joining member 12.
Is formed only at the linear portion of the inner peripheral edge of the welding member 17, the welded portion 17 is applied only to the portion where the outer periphery of the column member 11 and the inner periphery of the joining member 12 of the diaphragm 10 are linearly opposed. And the opposing part of the outer peripheral corner part of the column member 11 and the inner peripheral corner part of the joining member 12 is not welded,
An air gap 18 is provided (see FIG. 1).

The reason why the gap 18 is provided is that, since the residual stress due to the manufacturing process of the rectangular steel pipe is relatively large at the outer peripheral corner of the column member 11, the material deteriorates when such a corner is welded. This is because the strength is likely to be reduced, and this is avoided.

Since the flat portion 16a is provided on the bottom surface of the groove 16 for welding, the welding arc sufficiently reaches a deep portion during welding, so that the welding workability is good and no welding defects occur. Thus, the welded portion 17 having high strength and high reliability can be formed.
