It is preferable to use a one-way clutch of this type with supporting bearings (not shown) attached to both ends, but the inner ring 52 or the shaft is rotatable by rolling contact with a roller 53. It also has a function to support it.
Therefore, from the viewpoints of space, cost, and the like, there are many cases where the bearing is used cantilevered by a bearing or without a bearing.
At this time, particularly, the shaft whirling occurs during idling, and the whirling increases the displacement of the tongue piece 55a of the elastic body 55. Therefore, the tongue piece 55a tends to be fatigued, which is not preferable in terms of durability. In particular, the durability at the base of the tongue piece 55a where the bending stress becomes large tends to be insufficient.

A roller clutch according to the present invention is formed on one of an inner peripheral surface of an outer race and an outer peripheral surface of an inner race, and forms a wedge gap with the other peripheral surface. And a roller arranged in the wedge gap, a retainer for holding the roller, and an elastic body interposed between the pillar of the retainer and the roller, wherein the elastic body comprises a pair of elastic bodies. It has a tongue, and the width of the tongue gradually decreases toward the tip. The inner ring referred to in the claims includes the shaft. The roller clutch may be a one-way clutch or a two-way clutch. As described above, since the width of the tongue for pressing the roller is gradually reduced toward the tip, the stress acting on the base of the tongue is reduced, and the root of the tongue is less likely to be fatigued, and durability is reduced. improves. Therefore, satisfactory durability can be obtained even when this roller clutch is used without being used together with a bearing or when the shaft is cantilevered by the bearing. Even if the tip portion is narrowed, by appropriately widening the width of the root portion, it is possible to obtain the same roller pressing force as in the case of a rectangular tongue piece as a whole. By appropriately designing the change in the width, the tongue piece can have the same stress from the root to the tip.

The operation of the roller clutch will be described. In the state shown in FIG. 1A, the roller 3 is pressed against the cam surface 7 of the outer race 1 by the elastic body 5 and frictionally engaged, and is in a locked state. When the inner ring 2 is rotated in the idling direction (clockwise in the drawing) with respect to the outer ring 1 from this locked state, the rollers 3
The retainer 4 rotates with the inner race 2 by friction. That is, the roller 3 moves in the direction in which the wedge gap is expanded by the cam surface 7. The roller 3 is movable until it hits the end 7a of the cam surface 7. In the state where the roller 3 hits the end 7a of the cam surface 7, the roller 3 slips with respect to the inner ring 2, and the inner ring 2 can rotate freely. The clutch is unlocked. That is, clockwise rotation of the inner ring 2 is freely permitted. When the inner ring 2 is rotated in the locking direction (counterclockwise in the drawing) b from the unlocked state, the roller 3 and the retainer 4 rotate together with the inner ring 2, and the roller 3 becomes a wedge formed by the cam surface 7 of the outer ring 2. It is pressed again into the gap and enters the rotation locked state. Therefore, rotation of the inner ring 2 in the counterclockwise direction is prevented. Thus, only rotation in one direction a is freely permitted.

The clutch has a function of rotatably supporting the inner ring 2 because the roller 3 comes into rolling contact with the inner ring 2 with respect to rotation in the unlocked direction. Therefore, this roller clutch can be used without supporting the inner ring 2 with a bearing or supporting the inner ring 2 in a cantilevered state with a bearing. In this case, the inner ring 2
During idling, the inner ring 2 whirls, and the displacement of the tongue piece 5b of the elastic body 5 increases. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the fatigue of the tongue piece 5b, especially the fatigue near the base end 5ba. However, since the width of the tongue piece 5b of the elastic body 5 is tapered so that the width gradually decreases toward the distal end, stress is prevented from being concentrated near the base end 5ba of the tongue piece 5b. Excellent fatigue resistance.

In the above embodiment, the elastic body 5 has the mounting portion 5a for the retainer column 4a, but the mounting portion 5a is not necessarily required. For example,
As shown in the examples of FIGS. 4 and 5, the elastic body 5 may be entirely interposed between the retainer pillar 4 a and the roller 3. Further, as shown in the embodiment of the figure, the elastic body 5 may be provided with a pair of tongue pieces 5b, 5b extending from both ends of the main body piece 5c toward the center. These tongue pieces 5b, 5b also have a shape whose width gradually decreases toward the tip. Other items described above in the embodiment shown in FIGS. 4 and 5 are the same as those in the embodiment in FIG. Further, in each of the above embodiments, the cam surface 7 is formed on the outer ring 1.
A cam surface (not shown) may be formed on the outer peripheral surface of the wheel to form a wedge gap between the two wheels 1 and 2 with the roller 3 interposed therebetween. Further, in each of the above-described embodiments, any one of the outer ring rotation and the inner ring rotation may be used.

According to the roller clutch of the present invention, the elastic member interposed between the pillar of the retainer and the roller has a pair of tongue pieces, and the width of the tongue pieces gradually decreases toward the tip. Therefore, the durability of the elastic body for pressing the roller is excellent, and satisfactory durability can be obtained, for example, even when the elastic body is used together with the bearing or the shaft is cantilevered by the bearing. The elastic body has a mounting portion mounted on the pillar portion of the retainer, and a pair of tongue pieces for pressing a roller, and the width of the tongue piece gradually decreases toward the tip. Can stably mount the elastic body. When the elastic body is a press-formed product of a steel plate or a stainless steel plate, an elastic body having a shape in which the width of the tongue piece is gradually reduced can be easily formed. In particular, even when the elastic body has the mounting portion and the pair of tongue pieces, the entire elastic body can be easily formed by press working. In the case of a stainless steel plate, there is no problem of generation of rust, and it can be used favorably even in applications where it is wet with seawater or the like.
