前記変調器は、周波数が所定の固定値を繰り返す第一の変調方式と、周波数が連続的に変化する第二の変調方式とのいずれかを選択して前記ミリ波信号を変調し、
前記計測手段は前記第一の変調方式を用いて物標が検出されたときは、変調方式を第二の変調方式に切り替えるミリ波レーダ装置。

請求項1において、
当該レーダ装置は車速センサからの入力を受ける構成であり、

送信した信号と受信された信号とに基づいて物標との距離あるいは相対速度を計測する計測手段とを備え、
前記変調器は、周波数が所定の固定値を繰り返す第一の変調方式と、周波数が連続的に変化する第二の変調方式とのいずれかを選択して前記ミリ波信号を変調し、
前記計測手段は前記第一の変調方式を用いて物標の存在を検出し、前記第二の変調方式を用いて、前記検出された物標が複数の物標であるかを検出するミリ波レーダ装置。

請求項1乃至3のいずれか一項において、
前記第二の変調方式として、前記ミリ波発振器の発振周波数が、時間的に線形に変化する波形を含む連続波を用いたことを特徴とするミリ波レーダ装置。
