Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower deterioration of a discharge lamp insertion part and a whitening phenomenon to a reflecting mirror by arranging a metallic deterioration preventing cylinder shielding illuminated light from an arc tube in the inner diameter part used for inserting and supporting one end part of the discharge tube with power supply to a lead wire allowed. SOLUTION: In an outer tube 5 of a discharge lamp 3, a black stripe 15c is arranged very widely to the base part of the outer tube 5 over the whole part of a part to be inserted into an inside diameter part 12 of a base 2. An area exposed from the inside diameter part 12 of the black stripe 15c is minimized in consideration of the light distribution form as a headlamp. In this way, light emitted from an arc tube 4 toward the inside diameter part 12 of the base 2 can be shielded, so that deterioration of the inside diameter part 12 can be reduced. Therefore, a whitening phenomenon to the reflecting mirror can be also reduced. Because of reduction of the whitening phenomenon, the reflecting mirror and the like can be prevented from giving influence due to the whitening phenomenon on a light distribution characteristic.

In such a conventional discharge lamp device and a vehicle headlamp, the outer tube 9 of the discharge lamp 92 is provided.
The black stripes applied to No. 4 are provided to define an irradiation range, and in particular, in the case of a headlight of an automobile, are provided in a specific pattern so that regulated and appropriate irradiation is performed. Things. Therefore, the discharge lamp 92
When is turned on, the heat and ultraviolet rays at that time are given to the inner diameter portion 101 of the base 91, and the PPS in this portion is deteriorated. That is, the inner diameter portion 1 of the base 91 is particularly heated by heat or ultraviolet rays.
01 PPS decomposes into sublimation gas, which adheres to the periphery of the discharge lamp 92 to cause whitening (dirt). In particular, when used in a headlight of an automobile, it adheres to a reflection surface of a reflector of the headlight and causes whitening (dirt), which causes a reduction in reflection efficiency and a change in light distribution characteristics. Such a phenomenon is not sufficient for the synthetic resin base 91 even if quartz glass is used for the outer tube 94 and titanium dioxide (TiO2) or the like is included in the outer tube 94 for cutting off ultraviolet rays.

As a fourth embodiment of the present invention, the first embodiment
There is a means that combines the second embodiment with the first embodiment. That is, instead of the black stripe 15 applied to the outer surface of the outer tube 5 of the discharge lamp 3, the light shielding unit 15 having the same function as the black stripe is formed of a metal plate. The above-mentioned deterioration preventing cylinder 22 can be made of a series of metals of the above-described materials. Thereby, light emitted from the arc tube 4 to the inner diameter portion 12 of the base 2 is blocked, and deterioration of the inner diameter portion 12 is suppressed,
The conventional whitening phenomenon on the reflecting mirror is also suppressed. Further, similarly to the case where the black stripe is formed on the outer surface of the outer tube 5 by coating, the light distribution range of the light emitted from the discharge lamp 3 can be defined, and the same effect can be obtained.
