Detailed description of the embodiment
Referring to FIG. 1, physically, the communication network is one central node.
Therefore, what is called a hub node H and a plurality of satellite nodes A, B,
C. . . Consists of All those nodes have fibers F1 and F2
Connected by a two-fiber ring, and the opposite of the two fibers
With propagation traffic.
The fiber is preferably a single mode fiber. Logically, the net
The network is a star network, since all satellite nodes
Has its own designated wavelength channel, so it can transmit and receive
You. Each satellite node can directly communicate only with the hub node H. I
Thus, traffic between two satellite nodes, eg, A and B, is
, Always have to go through the hub node H. Hub nodes are network
Each satellite node A, B, C. . . Belongs to each wavelength
In the channel, send and receive. Therefore, each fiber has N satellites.
A network with light nodes, with N wavelength channels. Havno
The channel in the mode is then followed by its transmitter Tx 'and receiver Rx'
Through an electrical interface, described here in a manner known per se
Other designs, either the same design that is being used or any other design known in the industry.
It is also connected to a communication network.
According to the present invention, each satellite node A, B, C. . . Is a switching component
To avoid this, passive multiplexers and demultiplexers
Connected to the bar. Switching elements must be individually controlled and
It is easy to lose. Each satellite, as illustrated at station D in FIG.
The node is an access point having a transmitter and a receiver (not shown)
1, two 1-by-2 fiber couplers 2 and 3, two passive multiplexers
4 and 5, and two passive demultiplexers 6 and 7.
The function of the fiber coupler 3 is based on the transmitter signal from the transmitter of the access point 1.
Is to be delivered to the two multiplexers 4 and 5. Fiber cap
The function of the R2 is to convert the received signals from the two demultiplexers 6 and 7 into
Together with the access point 1 receiver. Its transmitter and
The received signal is in the same wavelength channel of each station.
Multiplexers 4 and 5 transmit the transmitter signal to bus fibers F1 and F2.
Join. The demultiplexer is the wavelength channel desired for the satellite node in question.
The channel is drawn from the bus fiber to the receiver of the workstation 1.
From station C, which illustrates the satellite node design in simplified form
As can be seen, the multiplexers are simple fiber couplers 4 'and 5'
Can consist of only The demultiplexer is similar to the fiber couplers 6 'and 7'
And bandpass fill adapted to wavelength channel for the station in question
Is replaced by
The hub node means (H) includes fiber breaks of fibers F1 and F2, and

The fiber 10 and the multiplexer 11 are connected to each end of the fiber F1. same
Similarly, on the opposite side, demultiplexer 9 and multiplexer 12 are
Connected to the inverter F2.
Individual switches, including PIN diodes and 2-by-2 optical crossbar switches
The switching unit 13 comprises each optical transmitter Tx 'and two demultiplexers 9 and
And 10 are connected. The function of the 2-by-2 crossbar switch on the receiver side is
Either of the two demultiplexers 9 or 10 the receiver has to listen to
From either end of the fiber, the satellite node to which it belongs.
The choice is made whether or not a code signal is provided. The switching unit
Is, of course, replaced by some other switching device with the same function.
However, a crossbar switch structure with a PIN diode is inexpensive and suitable.
Is used.
One of the demultiplexers, 9 in Figure 1, breaks the fiber into the fiber ring.
It operates when there is no notice. PIN diode is demultiplexer 1
When only 0 has input signal information, other

A demultiplexer is connected to the crossbar switch, thereby
The switch and therefore some receiver / PIN diode pair always
Regardless of the position of the switch, the same wavelength channel is listened.
The satellite node always has both fiber Fs, as is evident from FIG.
Transmit the transmitter signal at 1 and F2, but in different directions. Satellite reception
The machine will never use the same channel, even on both fibers F1 and F2.
Even if not sometimes, they are combined to listen in both directions.
In each channel of the hub node, the optical one-by-two space switch 14
x 'and the transmitter of fiber F1 or fiber F2.
Connection between two multiplexers 11 and 12 for transmission on either
Is done.
Operates on the same wavelength channel, and thereby has some satellite nodes
The hub node transmitter / receiver pair, which handles two-way communication, always sends in the same direction.
I believe and listen from the same direction. In other words, if a receiver
Switch 13 is in a first position, hereinafter referred to as left, so a second position, below, right
, The transmitter switch 14 of the same wavelength channel is the same.
I have to do things. Thus, each transmitter switch unit 14 is
It is controlled by the position of the corresponding receiver switch 13.
At least one of the fibers F1 and / or F2, for example 15
And if a fiber break occurs, the hub node will either
At least one of the diodes will lose the input signal from one channel
It becomes Actions from that hub node are then sent according to the following two rules:
Reconfigure the transceiver and receiver switches.
1) Change the position of the switches for these channels, lost in the receiver
2) If channels were lost with PIN diodes, these lost
Change the position of all switches except the ones.
The above rule states that all switches have the same position, for example, to the left
Suppose that. The hub, of course, even if the network is working properly,
Left and right communications can be mixed. However, the simple rules for the aforementioned protection
Cannot be used in that case.
Referring to FIG. 2A, if any of the channels of the ring architecture,
If there is no cable break, hub node H has all transmitter switches on the left.
To transmit only through the multiplexer 11 on the left side.
. All receiver switches 13 are in the bar position, so that on their left side,
All communications exit and enter the hub node H.
Each satellite node will normally only receive and transmit on individual channels
Designed. However, some channels communicating with hub nodes
Nothing prevents you from having a satellite node to equip. Each satellite
The node receives one channel from the hub node and returns the same (or other
) Through its multiplexers 4 and 5 (4 'and 5').
And transmit in both directions. Satellite nodes A, B, C. . . Different channels
Is illustrated with the same node reference, but in lower case. Time
In a counter-propagating propagation bus fiber, only those signals that are multiplexed
What reaches the appropriate receiver at the node, while multiplexed on other fibers,
To the corresponding monitor PIN diode of the switching unit 13 of the hub node
To reach.
"Unnecessary channel signal transmission" is required for counterclockwise propagating bus fiber.
Accumulate more and more. However, these are the bandpass filters of the satellite nodes.
It is separated from useful ones by wavelength filtering in the filter 8.
Also, the same information from the same satellite node is
When it reaches the mode, it will be provided twice in the direction of propagation on fibers F1 and F2
You. However, this does not create any problems,
The hub node is tuned to receive only information signals coming from the left side.
You.
Diagram showing double cable break between satellite nodes C and D
Referring to FIG. In this case, the hub node H is connected to the satellite nodes A, B and
And C input channels are lost. The operation of the hub node is to receive these channels
Switch from the bar to the cross position, and change the transmitter switch for the same channel.
Switch from left to right.
The complete restoration of communication means that the hub node has the left input according to FIG. 2B.
And at the output bus fiber, as before, with nodes D and E, and also
In bus fiber, as shown by the node reference in lower case,
It means communicating with satellite nodes A, B and C. (Cable break
Without, this could, of course, be the usual way of operating a network. )
A single fiber on the clockwise fiber between satellite nodes C and D
In the case of a bar break, the hub node opens input channels a, b, and c.
The operation of the hub node is in the case of a double cable break, as illustrated in FIG. 2C.
Is the same as
A single fiber with counterclockwise fiber between satellite nodes C and D
In the event of an ever-failure, the hub node will be
As can be seen from FIG.
You don't lose anything.
However, it is a receiver switch that monitors clockwise propagating fiber.
Lost channels d and e with PIN diode in switching device 13
. Therefore, it is all switches except those not lost in the PIN diode.
Change the switch. Its operation is the same as in FIG. 2B, ie
Set the receiver switches 13 of channels a, b and c from the bar to the cross state
Change the transmitter switch 14 of the same channel from left to right.
Things. The channel signal propagation after this switching is shown in FIG.
You.
This is due to the non-network
Always a sensitive part. Therefore, according to the second embodiment shown in FIG.
1 having the same function, having the same reference numerals, and having a spare hub node.
SH can be located anywhere along the bus fiber ring, satellite
Are shown inserted between nodes D and E. This spare hub SH is 2
Satellite nodes A, B, C. to two fibers F1 and F2. . . Same as
Is illustrated as a simple kind of hub node with a kind of connection, ie
, The fiber chain is not connected to the spare hub node SH, but to the hub
Only node H should be broken.
As in the normal hub node H, the spare hub node SH
Satellite transceivers connected to the ring (typically the number of satellite nodes
Has as many transmitters and receivers as there are. However, that
It has only one multiplexer 17 and one demultiplexer 18.
And each has a fiber coupler 4 on both fibers F1 and F2.
"" And "5" are connected in the same way as for each satellite node.
Normally, when a normal hub node H is in operation, a spare hub node H
SH transmitter Tx "is off, and its spare hub node is completely
Transparent, caused by fiber couplers 4 ", 5", 6 "and 7"
Except for some power loss, traffic passing through the network
Has no effect. Of course, the optical amplifier could be located somewhere in the network (not shown).
I) Can be installed.
The spare hub node SH is activated as soon as the hub node H is damaged. So
When this is activated, the signal from the transmitter Tx "is transmitted to the fiber coupler 4"
And 5 ″ are sent out in both directions. The receiver Rx ″ is connected to the bus fiber F
Listen simultaneously on both 1 and F2. At the same time as the hub node H is damaged,
If no corruption has occurred in the network, it will be
Perform complete communication with its spare hub node SH. Satay
The signal from the light node can be from either the left or right
Arrives at Bnode SH. All signals from the spare hub node SH are bidirectional
Will be sent to Some sent to the right are received by satellite nodes.
The rest is received from the signal sent to the left. The signal is
The normal hub node H design, including bar breaks, allows the entire fiber ring
It is prevented from circulating around.
If the spare hub node SH is active, fiber breakage may occur.
If it is, it is located between its break and the ordinary hub node H
Can communicate with all satellite nodes except for.
Each satellite node is responsible for both its transmitted and received traffic.
Although the use of the same wavelength channel for the
It is also possible to have separate wavelength channels for both without changing
It is within the scope of the invention. Therefore, changing the network, sent and
Only one fiber is used for both received traffic
It is also possible to do so. However, both downstream and upstream
Using the same fiber for traffic in the optical amplifier
Means that it needs to work in both directions. This is pretty annoying
Yes, so this type of application is used only in very rare cases
It will be.
