Rolls for rolling or continuous casting of metal
The present invention relates to a roll for rolling or continuous casting of metal.
The invention is particularly applicable to backup rolls and work rolls for hot or cold rolling mills.
And the roll structure used in continuous casting equipment to produce flat metal products between the rolls.
It is about construction. The product to be rolled or cast may be ferrous or non-ferrous metal.
The rolls used in this type of equipment are well known and are concentric with a core or hub.
It consists of a shell that surrounds a circle, and the core is supported by the shaft as needed
. These rolls are rotated by a drive system depending on the application, or simply roll through the bearings.
It is installed to rotate freely. Mechanical properties and temperature of shell and core materials
The degree characteristics are selected according to these applied stresses. The core is generally made of steel and
Supports the load (in some cases, further rotational driving torque) applied by the manufactured product
Has mechanical strength. Shell is a machine that is joined by rolled or cast products
In the case of hot rolled work rolls and casting rolls, which must support mechanical stress
Must withstand thermal stress. In addition, cool the shell by spraying it from the outside
Or in the case of casting rolls, channels are formed inside the shell and coolant is circulated there.
In some cases, it is cooled by cooling.
It is known that this roll, especially its shell, can deform under various stresses.
Have been. The deformation in the rolling mill is mainly the bending deformation of the whole roll, and this deformation
Is well known to be compensated for by chamber adjustment and rolling case balance.
The deformation of the shell in the roll-to-roll continuous casting apparatus is mainly due to heat. It
As a countermeasure, only a part of the shell is connected to the hub (for example, in the axial direction of the roll).
Only the middle part is connected to the hub) to allow some deformation of the shell with respect to the hub.
Thus, methods for limiting the stress applied to the shell are already known. Further cool
This allows the outer surface of the shell to have the required profile (and therefore the required profile for the cast product).
To compensate or at least partially control the deformation of the shell
Are known.
It is an object of the present invention to act directly on the shell to effect the outer profile or shell of the shell.
Better control of the bus shape of the device to give the required profile to the product
To provide a roll that compensates for the deformation of the roll and any geometric defects in the product.
It is to be.
Another object of the present invention is to change the solidification condition of a cast strip in roll-to-roll casting or
Limit the effects of local or temporary overpressure caused by other parasitic phenomena.
And there. In other words, when overpressure occurs, the roll is supported to limit the overpressure.
It is known that the distance between bearings changes.
An object of the present invention is a rolling mill having a hub and an outer shell coaxial to the hub.
Or a hub and an outer shell in a roll of equipment for continuous casting between two rolls
A deformable shell consisting of a plurality of annular cells arranged axially between
Each annular cell is supplied with pressurized liquid and each cell has an inner side that contacts the hub.
It is divided into a cylindrical wall and an outer cylindrical wall that contacts the outer shell, and these two cylindrical walls are
They are connected to each other by two deformable side walls, which are radially interrupted.
Rolls having convex surfaces facing each other on the surface.
As can be more clearly understood from the following description, the convex surface of the sidewall is added in each cell.
Pressure acts to straighten the side walls and the resulting knuckle joint effect
Fruit (arc-boutement effect on the side wall between the inner and outer cylindrical walls)
Thus, a force is generated at the cell which pulls the two cylindrical walls apart. Hub is rigid
Because the inner cylindrical wall does not deform significantly due to the
A large radial force is exerted by the separating force, which increases the radius and therefore
The outer shell is deformed. This force increases as the degree of protrusion of the side wall decreases.
You. The bulge of the convex portion reverses the convex shape of the side wall (the side wall is pressed by the pressure inside the cell).
It is easy to understand that it should be kept above the minimum required to prevent
Like.
The radial deformation of the outer wall of the cell will inevitably increase the circumferential dimension of this side wall.
Note that it grows. This stretching and deformation of the cell sidewalls is
It is possible within limits. In other words, these fluctuation ranges are small, and the present invention
The dimensional change required to modify the roll profile
The radius of the rod is one micron to several tens of millimeters.
The internal pressure of the cell causes the space between the cylindrical walls to be
The extension will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art. However, the convex part of the side wall
The swell is sufficiently small and the width of the cell (the width in the axial direction of the roll) is
Outer thickness due to the knuckle joint effect described above
Radial forces on the cylindrical wall and outer shell become dominant. This is the cell thickness
(Or height) is constant, as the bulge of the convex part decreases,
It comes from the fact that the width can be reduced. In addition, each cell is generated
The number of cells is added to the force due to the above knuckle joint force, but it is directly applied to the cylindrical wall.
The total force generated by the pressure is basically the axial direction of the cylindrical wall area where this pressure is applied.
It depends on the length and does not depend on the number of cells arranged in parallel within that range.
The smaller the width, the greater the number of cells arranged in parallel for a given axial distance.
Therefore, it is possible to increase the separation force applied to the cylindrical wall over the entire axial distance.
it can.
In addition, besides increasing the overall force, increasing the number of cells
Each cell or each is arranged in parallel, as will be more clearly understood below.
The local deformation of the roll is reduced by individually adjusting the pressure in
It can be easily understood that the adjustment can be made more effectively.
For this reason, in the special configuration of the present invention, the cell assembly is more
Cells of the same group, and connect the cells of the same group
Power can be supplied and the supply pressure to the two different groups can be adjusted individually.
Place the cell over the entire axial length of the outer shell, or part of the axial length, e.g.
For example, by arranging only at both ends or only at the center,
The deformation can be made more specific. In the latter case, the outer shell is the hub axle
It can be directly mounted in a known manner on a linear area or a cell-free area.
Can be.
Deformable shell consists of independent cells with inner and outer cylindrical walls
can do. In this case, place each cell axially between the outer shell and the hub.
And arranged in parallel. Alternatively, separate the inner and outer cylindrical walls
It can also be a single piece, with the side walls of each cell arranged side by side on each.
You.
Another advantage and feature of the present invention is that the continuous casting between the two rolls of the present invention.
Will become more apparent from the following description of the equipment and rolls of the rolling mill.
FIG. 1 shows the rolls of an apparatus for continuous casting between rolls according to the invention in a radial plane.
Sectional view cut.
FIG. 2 and FIG. 3 are conceptual diagrams showing two methods of applying the roll of the present invention to a rolling mill.
FIG.
FIGS. 4 and 5 show two embodiments using cells only for part of the axial length of the shell.
FIG.
FIG. 6 shows a deformable system consisting of a number of independent cells arranged axially in parallel.
FIG. 4 is a diagram of another embodiment showing the well.
The roll shown in FIG. 1 is for continuous casting between two rolls.
Is well known. Here, the device has two rolls, the walls of which are internal
Reminded that it is forcibly cooled by a cooling fluid circulating through the air. casting
In the device, the axes of these rolls are parallel to each other, located in a horizontal plane and opposite to each other.
Rotated in opposite directions. About the arrangement of this roll and the means for cooling its walls
See European Patent Nos. 0499562 and 0428464.
The roll of FIG. 1 has a shaft 1, a hub 2, an outer shell 3 and an intermediate deformation
A possible shell 4, which is located between the hub 1 and the outer shell 3,
They are coaxial.
The outer shell 3 is made of copper or an alloy having excellent heat transfer properties,
A number of axially extending cooling channels 31 are drilled in the
You. The distribution channel 21 for guiding the coolant to the cooling channel 31 is formed inside the hub 2.
Have been. This coolant is supplied to the supply channels formed inside the rotary joints 24 and 25 at the ends.
The supply and discharge are performed via a valve 22 and a return channel 23. Configure the cooling circuit as a whole
The configuration of these various channels can be changed without departing from the scope of the present invention.
it can. Another configuration of the cooling circuit is described, for example, in EP 0 284 864.
The middle shell 4 has an inner cylindrical wall 41 which contacts the hub 2 and an outer shell which contacts the outer shell 3.
And a side cylindrical wall 42. The inner cylindrical wall 41 abuts the hub shoulder 26 with a nut 27
Thus, its axial position is maintained.
The space between the inner cylindrical wall 41 and the outer cylindrical wall 42 is defined by a number of annular cells 43.
. Each annular cell 43 has a side wall 44, 44 ', and a hollow cell about the axis of rotation A of the roll.
The shape of the ring. That is, each annular cell 43 is
1) The roll axis side is defined by a part of the inner cylindrical wall 41,
2) The outside is defined by a part of the outer cylindrical wall 42,
3) The lateral side is defined by side walls 44, 44 '.
In the cross section cut in the radial plane shown in FIG. 1, two of any one annular cell 43
Side walls 44, 44 'are curved such that the convex surfaces face each other. Side wall
44, 44 'are respectively connected to the inner cylindrical wall 41 and the outer cylindrical wall 42 by welding 45, for example.
Have been. The side walls 44, 44 'are thin, for example a few millimeters,
It is elastically deformed by the applied internal pressure.
The axial position of the outer shell 3 with respect to the deformable shell 4 is, for example, an outer circle
It is defined by a ring 32 arranged in a circumferential groove formed in the cylindrical wall 42. This phosphorus
When the roll 32 is installed, the boss 32 is inserted into a corresponding groove formed in the bore of the outer shell 3.
Is pushed by the rod 33. In practice, the outer shell 3 can be deformed first
On the flexible shell 4 and then use the rod 33 from inside the deformable shell 4
And press the ring 32 to securely key the axial direction of the two shells 3, 4
Finally, an assembly of the two shells 3 and 4 is mounted on the hub 2.
Pressurized fluid is supplied to the annular cell 43 via supply lines 51, 52, 53. Offering
The supply lines 51, 52, 53 are connected to independently adjustable pressurized liquid sources (not shown).
You. In the embodiment shown, the supply line 51 supplies directly to the first cell (left side in FIG. 1).
Connecting the two adjacent cells through the side wall of the two adjacent cells.
The pressurized liquid is supplied to three consecutive cells by the inlet 51 '. Supply line 52 is
It passes through the first four cells and opens into the fifth cell, via connection line 52 '.
Then, the pressurized liquid is continuously supplied to the following seven cells. Similarly, connecting lines

It is preferred that each side wall be welded or brazed at points where it passes through the side walls 44, 44 'to maintain
Good. However, the supply line can deform the side walls 44, 44 'when the cell is pressurized.
It has sufficient deformability in order to achieve this. However, this deformation is small.
The communication between the cooling channel 31 of the outer shell 3 and the distribution channel 21 of the hub is a roll

Another application example is shown.
FIG. 4 shows another configuration of the roll of the present invention, in which the hub 210 has a central portion.
It has a shoulder 211 having a diameter substantially the same as the inner diameter of the outer shell 310. Outside
The well 310 can be rigidly connected to the shoulder 211, in which case the cell 430 is located on both sides of the shoulder.
Are arranged only at the axial ends.
FIG. 5 shows that, contrary to the above embodiment, the hub 220 is shouldered only at one axial end of the roll.
FIG. 4 shows a configuration in which the end of the shell is directly supported on the shoulder 221
. The axially opposite end of the shell is supported by a bush supported on the hub. Strange
Shapeable shell located between shoulder 221 and bush 222 in the axial center of the roll
Have been. The nut 223 fixes the position of the bush 222 in the axial direction.
In the variation shown in FIG. 6, a deformable shell 404 has a plurality of independent cells
It is arranged side by side in the line direction. In this case, the inner and outer cylindrical walls are
Not common to multiple cells as in the example, each cell 414 has its own outer cylinder
It has a wall 415 and an inner cylindrical wall 416, which are generally annular by the cylindrical wall and the side walls.
Independent elements are configured. In this case, part of the axial length of the outer shell
Alternatively, a deformable shell is constructed by stacking multiple annular elements on the whole.
It is. This variant makes maintenance easier.
The present invention is not limited to the configuration described above as an example. In particular, one
The cell and the means for supplying pressure thereto can be of various designs.
