Read / write device for optical media
An optical head that projects a light beam on a disc-shaped medium, and multiple heads from the current track
Control means for directing a light beam across a target track to a target track.
For reading and writing from a disk-shaped medium having a plurality of tracks
It is about.
This type of device is well known and includes a CD-ROM and a video disk (videodisk).
) Or from an optical information carrier such as an audiodisk.
And / or writing. For this purpose, the laser beam
Generally used to follow a track. The same laser beam is
Used to read information from the client. Information is read from a CD-ROM track
Before being written or written, the optical head must be moved to the relevant track.
Would. In the normal search method, the optical head starting from a certain zeroth track runs
This is done by counting the number of tracks passing by.
Moving. Thus, the position of the optical head is determined in the radial direction.
A first object of the device according to the invention is to provide an optical head when the position sensor is not operating.
To determine the position of the pad. A second object of the device according to the invention is that
The purpose is to limit the movement of the optical head during the search operation.
To this end, the device according to the invention described in the opening paragraph is
A first and a second means for determining the position of the optical head in a radial direction of a plurality of tracks;
And second position sensing means.
The first position sensing means may comprise a track counter. Preferred practice
Aspects further include a plurality of tracks in which the first position sensing means runs across a head.
Is designed to determine the radial position of the optical head based on
It is.
Further, in a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the second position sensing means may be, for example, a first element.
By mounting the element, ie, the position indicator, on the head, a second element,
That is, by mounting the reading element of the position indicator to a housing.
And vice versa, designed to operate independently of multiple tracks.
The first element is a loop designed as an encoder with a plurality of equidistant lines.
A ruler, and said second element illuminates said ruler.
System that incorporates elements that are transmitted or reflected by the ruler
A detection element for detecting the received light.
Still further, in a preferred embodiment, the accuracy of the second position sensing means is equal to the first position sensing means.
Much lower than the accuracy of the position sensing means, which can be realized at almost lower cost
is there. The second position sensing means is used when the information from the first position sensing means is not useful.
Can be used to limit the movement of the recording / read head. Second place
The position sensing means is preferably more accurate than the first position sensing means by a factor of 10 to 100.
drop down.
In particular, if the read head is a bob instead of a spindle motor
Read if set to move by voice coil motor
It is necessary to control the movement of the head. Voice coil motor is spindle motor
Move the read head much faster than However, read
The position of the head is generally controlled by a closed loop, thereby
The locking error signal, i.e. the difference between the measured position and the desired position, is justified
Applied to the vessel. The position adjuster applies an extremely large signal to the voice coil motor.
To provide a stop to the read head that may result in damage.
To prevent this, a preferred embodiment is based on information from the second position sensing means.
Therefore, a protection device for restricting the movement of the optical head is provided for the optical head.
It is characterized by the following.
The device according to the invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings described below.
In the drawing:

The coil motor moves the lens 14 in the radial direction for fine positioning of the lens.
Moving fine positioning motor, eg small voice coil connected to lens 14
Motor moves relative to the small frame 15 over a limited radial distance
It is possible. This limited distance is one dozen from several tracks on the optical disc.
The number of tracks. The position of the lens 14 with respect to the small frame 15
It is detected by the transmitter 16 and the optical receiver 17. The optical receiver 17 has a small
It is detected whether the frame 15 has passed a certain limit in the radial direction. If so
In some cases, the lens 14 can be used without losing tracks on the optical disc.
The small frame moves in the radial direction so that the center position of the small frame 15 is restored.
It is moved by a slide motor.
A lens 14 is used to focus the laser beam on the optical disk.
Moving the optical disc 2 in the direction of the optical disc 2 is, for example, a small voice connected to a lens.
It is also possible with a focusing motor designed as a coil motor. light
Laser light reflected by the optical disk is transmitted to the base plate via the optical disk.
It is reflected back to the connected optical detector.
The signal output by the optical detector is a tracking error signal, focusing error.
Decomposed into a signal comprising the difference signal and the information contained in the tracks of the optical disc
. The tracking error signal is sent to the lens via a first control unit (not shown).
Connected to the fine positioning motor that operates in the radial direction
The focusing error signal is sent to a focusing motor via a second control unit (not shown).
Is applied to The slide motors 9, 10 are controlled by a third control unit

Is shown. FIGS. 2A and 2B show a first motor connected to one of a plurality of slide motors 9.
One ruler 18 is shown. The ruler has a number of equally spaced

The radial distance to disk 2 is equal to one-quarter the distance between the two slots. Movement
The direction is determined by combining a plurality of signals in a known manner in the prior art.
At least two modes of operation are distinguished in the device according to the invention. First operation
In the mode, an arbitrary track is followed and read. In the second operation mode,
A rack is found. Finding tracks takes as little time as possible
This should be done on a computer where the information is distributed over the entire disc surface.
This is particularly important for applications. In the track finding process, the optical head
As they move across the tracks, the tracks are subsequently counted. It
The distance between the first track and the target track is known, and
Compared to the number of racks.

In the example, the information provided by the ruler may cause local damage to the disk and
It can be used if the rack counter is disabled.
However, in an exceptionally preferred embodiment, the ruler is a factor of 10 to 100
Provides low-accuracy location information, which can be implemented at a much lower cost.
