Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To bring insertion holes of a rubber stopper close to insulation displacement contact positions of electric wires. SOLUTION: In this connector, a rubber stopper 30 separately formed from a housing 10 is formed with insertion holes 31 in its center height positions, while a hard resin plate 40 is stuck to the front face of the rubber stopper 30. The resin plate 40 is installed to the rear face of the housing 10 with ribs and guide grooves to freely slide up and down. When the housing 10 is set onto a insulation displacement contact mold, the rubber stopper 30 is supported in a higher position than a regularly arranged position in the rear face of the housing 10. Electric wires 35 are inserted straight through the insertion holes 31 and insertion holes 41 above insulation displacement contact blades 23 of insulation displacement contact terminals 20. When the electric wires 35 are brought into pressure-contact with the insulation displacement contact blades 23, the rubber stopper 30 is pressed down. The insertion holes 31 of the rubber stopper 30 are brought close to the insulation displacement contact positions of the electric wires 35.

2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, as a press-contact type waterproof connector of this type, a connector described in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 9-92384 is known. In general, a rubber plug is provided on the rear side of a housing in which a plurality of press-connecting terminals to which electric wires are connected by press-fitting are housed, and a rubber plug that penetrates the wires in a watertight manner is provided. Then, the entrance of the accommodation hole is closed with a rubber stopper.

[0003] In this case, pressure welding of electric wires is performed as follows. As shown in FIG.
A plurality of cavities d accommodating a pressure contact terminal c having a pressure contact blade b are formed side by side in a horizontal direction, a pressure contact opening e is provided on an upper surface of each cavity d, and a rear surface side of each cavity d is formed. A one-piece rubber plug f is provided integrally, and an insertion hole g through which the electric wire h can be inserted in a watertight manner is formed in the rubber plug f so as to correspond to each cavity d. In this case, the position of the insertion hole g is such that the electric wire h is
It is formed at a position higher than the press contact blade b so that it can be inserted above the press contact blade b without interference.

However, in the prior art, the insertion position of the electric wire h with respect to the rubber plug f is higher than the position of the press contact blade b as described above. The portion protruding forward from the insertion hole g of f is bent downward while being bent. Then, the electric wire h compresses the lower surface side of the front end of the insertion hole g, and instead creates a gap on the upper surface side, and the sealing performance around the electric wire h may be impaired.

Further, since the electric wire is inserted at a position higher than the center of the rubber plug f, there is also a problem that a difference in wall thickness occurs between the upper and lower portions of the insertion hole g, and the elasticity is different, so that a uniform seal cannot be expected. there were. However, if the thickness on the upper side of the insertion hole g is made large, the seal can be made uniform. However, in this case, the rubber stopper f becomes large and the accommodation hole provided in the frame has to be enlarged, and thus the connector There was a problem that the size was increased. The present invention has been completed on the basis of the above circumstances, and an object of the present invention is to enable a rubber stopper insertion hole to be brought to a position close to a press-contact position of an electric wire.

<Operation and effect of the present invention><Invention of claim 1> When an electric wire is inserted into the insertion hole with the rubber stopper first attached, the electric wire is brought to the side without interfering with the press-contact blade. You. When the electric wire is pressed against the pressing blade, the rubber stopper is slid to the proper position. The sliding of the rubber plug to the normal position may be performed simultaneously with the pressure welding of the electric wire, or before or after the pressure welding of the electric wire. Thereby, the position where the electric wire is pressed against the press-contact blade and the position of the insertion hole of the rubber plug can be matched or approached. As a result, it is possible to prevent the tensile force acting on the electric wire from being applied to the insertion hole due to the pressure contact, to prevent the insertion hole from being deformed, and to secure the sealing property. Further, even if the insertion hole is set at the center of the rubber plug, the insertion of the electric wire and the subsequent pressure contact can be performed, and as a result, the thickness of both sides of the insertion hole can be substantially equal, and a uniform seal can be achieved. . Moreover, since the rubber stopper is attached to the housing, the rubber stopper has excellent holding power.

As described above, according to the present embodiment,
The rubber stopper 30 is initially supported above the regular arrangement position, and after the electric wire 35 is inserted, is pressed and simultaneously lowered to the normal position.
The insertion operation of the rubber plug 30 can be made as close as possible to the pressure-contact position of the electric wire 35 at the time of press-contact while ensuring the insertion operation without interfering with the wire 3. As a result, it is possible to avoid as much as possible that the tensile force acting on the electric wire 35 due to the pressing is applied to the insertion hole 31, the deformation of the insertion hole 31 can be prevented, and the sealing property is secured. Further, even if the insertion hole 31 is set at the center in the height direction of the rubber plug, since the insertion of the electric wire 35 and the subsequent pressure contact can be performed, the thickness of the upper and lower sides of the insertion hole 31 can be made substantially equal, and the uniformity can be obtained. Sealing can be achieved.

<Other Embodiments> The present invention is not limited to the embodiments described above and illustrated in the drawings. For example, the following embodiments are also included in the technical scope of the present invention. In addition, various changes can be made without departing from the scope of the invention. (1) In the above embodiment, the lowering operation of the rubber stopper is performed at the same time as the pressing operation of the electric wire, but may be performed before or after the pressing operation if the electric wire is inserted. (2) A temporary locking mechanism may be provided between the rib and the guide groove to hold the resin plate, that is, the rubber plug, at a position higher than the regular arrangement position. (3) Instead of attaching a separate resin plate, a hard portion may be provided on the front surface of the rubber plug by two-color molding, and a coupling portion and a guide groove may be formed in the hard portion. Alternatively, the connecting portion and the guide groove may be formed directly on the front side of the rubber stopper.

(4) Contrary to the above embodiment, a rib may be provided on the rubber stopper side and a guide groove may be provided on the housing side. (5) Further, in the pressing step, the rubber plug may be placed and supported on a vertically movable pedestal so that the rubber plug is pushed down and the pedestal is lowered when the electric wire is pressed. (6) In the above embodiment, the housing mounted on the frame has been exemplified. However, the present invention can be similarly applied to a case where the housing is fitted to the mating housing alone without being mounted on the frame. (7) The present invention can be similarly applied to a male pressure contact type waterproof connector.

1. A rubber plug having an insertion hole through which an electric wire can be inserted in a watertight manner is disposed on a rear surface side of a housing in which a press-contact terminal is accommodated, and a press-contact blade of the press-contact terminal passes the electric wire through the insertion hole. In a method for manufacturing a pressure-contact type waterproof connector in which the rubber plug is inserted into the side and then pressed toward the pressure-contact blade to make a pressure-contact connection, the rubber plug extends along the pressure-contact direction of the electric wire with respect to the rear surface of the housing. The rubber plug can be slidably assembled, and this rubber plug is pre-assembled behind the normal installation position in the pressing direction, and when pressing the wire inserted through the rubber plug, the rubber plug is inserted into the proper position. A method for manufacturing a press-contact type waterproof connector, wherein the connector is slid toward an arrangement position.
