【請求項1】
リージョングローイング法によって関心領域の点として抽出すべきか否かを判断する対象点が、該対象点の近傍点の情報に基づいて拡張される方向の方向ベクトルを求める算出手段と、
前記算出手段によって求められた所定の抽出時点間に存在する複数の点の方向ベクトルに基づいて関心領域の分岐の有無を判定する判定手段と、
前記判定手段によって判定された結果に基づいて前記リージョングローイング法によって対象領域を拡張する際の拡張条件を設定する設定手段と、
を備えたことを特徴とする領域拡張装置。
【請求項2】
前記判定手段によって前記関心領域の分岐が有ると判定された場合、各分岐した領域ごとに区分された複数の点の方向ベクトルの平均ベクトルを算出する手段を更に備え、
前記設定手段は、前記算出された平均ベクトルの方向への領域拡張を促すように前記リージョングローイング法によって対象領域を拡張する際の拡張条件を設定することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の領域拡張装置。
