Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time needed when a voltage is high, to prevent the increase of the size and cost of an electronic camera, to protect photographed image data when a power supply voltage drops and to eliminate reduction in the number of frames capable of being photographed. SOLUTION: The electronic camera is constituted so that a signal processing means 11 is composed of a photoelectric conversion element 7, an image processing means 8 for executing processing together with conversion and a recording means 10 for recording image data on a storage medium 9 and provided with a photographing preparing means 6, a voltage detecting means 14 for detecting the state of a power supply and a power supply control means 13 for controlling the power supply destination of the power supply. In such a case, the power supply control means 13 discriminates between the time when the first state where the state of the power supply detected by the voltage detecting means 14 is higher than a prescribed value is obtained and the time when the second state where the state of the power supply detected by the voltage detecting means 14 is lower than the prescribed value is obtained and executes control the permission, inhibition, etc., of the supply of the power to the signal processing means 11 and the photographing preparing means 6.

2. Description of the Related Art In a conventional electronic camera, a photographing preparation operation such as driving a lens for shutter charging and focusing, and signal processing such as image capture, data processing, and data recording on a recording medium are simultaneously performed. One power supply supplies power for the shooting preparation operation and signal processing. This aims to reduce the time required for photographing one frame by simultaneously performing the photographing preparation operation and the signal processing. Further, when the power supply voltage drops so that recording on the recording medium is impossible, photographing is prohibited.

However, in the above-mentioned conventional electronic camera, power is supplied by one power supply for photographing preparation operation and signal processing, and power consumption is large. Within a small amount, the power reaches a power supply voltage that cannot be recorded on the recording medium, and photography is prohibited.
There is a disadvantage that the number of shootable images decreases. In order to solve the above drawback, it is conceivable to reduce the power consumption by performing a shooting preparation operation after the signal processing is completed, but there is a drawback that the time required for shooting one frame at a high voltage is increased.

A signal processing means for converting a subject image into an image signal; an image processing means for performing processing together with the conversion; and a recording means for recording image data processed by the image processing means on a recording medium. An electronic camera comprising: a photographing preparation unit for performing a photographing preparation operation; a power supply state detection unit for detecting a power supply state; and a power supply control unit for controlling a power supply destination of the power supply. The means determines when the power state detected by the power state detecting means is a first state higher than a predetermined value and when the power state detected by the power state detecting means is a second state lower than a predetermined value. An electronic camera for performing control such as permission or suppression of power supply to a signal processing unit and a photographing preparation unit.
