The novel optically pure compounds, i.e. the single enantiomeric compounds(+) -5- carbomethoxy -6- methyl -2-[ 3.4-dimethoxy-2- pyridinyl) methyl] sulfinyl] 1H, benzimidazole and (-) 5- carbomethoxy -6- methyl -2-[ 3.4-dimethoxy-2- pyridinyl) methyl] sulfinyl] 1H, benzimidazole-1-H benzimidazole or a therapeutically acceptable salt thereof, such as Na+, Mg2+, Li+,K+, Ca2+ and N + ( R ) 4 salts, where R is an alkyl group with 1-4 carbon atoms , process for the preparation thereof and pharmaceutical preparations containing the compounds as active ingredients, as well as the used of the compounds in pharmaceutical preparation and intermediates obtained by preparing the compounds.
