E’ noto nello stato della tecnica l’impiego di un casco quale dispositivo di protezione e sicurezza. I caschi vengono utilizzati in varie attività sportive, quali ad esempio sciismo, motociclismo, ciclismo, climbing, skating, pattinaggio ed altri ancora. In particolare, i caschi vengono utilizzati obbligatoriamente anche per attività di semplice trasporto civile, come ad esempio per la guida di un motociclo. Per semplicità espositiva, nel seguito verrà considerato a titolo esemplificativo il caso sopracitato del guidatore di un motociclo.
