Il sistema utilizza un monitoraggio mediante smartphone dove i BARCODE 2D rappresentano il codice univoco per identificare da parte del manutentore il singolo oggetto (in simil modo ai codici a barre). Inoltre, a differenza del precedente brevetto il BARCODE 2D è il punto di accesso all'internet delle cose e comunica informazioni a seconda dell'utente, consentendo sia un controllo da parte del proprietario del singolo dispositivo (e.g. estintore) in suo possesso, per richiedere assistenza segnalando problematiche, per valutare 1'operato, per ottenere informazioni specifiche dell'oggetto e sulla normativa vigente, sia da parte di autorità competenti per controlli e intervento in caso di emergenza e sia per il processo di manutenzione, che può anche essere gestito tramite il classico BARCODE 1D/2D (che facilita la gestione IBRIDA da parte del terminale utente in caso di assenza di rete dati). Tale sistema permette guindi di realizzare task formativi, di condivisione, sensibilizzazione e crescita culturale in materia, di effettuare il monitoraggio del processo di gestione/manutenzione, di effettuare la valutazione della customer satisfaction. E' possibile inoltre interagire con gli altri oggetti correlati e geolocalizzati (e.g. stesso proprietario, stesso edificio, vincoli congiunti, vincoli amministrativi) all'oggetto considerato. Le informazioni di riferimento per la gestione della sicurezza del dispositivo sono resi disponibili anche ad utenti per il controllo normativo, controllo qualità e per verificare le condizioni in caso di emergenza.
