STATO DELLA TECNICA AL TEMPO DELL’INVENZIONE STATE OF THE TECHNIQUE AT THE TIME OF THE INVENTION

Attualmente, chi intende installare un computer in spazi ristretti, come armadi a rack chiusi o spazi cechi ricavati allinterno di pareti, ecc, dovrebbe mettere insieme l’unità principale in un telaio che abbia le connessioni verso le periferiche esterne (tastiera, monitor, ecc) concentrate possibilmente in unico punto. All’esterno dovrebbe predisporre un cablaggio appropriato, il più accessibile e funzionale possibile. In realtà ciò non è quasi mai possibile, salvo la costruzione artigianale di un telaio metallico o mobile apposito che risolva la situazione specifica. Infatti, oggi sul mercato esistono le seguenti soluzioni, a) telai da ufficio orizzontali o verticali (chiamati desktop o tower) b) telai industriali orizzontali che occupano da tre o quattro unità rack. Entrambi le soluzioni hanno con le connessioni a mezzo cavaetterie sul retro. Un elaboratore (computer) assemblato con un telaio tradizionale di tipo industriale, costringe l’installatore alle seguenti situazioni d’impiego disagevoli. 1) se il vano che dovrà ospitare il computer è un armadio a rack, il fondo dell’ armadio dovrà essere smontato per consentire le connessioni alle periferiche. 2) se lo spazio che dovrà ospitare il computer è incassato in una struttura qualsiasi, le connessioni di servizio dovranno necessariamente essere realizzate prima del posizionamento definitivo del computer nel vano con cavi elettrici di lunghezza maggiore per consentire il movimento. 3) se il locale che ospiterà l’elaboratore è uno sheher, il mobile al quale esso và ancorato deve essere munito di supporti ammortizzati antiurto. Il presente modello industriale di utilità e’ costituito da un telaio metallico delle seguenti dimensioni: larghezza=43,2, profondità=44,2, altezza=20,5 cm. opportunamente sagomato e forato come mostrato nelle tavole uno, due e tre. Il telaio si compone di quattordici parti tra cui se ne distingue una principale o base, che forma la scatola vera e propria, ed altre tredici parti minori. Esse sono: il pannello frontale, con due pannelli/maschera anteriori grandi e due piccoli, inoltre due posteriori; due supporti per ancoraggio delle varie memorie, un fermo di fissaggio delle schede figlie, il coperchio, una griglia per il filtro dell’aria, un’antina per bloccare l’accesso alle memorie tipo “drive”. Esso e’ stato progettato per alloggiare tutti i componenti elettronici standard di un computer tipo PC, perciò le dimensioni sono molto simili a quelle di un mobile convenzionale, cioè l'ingombro esterno è quello regolare dei mobili per rack standard diciannove pollici alti quattro unità. I componenti elettronici interni si possono bloccare con apposito fermo (tav. 2 - H) dotato di gommini allo scopo di sopportare urti accidentali.
