Come noto i crostacei marini (vongole, lupini, telline, cozze, capesante, ostriche, ecc ), i molluschi ed i frutti di mare in genere destinate alla vendita diretta al pubblico vengono usualmente confezionati in semplici calze di rete, chiuse alle due estremità. Tali retine, previste per legge, hanno il compito di tenere sacrificati i bivalvi in maniera da evitare la loro apertura. Esse presentano diverso colore a seconda del momento della lavorazione dei prodotti ittici: non ancora stabulati, già stabulati e pronti per la vendita, ecc.. All'interno ed all’esterno delle retine deve apparire, sempre per legge, la stampigliatura riportante i dati del produttore, del centro di raccolta o di stabulazione e la data di confezionamento. In alternativa può essere impiegato un nastro atto allo stesso scopo ed avente le estremità fissate stabilmente alle chiusure delle retine. I prodotti ittici sono dunque trasportati, immagazzinati e posti in vendita in imballaggi che non garantiscono alcuna protezione contro il loro contatto con le superfici di vendita (banconi, banchi frigoriferi, ecc.), di trasporto e di stoccaggio rendendoli così soggetti all 'azione del'ambiente. Tali scatole sono state descritte nella domanda di Brevetto per Modello di Utilità avente per titolo "Contenitore per prodotti ittici freschi e derrate alimentari in genere" dello stesso Richiedente, depositata in data 14.04.1995 con Verbale N° TS95U000004. Ciascuna di tali scatole è sagomata a prisma retto ottagonale, con quattro pareti laterali (opposte) di larghezza maggiore delle pareti laterali restanti.
