DESCRIZIONE dell'Invenzione Industriale dal titolo: DESCRIPTION of the Industrial Invention entitled:
"Dispositivo di sostegno per cavi aerei" "Support device for overhead cables"
DESCRIZIONE DESCRIPTION
The invention relates to a support device for overhead cables, such as electric cables, optical fiber cables and the like, for suspending cables at intervals on poles.
The suspension of overhead cables to road or railway poles usually takes place by intermediary of a wire rope supported at intervals by hooks or clamps carried by shelves, or, in the case of self-supporting cables, by direct gripping of the clamps on the cable. In any case, the cable must be lifted and temporarily hooked to the supports on the poles and, after the entire cable is in position and is moored to one end, the cable binding is recovered, the prescribed tension is applied, the cable at the other end and finally the intermediate supports on the poles are made definitive. This way of working is laborious, as it involves several work phases or successive steps. Another disadvantage is that the head posts must be braced to support the traction. Yet another drawback is that in the event of cable breakage, strong imbalances in force are created, with consequences such as the slipping off of large lengths of cable, or substantial damage to the cable sections adjacent to the break.
The object of the invention is therefore to provide a support device for overhead cables which allows the cable to be suspended with greater operating simplicity than known devices, and which in particular requires fewer operations.
Another object is to provide this device in such a way that it allows to avoid special reinforcements, such as tie rods or braced poles, for the head moorings.
Another purpose is to limit the damage in the event of a cable break.
These objects, together with others which will emerge from the following description, are achieved by the invention with a support device for overhead cables having the essential characteristics set out in claim 1.
The invention will now be described in more detail, with reference to a preferred embodiment illustrated in the accompanying drawings given for illustrative and non-restrictive purposes, and in which:
la Fig. 1 è una vista dall'alto di un dispositivo di sostegno secondo una realizzazione preferita dell'invenzione, parzialmente sezionato; Fig. 1 is a top view of a support device according to a preferred embodiment of the invention, partially sectioned;
la Fig. 2 è una vista frontale del dispositivo della Fig. 1, in scala ingrandita, parzialmente sezionata lungo la linea ΙΙ-II della Fig. 1; Fig. 2 is a front view of the device of Fig. 1, on an enlarged scale, partially sectioned along the line ΙΙ-II of Fig. 1;
la Fig. 3 è una vista laterale di una forcella facente parte del dispositivo della Fig. 2; Fig. 3 is a side view of a fork forming part of the device of Fig. 2;
Figs. 4 and 5 are longitudinal section views of a saddle and a counter-saddle respectively forming part of the device of Fig. 2.
In the Figures, a conventional pole 10 with a rectangular section carries a shelf consisting of two C-shaped jaws 12, 14, shaped to embrace the pole by opposite bands and to tighten it under the traction of screw rods 16, 18. The jaws 12, 14 they extend have respective cantilevered extensions, carved to form respective forks 20, 22 with internal seats with parallel sides and with a wide terminal chamfer, as shown in Fig. 3. A cable 24 runs along the pole 10, for example a cable of elements optical fibers and / or electrical conductors enclosed in a known way within a protective sheath. The cable 24 is embraced between two identical saddles 26, 28, surrounded in turn by respective counter saddles 30, 32.
Each saddle 26 or 28 (see Fig. 4) consists of a half-shell which has a cylindrical concave surface 34 complementary to the external surface of the cable and resting on it, and an external convex surface having a substantially cylindrical intermediate section 35 and respective sections terminals 36, 38 substantially frusto-conical, with a small taper angle, preferably 4 °, although its value may vary.
Each counter-saddle 30 or 32 (see Fig. 5) is a half-shell which has a concave surface with an intermediate section 40 approximately cylindrical and respective terminal sections 42, 44 substantially truncated cone, complementary to the sections 36, 38 of the saddles, but of shorter length. The external convex surface of the counter-saddle 30 or 32 is substantially cylindrical and has two pairs of perimeter ribs 46, 48 at the opposite ends, at a mutual distance equal to the distance between the forks 20, 22.
The assembly of the cable, saddles and counter-saddles is inserted in the forks 20, 22, which penetrate between the respective pairs of ribs 46, 48. After the assembly has been placed in the forks, two pins 50, 52 are inserted into the holes made on the forks 20, 22 to act as restraint means suitable for preventing the slipping of the groups from the forks.
The interval between each pair of perimeter ribs is considerably greater than the thickness of the fork, so as to allow its insertion even in the presence of significant variations in the reciprocal positioning between the two forks.
The gap between the two parallel sides of each fork is such that the insertion between the ribs takes place with precise coupling, or preferably with slight interference, with the cylindrical surface of the counter-saddle.
The saddles 26, 28 and the counter saddles 30, 32 are sized to extend around the cable for an angular width slightly less than 180 °, so that, when they embrace the cable as shown in Fig. 2, a gap remains at rest between them.
Both the saddles and the counter-saddles are preferably molded in a reinforced synthetic material, such as polycarbonate loaded with glass fibers, but other materials, including metallic ones, such as aluminum for example, can also be used.
It will appear evident to those skilled in the art that when a length of cable enclosed between saddles and counter-saddles and inserted into the forks is subjected to traction in one direction or the other, the saddles will tend to translate in the direction of traction, and one or the other another of their truncated cone sections will press on the respective truncated cone sections of the counter saddles, meeting the contrast of the forks both in the longitudinal and radial sense. The conical surfaces will transform the longitudinal tension on the cable and on the saddles and counter-saddles into a radial compression that locks the cable, tightening it for an appreciable length, sufficient to lock the cable with respect to traction without damaging the cable with excessive specific pressures.
The tension on each cable section between two successive poles is therefore substantially independent of the adjacent cable sections, and any breakage of the cable in a given section does not involve the rest of the cable beyond the delimiting poles.
The suspension of the cable to a row of poles by means of respective support devices such as the one described above can take place as follows. Having previously fixed the brackets 12-22 to the poles, the cable 24 is extended to the ground along the poles and, after having moored the head of the cable, saddles 26, 28 and counter saddles 30, 32 are applied to the cable at the first pole, the assembly 24-32 is raised up to the bracket and the assembly is inserted into the forks 20, 22, the retainers 50, 52 are applied, and a desired tension is imparted to the cable by means of a conventional tensioner (not shown) applied downstream of the bracket . By releasing the tensioner, the tension of the cable will cause a slight translation of the saddles and counter-saddles (for example towards the left in Fig. 2) until the right ribs of the pairs of ribs 46, 48 abut against the forks 20, 22, blocking the cable as described above.
After the suspension at the first pole, proceed in the same way for the next section of the cable, and so on until the end, where the tail of the cable is moored, without having to return with subsequent operations on the suspensions already carried out.
Since the tension on each section of cable is absorbed autonomously by the two supports that delimit it, the load on the head moorings is only that associated with a single section, and therefore of the same order of magnitude as the load on the other supports. Therefore the head poles do not require greater reinforcements than the intermediate poles, and on the contrary it is possible, if desired, to carry out the mooring with the same device described above.
A preferred embodiment of the invention has been described, but it is evident that it is susceptible to variations within the inventive idea. The bracket 12-18 can be made in any known way, its method of anchoring to the pole being foreign to the heart of the invention. The forks 20, 22 could have the opening facing upwards, rather than laterally. The engagement between the forks 20, 22 and the perimeter ribs 46, 48 could be replaced by other equivalent bidirectional holding means. The saddles 26, 28 and the counter saddles 30, 32 could also be modified as regards the respective frusto-conical surfaces, which could be replaced by flat inclined surfaces, that is substantially in cones with zero radius of curvature. Terms such as "fork", "rib", "cone" are therefore to be understood in this expanded sense, both in the description in the claims.
