Description
DESCRIZIONE dell’invenzione industriale dal titolo: "Scambiatore di calore per veicoli e procedimento per l'assemblaggio di una rete scambiatrice di calore” DESCRIPTION of the industrial invention entitled: "Heat exchanger for vehicles and procedure for the assembly of a heat exchanger network"
The present invention relates to a heat exchanger for vehicles, in particular a condenser for air conditioning systems.
Queste categorie sono: Heat exchangers for automotive use can be divided into two basic categories according to the technology used for their production. These categories are:
The aforesaid categories refer to the way in which the connection is made between the pipes inside which the heat-carrying liquid passes and the metal fins that transfer the heat to the flow of cooling air.
Brazed condensers are generally formed of flat tubes bent in a serpentine configuration and corrugated or wavy fins are inserted between each pair of adjacent branches of the tube. The fixing between the fins and the branches of the tube is obtained by means of a brazing process.
In expanded or mechanically assembled condensers, the heat exchange network is formed by a plurality of tubes and by a pack of substantially flat fins. The tubes are inserted into corresponding aligned holes of the fins and the tube-fins assembly is carried out by expanding the tubes after they have been inserted with play within the holes of the fins.
The present invention specifically relates to heat exchangers of the mechanically assembled type and in particular relates to exchangers intended to be used as condensers in vehicle air-conditioning systems.
Condensers for automotive use are subjected to much heavier working conditions than, for example, engine cooling radiators or cabin heat exchangers.
In particular, the condensers are subjected to pressures of the heat-carrying liquid that can reach values higher than 25 bar and temperatures of over 110 ° C. Supply specifications generally require that the condenser must not undergo permanent deformation in any part with internal pressure in the pipes of the order of 40 bar (test pressure), while with pressures equal to twice the test pressure (about 80 bar) the condenser must not burst.
Such severe operating conditions impose many limits in the choice of the section of the pipes and in the general sizing of the heat exchange network. In particular, it has been seen that it is very difficult to produce condensers of the mechanically assembled type using tubes with an oblong section, which would allow to obtain a greater heat exchange efficiency compared to tubes with a circular section.
The present invention aims to provide a heat exchanger intended in particular to be used as a condenser for automotive-type air conditioning systems, made according to mechanical assembly technology and equipped with tubes with an oblong section.
According to the present invention, this object is achieved by making a heat exchanger having the characteristics forming the subject of claim 1.
The present invention also relates to a process for assembling a heat exchange network, the characteristics of which form the subject of claims 2, 3 and 4.
Ulteriori caratteristiche e vantaggi della presente invenzione risulteranno evidenti nel corso della descrizione dettagliata che segue, data a puro titolo di esempio non limitativo, con riferimento ai disegni allegati, in cui: Further characteristics and advantages of the present invention will become evident in the course of the detailed description which follows, given purely by way of non-limiting example, with reference to the attached drawings, in which:
la fig.l è una vista prospettica schematica di uno scambiatore di calore secondo la presente invenzione, Fig. 1 is a schematic perspective view of a heat exchanger according to the present invention,
la fig.2 è una vista prospettica schematica illustrante un utensile di mandrinatura utilizzato durante il procedimento secondo l’invenzione, e Fig. 2 is a schematic perspective view illustrating a rolling tool used during the process according to the invention, and
Fig. 3 is a schematic plan view according to arrow III of Fig. 2.
Referring initially to Fig. 1, the number 10 indicates as a whole a heat exchanger comprising a pack of substantially flat metal fins 12 provided with holes through which a plurality of tubes 14 with an oblong cross section extend, in the specific case oval. In the following description and in the claims, by "oblong" cross section is meant any non-circular cross section with a major axis and a minor axis and by this term we mean including oval, oval, elliptical cross sections and also cross sections flat with two parallel walls and two semicircular connection areas.
Referring to Figs. 2 and 3, each tube 14 is formed by a wall 16 and by a longitudinal stiffening partition 18 which extends along the minor axis of the cross section of the tube 14. The tube 14 is obtained by extrusion and consists of easily extrudable metal material, such as for example aluminum or copper. The internal stiffening septum 18 is formed integrally with the wall 16 during the extrusion of the tube.
Each tube 14 is inserted with slight play within a series of aligned holes 20 of the fins 14. Preferably, in correspondence with each hole 20 the fins 12 have a collar 22 which adheres, once the assembly process is complete, to the external surface of the wall of the tube.
The fixing of the tubes 14 to the fins 12 is obtained by imparting to the tubes a permanent deformation by means of bending, such as to recover the play existing between the outer surface of the tube and the inner surface of the collars 22 and to cause an elastic deformation of the fins in correspondence with the holes 20. The deformation of the tube is obtained by means of a rolling tool 24 including two symmetrical heads 26 carried by rods 28 which can be moved in unison in the direction indicated by the arrows 30 by means of a conventional type actuator (not shown). Each head is inserted into a respective channel of the tube 14 and exerts on the tube a deformation force F directed along the major axis of the cross section of the tube 14 (see Fig. 3).
The deformation force F is applied on the zones 32 of the tube 14 having a smaller radius of curvature and causes an expansion of the tube from the original configuration illustrated with dashed line and dot in fig. 3 to the final configuration illustrated in the same figure with dashed line continuous. The deformation force F causes a reaction which is discharged onto the stiffening partition 18. Since the reaction forces produced by the two rods 26 are of equal amplitude and opposite each other, the partition 18 is the area of the tube with the greatest radius of curvature they are substantially undeformed at the end of the rolling process.
The heads 26 have internal reaction surfaces equipped with a relief 34, so as to concentrate the reaction force on the connection areas between the stiffening baffle 18 and the wall 16 in order to reduce the sliding friction during the rolling step. .
A tube made according to the present invention is particularly suitable for the manufacture of condensers, since it has a strong resistance to high internal pressures. This allows a free choice of the dimensions of the oval section tube when sizing the heat exchanger. Thanks to the stiffening action of the septum 18, it is possible, under the same conditions, to obtain a reduction in the thickness of the pipe wall and therefore a reduction in weight. Consequently, since the thickness of the pipe wall is smaller, the expansion process is easier.
Furthermore, while in the condensers of the traditional type the fins had a structural function, in the sense that they had to contribute to containing the tendency of the tube to expand under the action of the pressure of the fluid, with the structure according to the present invention it is possible to obtain a reduction of costs of the fins, since it is sufficient to use materials with poorer mechanical properties and less thickness for these fins.
