Retractable roof assembly (2; 20) for a motor vehicle (1) comprising a hatch (3; 21) adapted to close a trunk compartment (4) of the said motor vehicle (1), at least one covering panel (5), a rear window (10; 26) to allow visibility to the driver of said motor vehicle while driving e actuation means for moving said panel (5) and said door (3; 21) between an extracted position in which said panel (5) is adjacent to said door (3; 21) along one seam (28) and a retracted position in which said panel (5) is arranged below the said hatch (3; 21), said retractable roof assembly (2; 20) being characterized by the fact that said junction line (28) has a <L> O V NO PAOLO <(Iitl'tl> A <lb 9s9c> r <9> Bo <)> ao n <r>. intermediate section (28) spaced with respect to a plane (P) defined by a parcel shelf or by a portion (23) of said hatch (3; 21) able to close the said trunk compartment (4) at the top, called plane (P) being arranged substantially at the same height as an end portion (32) of the backrest of a seat of the said motor vehicle (1) adjacent to said boot compartment (4).

2. Retractable roof assembly according to claim 1, characterized in that the said intermediate section (28) is arranged above to said rear window (10; 26).
