DESCRIZIONE DELL'INVENZIONE INDUSTRIALE dal titolo: " IMPIEGO DI ESTERURETANI PER LA RICONCIA". DESCRIPTION OF THE INDUSTRIAL INVENTION entitled: "USE OF ESTERURETANES FOR RECONCIA".
DESCRIZIONE DESCRIPTION
The invention relates to the use of certain esterurethanes for the retanning of chrome-tanned leather. By "retanning1 'we mean the subsequent treatment of pre-tanned leather (generally chrome tanned) to optimize color, equality, softness, fullness as well as water behavior (hydrophobia), and to fix tanning materials.
The most important retanning materials today, in addition to the group of so-called syntanes, are polymerized compounds containing carboxylic groups in the form of salts (EP-A-118023 and 372 746, DE-OS 3931 039). However, polyurethanes have already been used for retanning, which optionally contain polyethylene oxide groups, ionic groups and respectively methylol groups (DE-OS 2504081).
The retanning materials known up to now do not meet all the expectations set for them, since they either insufficiently hydrophobic or disadvantageously influence the touch, the dyeability, the tendency to raised grain or the subsequent finishing of the leathers. The multiplicity of desirable characteristics forces a compromise. Retanning materials are desired which give the leather optimal hydrophobia (i.e. make the leather as impermeable to water as possible with the preservation of water vapor permeability), but do not negatively affect the touch, dyeability, tendency to raised grain and the applicability of the subsequent finishing.
Surprisingly it has now been found that the use of esterurethanes of a certain composition, free from polyether groups, gives the leather a happy combination of desirable characteristics.
Oggetto della invenzione è quindi l'impiego di prodotti di reazione di The object of the invention is therefore the use of reaction products of

The apparatus serves as a heatable round three-coli flask with a capacity of 500 ml which is equipped with a stirrer, reflux cooler with dropper tube as well as a dropping funnel.
17.9 g of glycerin monostearate (0.05 moles) is prepared in the flask. Subsequently 45 mg of dibutyl tin diacetate, 50 ml of anhydrous acetone and 14.72 ml (17.9 g) of toluylenediisocyanate-2.4 / 2.6 (80/20 ratio) (0.1028 moles) are added. Now it heats up to the boil for 30 minutes. Subsequently, within 10 minutes, 11.75 g of the triethylamine salt of the 2,2-bis (hydroxymethyl) -propionic acid (0.05 moles), dissolved in 50 ml of anhydrous acetone, are added dropwise. After 1 hour of reflux reaction time, the esterurethane formation is completed. The solution is clear, moderately viscous and slightly yellow tinted. For the dispersion, 250 ml of deionized water are now added dropwise, with the maintenance of a weak reflux of the acetone. After removal of the acetone by vacuum distillation, a solution of about 17% of the esterurethane is clear.

2.4 kg of shaved chrome-tanned leather (shaved thickness 1.1 mm) are treated for 30 minutes with 250% (referred to the shaved weight) of 40 ° C water, 0.5% (of an acid 8.5% aqueous formic), 0.1% of a liquid neutral emulsifier ® Baymol AN, which had been diluted with water in the ratio 1: 5) as well as 2% of a tanigan light solid tanning matter 3 LN). After draining the bath it is rinsed with 300% water of 40 ° C for 10 minutes and the bath is drained again.
After 45 minutes 7% of ® Chromopol AFS (Stokhausen) (which had previously been diluted with water in the ratio 1: 4) is added, it is left to flow for 30 minutes and another 1.5% of a neutralizing synthetic tanning material is added ( Tanigan PAK-N), 4% of a solid light exchange tanning material (Tanigan LD-N) and 3% of a resinous tanning material Retingan R7) and it is treated for another 15 minutes. In this comparison example it is now treated for 45 minutes with only 2% of a tanning material of acrylates © Baytigan AR, which had previously been diluted with water in the ratio 1: 3). In this case, the pH of the bath amounts to 5.3. Then 1.5% of sodium formate and 0.5% of sodium carbonate are added to this, it is left to flow for another 40 minutes (pH of the bath now 6.1). The leather carving with chromocresol green is now blue. It is discharged again for 40 minutes, washed with 300% hot water at 44 ° C for 10 minutes, discharged again and now start with the dyeing:

30% water of 25 ° C and 0.8 (% ammonia (25% aqueous solution that had previously been diluted with water in the ratio 1: 5) for 5 minutes, a mixture of 2% of a light-solid dispersing auxiliary tanning substance ® Baykanol SL), 3% of a light-solid yellow metal complex dye (® Baygenal beige L - NGR) and 0.3% of a light-solid metal complex dye (Baygenal grau L - NG) and let it flow for 30 minutes, then 10% of Chromopol AFS (which had previously been diluted with water in the ratio 1: 4) is added, after 30 minutes 150% of 70 ° C water is added , after another 5 minutes again 2% of Baytigan AR (which had previously been diluted with water in the ratio 1: 3), after 30 minutes 2.5% of formic acid (85% aqueous solution, which was diluted 1: 10 and 1.25% in two portions) which was added for 20 minutes (bath pH now 4.12) and the bath is drained. After that it is washed again (with 300% water of 40 ° C) and after 10 minutes with the lid open it is rinsed for 10 minutes with water of 25 ° C. The leathers are now removed, stretched wet and dried, conditioned, palletised, bottled and stretched and then evaluated.
b) secondo l'invenzione b) according to the invention
La valutazione dei due cuoi ha dato: Instead of Baytigan AR, the esterurethane to be used according to the invention is used and all the other parameters of the process are left constant. The evaluation of the two leathers gave:
Se sul cuoio secondo lo stato della tecnica viene fatta gocciolare una goccia d'acqua, essa affonda subito nel cuoio, mentre nel caso di cuoio di vitello secondo l'invenzione essa penetra nel sostrato lentamente soltanto dopo qualche tempo. the leather produced according to the state of the art is not entirely as soft as that according to the invention, the casting of the grain of the leather according to the invention is markedly better than that according to the state of the art. If a drop of water is dripped onto the leather according to the state of the art, it immediately sinks into the leather, while in the case of calf leather according to the invention it penetrates the substrate slowly only after some time.

Il pH ammonta a questo punto a 5,82%. 8 wet-blue splits halves with a thickness of 1.3 min, which were chrome tanned, were washed in 50 ° C (200%) water for 10 minutes and the bath was thrown away. After which 100% (referred to the shaved weight) water of 40 ° C is added, 2% of a neutralizing synthetic tanning material (Tanigan PAK-N) as well as 0.5% of sodium bicarbonate are added and slides for another 90 minutes. The pH now amounts to 5.82%.
Quindi si riconcia: The pre-greasing begins with 2% of a synthetic grease ® Coripol DX 902) (Stockhausen), which has been previously diluted with water in the ratio 1: 4) and is allowed to run for 15 minutes. Then it is retanned:
Dopo 20 minuti si imposta un valore di pH di 4. 2% of a partially neutralized polyacrylic acid (Baytigan AR, which had previously been diluted with water in the ratio 1; 3) is added as well as 1.5% of an acid polyetherester ® Levotan C). After 45 minutes the 6% of a light-solid synthetic exchange tanning material (Tanigan LD-N) and is allowed to flow for 15 minutes. The pH currently amounts to 5.36. Then 0.5% formic acid is added (all 185%, which was previously diluted with water in the ratio 1: 10) and it is left to flow for 15 minutes and the bath is discharged; pH 4.6. It is washed with 200% water of 60 ° C for 10 minutes and the bath is thrown away. So you get fat: 100% water (60 ° C), 6% of a light solid synthetic fat (Coripol DX 902) mixed with 1% of a synthetic ox foot oil replacement product (Coripol ICA) yes let it run for 45 minutes. The pH value amounts to 4.62. Then 1.5% of an acrylate binder ® Euderm Grund 25A, which had previously been diluted with water in the ratio 1: 4) is added and acidified after 30 minutes with 0.5 % formic acid (85%, which had been diluted with water in the ratio 1: 10). After 20 minutes a pH value of 4 is set.
It is rinsed for 5 minutes with water of 20 ° C and then the leathers can be removed. After drying in vacuum for 3 minutes at 70 ° C, the leathers are dried hanging. They are subjected to conditioning, peening, reaction and once again to a subsequent peening.
Part of the leather is then coated with a Levacast® coating (2-component reactive coating in the leather inversion process with the help of an isocyanate prepolymer and a partially block oligomeric hardener in a methylethylketone solution.
b) Secondo l'invenzione b) According to the invention
L'esempio viene ripetuto. In tal caso, al posto dell'acido poliacrilico parzialmente neutralizzato ( Baytigan AR) viene preso il 3,5% dell 'esteruretano da impiegare secondo 1'invenzione. The example is repeated. In this case, 3.5% of the esterurethane to be used according to the invention is taken instead of the partially neutralized polyacrylic acid (Baytigan AR).
The split leather, which was produced according to the state of the art and was examined after 24 hours, was markedly harder than that according to the invention. The same leathers, subsequently coated with Levacast, showed a better grain cast in the leather according to the invention than in the case of the leather according to the state of the art. The behavior when the leather bends is indicated as grain casting: a good grain casting is distinguished by the fact that only small pleats appear in the folding of the leather.
The leather, which had been produced according to the state of the art, is more hydrophilic than that according to the invention. In the case of leather according to the state of the art, a drop of water immediately sinks into the substrate; the leather produced according to the invention keeps the drop of water for a longer time. Surprisingly, however, this effect has no negative influence on the adhesion of the subsequent coating.
