Il problema di tutti i misuratori ambulatori della P.A. detti comunemente ABPM ( Automatic Blood Pressure Meter ) è quello delle relativamente grandi dimensioni, della rumorosità e del dovere tenere separati l’apparecchio vero e proprio, contenente i circuiti elettronici e pneumatici, dal bracciale di rilevamento della Pressione Arteriosa. Il collegamento pneumatico apparecchio - bracciale è effettuato da un tubo semirigido che crea fastidio al paziente ed introduce un’attenuazione del segnale oscillometrico in tutti gli apparecchi per la misura della Pressione Arteriosa che utilizzano il sistema oscillometrico. Tale sistema richiede inoltre bracciali standardizzati di grandi dimensioni ( rapportate alle dimensioni del braccio ) che, per il gonfiaggio, necessitano di pompe potenti e veloci ( grandi e rumorose ).
