Il filo interdentale è indispensabile per una corretta igiene della bocca perché il suo uso quotidiano ci permette di eliminare la placca batterica adesa alle superfici dentali cosiddette mesiali e distali (o interprossimali): le parti del dente che affacciandosi sullo spazio interdentale rimangono inaccessibili allo spazzolamento.
