Questi attrezzi, sia pur non avendo peso eccessivo, vengono utilizzati dopo averli applicati all'estremità di aste, soluzione che comporta per l'operatore sforzi muscolari assai gravosi per le braccia e per il collo. Spesso a tale inconveniente va aggiunto quello derivante dal fatto che l'attrezzo mantenuto in posizione elevata funziona generando notevoli vibrazioni (si pensi al caso di abbacchiatori o microscuotitori meccanici di frutta).
