Il trovato consiste in un tipo di posata caratterizzato dall'avere una sporgenza sul dorso dell'impugnatura tale da impedire il contatto della parte della posata che agisce con il cibo, con la tavola al momento dell'appoggio.Tale fatto comporta vantaggi dal punto di vista igienico in quanto si evita di dover mettere in bocca una posata che è entrata in contatto con la tavola, e consente altresì di ridurre al minimo le possibilità di sporcare la tovaglia o la superficie di appoggio della posata stessa.
