Claims

CLAIMS 1. Sofa bed comprising at least two complementary padded parts, respectively of seat and back, said parts being movable with respect to each other from a first bed position in which they are arranged coplanar to form a single bed surface with a second sofa position, characterized by the fact that said parts have complementary facing surfaces with a curvilinear contour which are mainly concave on said back part and mainly convex on said seat part, said back part being translatable between said first and second positions in order to arrange themselves substantially parallel to the seat part but raised therefrom in said second position so that the corresponding one of said facing surfaces constitutes backrest surface in the second sofa position.

2. Sofa according to claim 1 in which said parts comprise respective frames and said frames are connected together by an articulated parallelogram translation mechanism.

3. Sofa according to claim 1 or 2 in which said parts have such a conformation that in the first bed position said bed surface has a quadrangular shape and each of said parts comprises at least the prevailing part of two of the contiguous sides of said figure.

4. Sofa according to claim 2 wherein said translation mechanism comprises hydropneumatic springs for balancing the mass of the back part.

5. Sofa according to claim 4 comprising means for retaining said translation mechanism at least in said second sofa position.
