DESCRIPTION

The present patent relates to connection and power supply cables for electrical equipment and in particular concerns power supply cables for the multiple or branch connection of two or more electrical appliances.

It is conventional that the mechanical electrical connection element which has uncovered or otherwise exposed male electroconductive elements is called a plug and that the corresponding mechanical electrical connection element which has protected or in any case internal female electroconductive elements is called a socket.

The power cables of electrical appliances are fixed, i.e. physically attached to the inside of the appliance and not separable from the electrical appliance, or separated and connected to a specific plug of the electrical appliance.

The plugs and sockets, commonly called Italian, having equal, parallel and coplanar cylindrical contacts are called, according to the CEI 23-50 standard, type S10 and type P10 if without the central earth contact and type S11 and type P11 if equipped with the contact central ground. The initial letter S or P determines, respectively, whether it is a plug or a socket.

Currently the plug used in electrical appliances for connection to the wall socket is the UNEL type or type S30 or type S31 plug, that is circular with parallel cylindrical contacts aligned on a diameter, usually called German plugs.

Currently the plug used in electrical appliances for connecting a separable power cable is the IEC 60320 type C14 or type C16 plug, i.e. a plug formed by three parallel metal blades arranged at the vertices of a triangle housed in a seat having a major side comprised between two minor sides orthogonal to it and three other minor sides opposite to said major side, of which the intermediate side is parallel to said major side.

The corresponding sockets are defined as IEC 60320 type C13 and type C15.

The electric cable for connecting said electrical appliances to the wall socket has a corresponding flying socket suitable for fitting into the seat of said plug present in the electrical appliance.

To connect several electrical appliances to the same wall socket, multiple flying sockets are used consisting of a body, on which there are two or more electrical sockets of the same or different type, having an electrical cable ending with an electrical plug suitable for being plugged into the wall socket.

Adapters with single plug and multiple sockets are known, called multi-socket adapters, consisting of a body in insulating material, having on one side a plug suitable for being inserted into the wall socket, and having on other sides two or more sockets suitable for receiving the plugs of corresponding electrical appliances.

In many cases it is necessary to connect only two electrical appliances to the power socket, such as the computer and its monitor, or the television and the home theater system, or the electric coffee maker and the multiprocessor / food mixer.

If the wall socket is single, multi-socket adapters are used to connect the electrical plugs of both electrical appliances. In some cases, however, there is not enough space around the wall socket to place the multi-socket adapter and the sockets of both electrical appliances.

In other cases, between the wall socket and the position of the electrical appliances there is a free space, for example between the furniture / table and the wall, with the consequence of having two electrical cables lying in said free space and connected to the multi-socket adapter . This situation is certainly unsightly and potentially dangerous if said free space in which the electric cables are laid is a passage space, even occasional.

A practiced solution is to use a flying multiple socket whose flying plug is inserted into the wall socket and whose body having the flying multiple sockets is placed near the electrical appliances and receives the flying plugs of the various electrical appliances themselves. This solution is advantageous in the case of several electrical appliances but is expensive and cumbersome for only two electrical appliances. It is also necessary to consider the need to have the necessary space to position said multiple flying socket.

Y connection cables are known having at one end an IEC 60320 type C14 or type C16 flying plug connected with the detachable power cable, and at the other ends two IEC 60320 type C13 or type C15 sockets to be connected to the fixed IEC plugs 60320 type C14 or type C16 of the two electrical appliances.

A recurring case is the need to connect the desktop monitor and the laptop: while the monitor has a detachable power cable with plug and socket IEC 60320 type C13 / C14 or type C15 / C16, the laptop power supply has a fixed power cable or has a separable power cable with socket-plug type C5 / C6, of the proprietary type or in any case different from IEC 60320 type C13 / C14 or type C15 / C16.

Computer power supplies having simultaneously a fixed plug and socket type IEC 60320 type C13 and type C14 or type C15 and type C16 are known. The power cable connected to the wall socket is connected to the fixed plug of the power supply unit, while a cable having at the ends respectively a plug and an IEC 60320 type C13 and type C14 or type C15 and type C16 which supplies power to a second electrical appliance, typically the monitor. Often there is also a printer that must be connected to the wall socket with its power cable without being able to connect to the computer power supply, or vice versa the monitor has a fixed connection cable that is connected to the wall socket while the printer receives power from the fixed plug of the computer's power supply.

To overcome all the aforementioned drawbacks, a new power supply adapter has been designed and built with plug and socket of the same type passing through and secondary flying socket, having in particular plug and socket type IEC 60320 type C13 and type C14 or type C15 and type C16 and P30 type flying socket compatible with UNEL type, S30 or S31 type or S10 or S11 type plugs.

One purpose of the new adapter is to allow the connection to the power supply of two electrical appliances.

Another purpose of the new adapter is to allow the connection to the power supply of two electrical appliances, at least one equipped with a fixed plug type IEC 60320 type C14 or type C16 and the other equipped with a plug type UNEL, type S30 or type S31 or type S10 or type S11.

These and other direct and complementary purposes are achieved by the new adapter comprising a section of electric cable, having a flying socket at one end and a connection and branch body generally shaped like a T, Y or in any case at the opposite end. with three arms.

The electric cable can be constituted by any known electric cable with three individually insulated conductors and incorporated in an external protective sheath made of plastic material.

At one end of said electric cable there is a P30 type flying socket suitable for receiving and electrically connecting electrical plugs of the UNEL type, type S30, type S31, type S10, type S11.

At the opposite end of said electric cable there is a connection and branch body generally shaped in a T, Y shape or in any case with three arms.

One of said arms is adapted to block the end of said electric cable opposite to said flying socket.

A second of said arms has, axially at the end, a plug with a seat of the IEC 60320 type C14 or type C16 suitable to receive the corresponding socket of the electric power cable which is connected to the wall socket. The third of said arms has, axially at the end, a socket of the IEC 60320 type C13 or type C15 suitable to be inserted in a corresponding seat of the corresponding plug present in a first electrical appliance.

The reciprocal arrangement of said arms is such that neither the electric cable for connection to the flying socket, nor the socket of the electric cable that is connected to the electric wall socket, nor the plug of the electric appliance bear or are hindered by the other various parts .

The electrical connections between the plug, the socket and the electric cable with flying socket are made inside said connection and derivation body.

It is possible to foresee the absence of the electric cable and that said P30 socket is incorporated in one of the arms of the connection and junction body.

The characteristics of the new power supply adapter with pass-through plug and socket of the same type and secondary flying socket will be better clarified by the following description with reference to the drawing table, attached by way of non-limiting example.

Figures 1 and 2 illustrate two views of the new adapter comprising a section of electric cable (E) having at one end a flying socket (V) and at the opposite end a connection and derivation body (C).

The electric cable (E) comprises, in turn, three conductors individually insulated and incorporated in an external protective plastic sheath.

At one end of said electric cable (E) there is a circular plug (V) type P30 suitable for receiving and electrically connecting electric plugs of the UNEL type, type S30, type S31, type S10, type S11.

At the opposite end of said electric cable there is a body (C) for connection and derivation generically shaped like a T, Y or in any case with three arms (C1, C2, C3).

One of said arms (C1) is adapted to block the end of said electric cable (E) opposite to said flying socket (V).

A second of said arms (C2) has, axially at the end, a plug (S) with a seat of the IEC 60320 type C14 or type C16 type suitable for receiving the corresponding socket of the power supply cable which is connected to the wall socket .

The third of said arms (C3) has, axially at the end, a socket (P) of the IEC 60320 type C13 or type C15 suitable to be inserted in a corresponding seat of the corresponding plug present in a first electrical appliance.

The new adapter allows two electrical appliances to be electrically powered with a single electrical cable connected to the mute socket.

The new adapter makes it possible to power an electrical appliance equipped with a cable with an IEC 60320 socket and a second appliance with a fixed cable ending with a flying plug type UNEL, type S30 or type S31, type S10 or type S11.

The socket (P) of the new adapter is inserted into the fixed plug present in the first electrical appliance, the plug (S) of the new adapter receives the socket of the power cord connected to the wall socket, the flying socket (V) receives the plug of the power cord of the second electrical appliance.

Using the new adapter, there is only one power cable between the wall socket and the first electrical appliance with interposed connection body and branch (C) of the new adapter, and a cable that starts from said connection body and branch (C) having a socket (P) with the plug of the power cord of the second electrical appliance connected.

These are the schematic modalities sufficient for the skilled person to realize the invention, consequently, in concrete application there may be variations without prejudice to the substance of the innovative concept.

Therefore, with reference to the preceding description and to the attached table, the following claims are expressed.

CLAIMS 1. Power supply adapter for powering at least two electrical appliances, characterized in that it comprises a body (C) for connection and derivation, a plug (S) with seat of the IEC 60320 type C14 or type C16, a first socket (P) of the type IEC 60320 type C13 or type C15 and a second socket (V) type P30 for plugs type UNEL, type S30, type S31, type S10 or type S11, and where said plug (S) and said first socket (P) are fixed on said connection and derivation body (C), and where said plug (S) and said sockets (P, V) are electrically connected to each other internally to said connection and derivation body (C). 2. Power supply adapter, as per claim 1, characterized in that said second socket (V) is fixed on said connection and derivation body (C). 3. Power supply adapter, as per claim 1, characterized in that said second socket (V) is connected to said connection and derivation body (C) by means of an electric cable section (E), and where said cable section electrical connection (E) constitutes both the physical connection with the body (C) and the electrical connection with said plug (S) and first socket (P). 4. Power supply adapter, as per claim 1, characterized by the fact that said connection and branch body (C) is generally T-shaped, Y-shaped or in any case with three arms (C1, C2, C3), and where one of said arms (C1) supports the second socket (V) or blocks the electrical connection cable (E) with said second socket (V), a second arm (C2) supports said plug (S) and a third arm (C3) supports said first socket (P). 5. Power supply adapter, as per the preceding claims, characterized in that said plug (S) with seat of the IEC 60320 type C14 or type C16 type is adapted to receive the corresponding socket of the power supply cable which is connected to the electrical socket on the wall. 6. Power supply adapter, as per the preceding claims, characterized in that said third arm (C3) and said first socket (P) of the type IEC 60320 type C13 or type C15 are able to be inserted in a corresponding seat of the corresponding plug present in a first electrical appliance.
