The present invention relates to a particular profiling of pipes to be used in a boiler exchanger for domestic use, intended for the production of hot water for heating and for the supply of sanitary ware.
More particularly, the invention proposes a heat exchanger especially suitable for use on boilers for heating and with the production of sanitary water, in which the coil for the passage of water has a drop section and, more particularly , a section with a semi-circular lower part and a cusp-shaped upper part or the like.
This solution allows to reach an optimal balance between the quantity of heat that can be transferred through the surface of the pipe that constitutes the coil and the volume of the water that is circulated in it and therefore a better dynamics of the thermal and water flows.
Generally, the heat exchangers used in boilers for domestic use, in particular in wall-mounted boilers, include a coil fixed to a plurality of fins for better heat exchange.
The dimensions of the boilers, in particular of the wall-hung boilers, are almost standardized and the space for placing the heat exchanger is rather limited (today the trend is towards an increasingly dramatic reduction in size).
For this it is necessary to find an arrangement that allows to obtain a sufficient development of the coil, while maintaining a large enough water passage section, such as to allow a good circulation of the water even with a pump with low head, while not compromising the hydrodynamics of the flow.
The pipes that make up the coil are generally with a round or oval section.
The round shape limits, with the same space, the quantity of pipes and therefore the possibility of achieving a balanced thermal distribution.
However, round pipes have the advantage of requiring a pump with a low head to circulate the water; however, since the ratio between the perimeter and the surface of the section is minimal, the quantity of heat transferred to the fluid is also minimal and therefore, for the usual diameters, the noise risks generally due to resonance phenomena increase.
In order to increase the quantity of heat that can be transferred in time units and to improve the flow dynamics, it was then resorted to the use of elliptical or oval section tubes.
With this configuration the ratio between perimeter and section increases and thus increases by the amount of heat transferred.
Furthermore, this configuration allows to place, in an exchanger of the same overall size, a greater number of pipes, generally six or seven pipes.
The drawback of this solution is the greater weight of the exchanger and, above all, the higher cost compared to those with cylindrical coil.
This is then complicated in the bi-thermal exchangers, where the coil is formed by two coaxial pipes: the external pipe is used for the primary water, which goes to the heating appliances, while the domestic water passes through the internal pipe.
In the case of bi-thermal exchangers, in fact, significant problems are encountered because, due to the reduced section of the pipes, pumps with a considerable head are required to circulate the water at the necessary speed. In the case of exchangers with oval tubes, even greater problems are encountered.
To solve the economic problems of oval pipes it is necessary to reduce their number, but this involves an excessive increase in pressure drops or an excessive decrease in them, depending on whether the hydraulic circuit is in series or in parallel. However, both solutions lead to incorrect fluid dynamics inside the pipes. Therefore, the problem arises of creating a heat exchanger whose characteristics allow to reach a good balance between the quantity of heat transferred through the surface and its distribution on the exchanging parts, the flow rate of treated water and the prevalence necessary to obtain this flow of water in the unit of time.
The invention solves this problem by providing an exchanger with tubes having a substantially drop-shaped section and preferably a section in which the lower part of the tube has a semicircular or arc-shaped or even an elliptical shape, while the upper part has a cusp shape or in any case a shape that limits the surface of the section in the upper part of the pipe.
The invention will now be described in. detail with reference to the attached figures, in which:
• la figura 1 mostra, in sezione, un tubo utilizzato per realizzare uno scambiatore di calore secondo l'invenzione; Figure 1 shows, in section, a tube used to make a heat exchanger according to the invention;
· figura 2 illustra, in sezione, una possibile configurazione di un tubo di acqua sanitaria da utilizzare in uno scambiatore bi-termico secondo l'invenzione; Figure 2 shows, in section, a possible configuration of a sanitary water pipe to be used in a bi-thermal exchanger according to the invention;
• figura 3 illustra, in sezione, il tubo di una serpentina in uno scambiatore bi-termico secondo l'invenzione; Figure 3 shows, in section, the tube of a coil in a bi-thermal exchanger according to the invention;
Figure 4 shows, in section, a heat exchanger according to the invention, in which the shape of the exchanger fins is highlighted. The concept underlying the invention consists in making the coil using a tube having a section for which the ratio between the length of the perimeter and the area of said section is as adequate as possible and allows to obtain an optimal pressure drop, necessary for the distribution of thermal and pressure gradients in the exchanger, compatibly with the ease of water circulation, in particular greater than that which occurs in the circular section.
The problem is solved, according to the invention, by providing to use, to make the coil, a tube whose section has the configuration shown in Figure 1.
Here the tube, indicated as a whole with 1, has a substantially drop-shaped section, with the lower part 2 having a substantially semicircular shape, or an arc of a circle or even an elliptical section, while the upper part 3 has a cusp or cusp section. however a section that has two concave sides.
In this way, the section area is reduced compared to the case of a circular section pipe having the same perimeter, while maintaining a shape favorable to the circulation of water and allowing to obtain, where needed, the advantages of both round and oval configurations. ..
In the case of a bi-heat exchanger, inside this section there is a second tube 4, which can have the shape shown in figure 2, but also any other shape that leaves a gap with a section sufficient to allow easy circulation of the primary water even with a low head pump.
Observing the configuration of figure 3 it can be seen that there are, in the interspace between the two pipes, two sections 5 and 5 'not too squashed through which the primary water passes and a composite section, that of pipe 4, through which the 'sanitary water.
The fact that the two sections through which the primary water passes are not too squashed allows to contain friction losses. In the case of the section of the internal pipe, in which the sanitary water passes, the indicated section, although presenting a rather flattened part, nevertheless has another rather rounded part.
Basically two flows will be formed in the section: the main water flow will tend to concentrate precisely on this rounded part of the section, while in the other part there will be a slower secondary flow.
Since the two flows are in contact at the bottleneck, turbulence will be created due to the different speeds, all to the advantage of the efficiency of the heat exchange.
The ratio between the sections of the tubes 4 and 1 may vary according to the different applications, even if it has been found that the best results are obtained for ratios between 1: 2.5 and 1: 4.
The tubes of this shape can be obtained by deforming, for example by rolling, profiling or other known system, a cylindrical tube, or they can be made directly with the necessary section.
2. As a consequence of the shape of the section of the tube 1, the fins 6 of the exchanger will have the configuration shown in fig. 2.
Here, on the surface of said fins 6 there are protuberances 7 or notches 8, obtained by deformation of the metal which constitutes the fins, and which create a certain turbulence, suitable to favor the heat exchange.
The configuration of the pipes in the exchanger according to the invention, through the improvement of the heat exchange, allows to reduce the dimensions of the exchanger, with the same power exchanged and efficiency, and allows easy circulation of the primary water even with a pump with low prevalence.
A person skilled in the art can then foresee various modifications and variations, which must however be considered all included within the scope of the present invention
