annessa a domanda dì brevetto per INVENZIONE INDUSTRIALE avente per titolo: “PROCEDIMENTO PER LA REALIZZAZIONE DI GUSCI RIGIDI IN PLASTICA, PARTICOLARMENTE PER attached to a patent application for INDUSTRIAL INVENTION entitled: "PROCEDURE FOR THE REALIZATION OF RIGID PLASTIC SHELLS, PARTICULARLY FOR
CONTENITORI PORTA OGGETTI" CONTAINERS FOR OBJECTS "
DESCRIZIONE DESCRIPTION
The present invention relates to a process for manufacturing rigid plastic shells, particularly for containers for carrying objects. As is known, some types of storage containers can be formed by a main part consisting of a rigid shell in plastic material and by flexible parts in fabric, leather or similar materials assembled to the rigid shell by sewing, heat sealing, gluing, riveting or with other joining technique and suitable to constitute the closure, the handle or any other component of the container.
(Vedere Fig. 2). Purely by way of indication, containers of this type can assume the shape and dimensions suitable for use, for example, as satchels, school and leisure backpacks, pen sachets, various cases, kindergarten baskets, pouches, mobile phone holders, travel bags and suitcases, document and wallets holders, key rings, handbags, make-up trousses, beauty cases, etc. (See Fig. 2).
The most widespread known technique for the production of rigid shells to be used in the containers for carrying objects listed above provides for an injection molding process, preparing for each type of shell a mold formed at least by an external valve and an internal valve or core which reproduces in negative the shape of the shell cavity. The chosen plastic material in the molten state is injected into the gap between the external valve and the core and is subsequently extracted, when it has taken on consistency, after undergoing the required heating and cooling processes.
The aforementioned known type injection molding is considerably demanding from an economic point of view, especially due to the high cost of traditional molds normally used from which numerous drawbacks arise.
In fact, first of all, the high cost of each mold negatively affects the cost of the finished container, especially if the latter is produced in a limited number of pieces. In order to be able to amortize the cost of the mold conveniently, it is therefore necessary to produce large runs of the same article, or to limit the range of articles of a certain collection. Furthermore, the high cost of the molds used in injection molding makes it economically impracticable to modify them after having produced the first articles and therefore it is not possible to optimize the production and characteristics of the finished articles, in particular their rigidity and specific construction details.
In this situation, the technical task underlying the present invention is to devise a process for manufacturing rigid plastic shells capable of substantially obviating the aforementioned drawbacks.
Within the scope of said technical task, the important object of the invention is to devise a process that allows to produce rigid plastic shells particularly for containers for objects at very low production costs and much lower than those of the known art, for example based on injection molding of the traditional type, so as to be able to make available finished products whose cost is also considerably lower than the products obtained with known processes.
The specified technical task and the specified aim are substantially achieved by a process for making rigid plastic shells which is characterized in that it comprises one or more of the technical solutions claimed hereinafter.
By way of indicative and non-limiting example, the description of a preferred, but not exclusive, embodiment of a process according to the invention is now shown, only partially illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:

- la Fig. 3 rappresenta una vista frontale di un guscio rigido impiegabile per un determinato contenitore a forma di zaino; - Fig. 3 represents a front view of a rigid shell that can be used for a determined backpack-shaped container;
- Fig. -4 represents the section of a rigid shell obtained by means of the present invention according to section IV-IV of Fig. 3.
With reference to the figures, the method according to the invention consists first of all in providing a mold (1) in the shape of a closed container having an internal surface (2) which is counter-shaped, at least partially, to the external surface of a rigid shell (3) which is intends to produce, for example, a shape suitable for use as a backpack, as illustrated in Fig. 3, or for any other container.
The mold (1) has an opening (2a), which can be hermetically closed by means of a cap (4), through which the procedure provides that a predetermined quantity of a synthetic resin in the fluid state is introduced.
Preferably the synthetic resin used is constituted by PVC emulsion plasticized with phthalic or adipic plasticizers, or phosphates, or citrates depending on the characteristics that the finished article must have, stabilized with a non-toxic stabilizer of zinc and magnesium and variously colored with pigments pure.
The mold (1), after being fixed to a plate that can contain one or more molds depending on their size, is inserted into a cooking oven maintained at a predetermined temperature of about 200-210 ° C.
Rotation molding is carried out inside the oven, i.e. the mold is subjected to rotations in every direction by means of a special device so as to allow the synthetic resin to partially polymerize on the internal surface of the walls of the same mold, forming a layer that assumes it the conformation.
In this regard, it should be noted that the quantity of liquid material introduced into the molds is the optimal one for the purpose of obtaining the desired wall thickness.
The material moved by the rotational molding device adheres at every point to the internal wall of the mold and thanks to the action of heat (in combination with the movements and the time factor) polymerizes at least partially giving rise to the shape of the product to be made which it is internally hollow without the need to use any core.
The residence time of the mold in the baking oven varies according to the size of the shell to be obtained, the type of synthetic resin used and the degree of rigidity to be achieved.
After this time, the mold is removed from the oven and cooled by immersion in a tank for a duration of between 15 and 20 seconds.
Once the cap (4) has been removed, the partially solidified and still very soft synthetic resin is extracted for example manually from the mold (1) and placed on a support or template, where it cools, completes solidification and assumes the expected rigid form.
When solidification is fully completed, the resin body is subjected to finishing operations and the elimination of unsuitable parts in order to perfectly match the desired shell.
The latter is subsequently assembled by sewing, gluing, riveting or heat sealing with other previously prepared parts such as, for example, rubber labels, pockets, or other components in fabric, leather or similar materials that allow to obtain a finished article. ready for use.
Advantageously, the cap (4) which closes the opening (2a) of the mold (1) has an internal face (4a) available in a substantially coplanar position with an adjacent portion (2b) of the internal surface (2) or, at most, protruding slightly towards the cavity of the same mold.
Furthermore, this cap is made of non-stick material, for example an anticorodal aluminum alloy, so that the layer formed by the partially polymerized synthetic resin cannot develop in correspondence with it. In practice, the resin layer that adheres to the internal surface (2) of the mold (1) has a through hole arranged in the area occupied by the internal face (4a) of the cap (4) which facilitates its manual extraction from the same mold after said cooling in the tank.
The mold (1) used in the procedure described above for the production of a rigid shell is preferably prepared by means of a succession of operating steps that start from the preparation of a model of the shell by hand-crafted and manual shaping of resin or plaster or other material. Suitable on the basis of a detailed technical drawing of the desired final product.
From this model, a silicone mold is then obtained into which melted wax is poured in order to obtain, once solidification has taken place, a matrix which has the shape of the article to be made.
In particular, as can be seen by observing Fig. 2, thanks to the process according to the present invention it is possible to produce rigid shells (3) for a wide variety of clothing accessories, for example pouch (5), cigarette case (6), purse (7), pencil case (8), glasses holder (9), school and leisure backpacks (10), (11), "baguette" bag (12), mobile phone holder ( 13).
Finally, on the wax matrix, by means of the known technique of galvanic electrodeposition, a layer of a metal alloy is formed, for example of a copper-nickel alloy, which defines the desired mold.
The opening provided in the latter can be achieved by means of a brass ring in which the non-stick closure cap can be screwed.
L’invenzione consegue importanti vantaggi. The invention achieves important advantages.
In fact, the process for making a rigid plastic shell according to the invention based on rotational molding in the oven allows the use of molds whose cost is much lower, being about one thirteenth, compared to that of the molds required by other processes. known, for example from injection molding.
The reduction of the cost of the molds reduces the depreciation rate of the same which affects the cost of each finished product and therefore allows to start, without excessive economic burdens, the production of even limited quantities of a specific rigid shell model.
It should be noted that the possibility of producing, in addition to the first, other equal molds at limited costs allows to optimize the production and therefore also the costs of the finished products since it is possible, for example, to carry out, for example, simultaneous rotary molding in the furnace of different articles.
Finally, it should be emphasized that the low cost of the molds also produces other benefits: for example, the production of samples on which to perform tests that verify certain structural and / or aesthetic characteristics and samples to be used for a possible sales network is economically advantageous.
