TITOLO: COMPOSIZIONE PER LA RIMOZIONE DI SOSTANZE O PREPARATI COLORANTI TITLE: COMPOSITION FOR THE REMOVAL OF SUBSTANCES OR COLORING PREPARATIONS
DESCRIZIONE DESCRIPTION
The present invention relates to a composition in the form of a gel or emulsion and its use in the removal of coloring substances.
Although in some cases they can be considered as a form of art, the presence of graffiti, that is unwanted writings or drawings traced with paint or other coloring substances, on artifacts, buildings and means of urban and extra-urban transport it can cause very serious damage to the structures from an aesthetic point of view and for the loss of functionality of the supports on which these graffiti are applied. In many cases, in order to recover the complete operability and safety of the vehicles that have undergone the application of graffiti due to vandalism, it is necessary to completely remove the patina of the applied coloring substance. Graffiti removal is generally an expensive, demanding and time-consuming operation. In many cases, in particular for trains and vehicles for urban transport, the dimensions of the means of transport require manual intervention, with a further increase in costs, possible exposure of operators to products harmful to health and forced and prolonged stop of means of transport to be treated. To limit or avoid these disadvantages, it would understandably be advantageous to have automated methods for removing graffiti from large surfaces. However, the known art does not provide products and methods that allow graffiti to be removed from large surfaces efficiently with automated or semi-automated methods and with limited time and costs.
A further problem not solved by the known compositions and methods is linked to the fact that graffiti are often made up of paints and colored substances of different chemical nature and with various physical characteristics such as consistency, penetration of the underlying states, adhesiveness etc. Furthermore, the means of transport have external surfaces of various kinds such as sheet metal, glass, plastic, rubber, etc. from which it is very difficult to remove all the graffiti with a single treatment. The complete cleaning of the surfaces according to the known methods may therefore require a sequence of various interventions, with different substances and with methods that also take into account the nature of the material to be cleaned, with a consequent increase in costs and lengthening of the times of operations. Furthermore, particularly aggressive treatments can cause significant damage to the underlying surface, up to corrosion or the removal of the paint and protective layers originally applied to the structure, with evident deterioration of the aesthetic qualities and operational life of the means of transport.
An object of the present invention is to provide a composition capable of totally or mostly removing graffiti from a surface, in particular from a means of transport, also by means of an automated or semi-automated procedure.
An aim of the present invention is to provide a composition which is capable of removing graffiti composed of substances of various kinds from a surface with a single application or with the least possible number of passes.
Another aim of the present invention is to provide a product capable of completely or mostly removing graffiti from surfaces of different nature such as glass, sheet metal, rubber and plastic without damaging the surface material and with a limited number of applications or with just one treatment.
Another aim of the present invention is to provide an efficient and low cost method for removing graffiti from means of transport and large surfaces in general.

It has been surprisingly found that the composition of the invention possesses the characteristics of viscosity and consistency that allow a convenient application in an automated way combined with a permanence on surfaces, even vertical ones, which allows the efficient removal of graffiti in a short time. As a non-limiting example, graffiti can be removed from a means of transport, such as a train, by applying the composition of the invention at low pressure (6-8 atmospheres) in an automated or semi-automated system and removing with high-pressure water jets pressure (60/120 atmospheres) after a residence time of about 5 minutes.
It has been found that the composition according to the invention has a thixotropic behavior, that is, it exhibits high viscosity in the absence of mechanical stresses but, when subjected to shear pressure, it assumes an almost liquid consistency. Advantageously, thanks to this characteristic, the composition of the invention can be easily dispensed in liquid form, for example by spray, and adheres to the surface to be treated even at temperatures above 30 ° C for a time sufficient to remove unwanted substances. On the other hand, it has been found that other compositions, for example those comprising cellulose derivatives, once applied tend to lose cohesion and adhesion, with a final effect of shorter residence time and insufficient removal of graffiti from the surface.
The composition of the invention can be applied as a thin and homogeneous layer which adheres effectively to the surfaces to be treated.
The use in the form of a thin layer allows to maximize the exposure between the substances to be removed and the solvent substances of the composition, since practically all the components of the applied composition are in close proximity to the surface to be treated. Advantageously, this results in a better removal of graffiti in a short time and using low quantities of the composition of the invention, with evident economic and environmental advantages.
It has been found that the composition of the invention, in addition to having a high ability to remove paints of various kinds, has the necessary viscosity for dispensing through automated systems, without clogging the distribution systems, and adheres effectively to the surface to be treated.
Furthermore, it has been found that, thanks to its chemical and physical characteristics, the composition according to the invention is able to adhere and remove unwanted paints effectively and simultaneously from surfaces different in nature, porosity and consistency, such as sheet metal. , glass, plastic and rubber, without damaging the surface itself.
Furthermore, it has surprisingly been found that the composition according to the invention allows to remove completely, or almost entirely, graffiti composed of substances of various types (e.g. overlapping or adjacent layers of water-based, acrylic, epoxy paints, etc.) by applying a single product and with a single treatment or with a limited number of cleaning cycles. This aspect is a considerable advantage, because it allows you not to have to change the cleaning product for each intervention depending on the paint used for the graffiti and the nature of the surfaces to be treated. This has a clear advantage in terms of the time required for the treatment and ease of operation. In fact, by using the composition according to the invention, the need to examine, before starting the treatment, the type of paint to be removed is eliminated, thus avoiding a preliminary intervention by an operator and accelerating the cleaning process.
