Attualmente i normali vassoi in uso prevalentemente nelle industrie di mattonelle in graniglia e agglomerati marmo cemento sono normalmente sovrapponibili ma non sono stagni, anzi concedono il massimo di aria e luce poiché spesso subiscono la procedura di cottura a vapore.
