Descrizione Description
Acoustic guitar with variable angle neck assembled by means of a single metric screw.
The present patent application for industrial invention relates to an acoustic guitar having the possibility of varying the angle of the neck (1) with respect to the soundboard of the body (2) (in which the strings are fixed through the bridge). All this is used to bring the strings closer or further away from the metal frets inserted on the fretboard (16), to make playing the instrument easier. The very important thing, which makes our system applied to the guitar different from all the other existing ones, is that this variation can be made directly "on stage", that is while playing, without intervening on the constraints that block the neck to the case (screws to wood, gluing etc.)
Per rendere ben comprensibili i vantaggi, alleghiamo disegni tecnici costruttivi dettagliati: To make the advantages clear, we enclose detailed technical construction drawings:
-Drawing 1- Represents two section views; one with handle (1) fixed to the case (2). The second with the handle outside the case, during the assembly phase, to highlight all the metal details. In the third view above you can see the back of the guitar.
-Drawing 2 - This drawing shows the enlarged sections of the attachment of the two components (handle and case) and all the accessories involved. In our case, the assembly system of the neck (1) to the body (2) used is called “bolt on”. In the specific case of the invention, fixing takes place with a single metric screw. Only in this way is it possible to vary the angle of the handle (1) with respect to the case.
Now, for a better explanation we use the drawing n ° l. In fig.A we note the handle (1) outside the seat obtained in the case (2), during the insertion phase. A threaded metal rod (3) is breaded in a pin (7) threaded in the center, with a diameter of 9mm. The pin (7) passes through the end part of the handle (15) which fits into the seat (14) of the case (2). What has been explained can be better seen in drawing No. 2 section AA, where the pin (7) is inserted in the end part of the handle through a hole (13) radial to the axis of the handle. The threaded rod (3) is breaded in the central hole of the pin (7). Assembly takes place by inserting the end of the handle (15) in the seat (14) of the case (2). The threaded rod (3), now being an integral part of the handle, is inserted into the hole (17) obtained in the wooden block (18) glued to the case (2). Once the end part (15) of the handle (1) is inserted into the seat (14) until it touches the bottom, a chromed metal bush (4) is screwed to the rod (3) after having inserted it in the hole (17) . By turning the bush (4) clockwise using a normal 5 mm Allen key, drag the handle into the bottom of the hole (14), continuing to rotate the bush (4) exerts a force that is transmitted to the handle (1 ), in its terminal part (15) by means of the pin (7), causing a fastening of great intensity. The force applied to fasten the handle (1) to the case (2) is calculated to be approximately 400 kg, approximately 9.5 kg for each sq. Cm. The shaft (3) - bush (4) - pin (7) complex works metal on metal, therefore the fixing is clearly superior to the four wood screws, normally used in guitars that use the “bolt on” system.
All this, in addition to giving maximum mechanical seal safety, contributes to the improvement of the “sustain” (transmission of vibrations in the whole extension of the neck).
As we have previously argued, the angular modification of the handle (1) with respect to the case (2), without intervening in the locking, can be carried out only by having a single constraint. This is the essential feature of our system, which distinguishes it from all the others on the market, because it is more performing! Now, to better explain the part of the trim adjustment, which in musical jargon is called "set-up", let's examine drawing N ° 1 fig A. We notice a second hole (19), which begins in the lower part of the seat (14 ) and comes out in the external part of the bottom of the case (2). A bush (6) is forcibly inserted into it which has a thread for wood in the outer diameter and an 8M metric thread inside. The bush fits with interference in the hole made in the wooden block (18), forming a single piece. In fig A of drawing N ° 1 is shown the screw (5) with which we can carry out the maneuver of angular variation of the handle (1). It is inserted into the hole (19) until it reaches the internal thread of the bush (6). In the drawing N ° 2 section. BB we note the components of the maneuver; the adjustment screw (5), the threaded legnometric bush (6) and a third component, which we will call the contrast washer (8). An Allen key (10) is required for the maneuver. Turning the screw (5) clockwise advances until it intercepts the contrast washer (8). Continuing in the rotation we detach the extreme terminal part of the handle (15), from the bottom of the seat (14). This causes the strings to move closer to the fretboard without having to loosen the fixing screw. The opposite operation, turning the key counterclockwise, causes the strings to move away from the fretboard.
. . costosi. The maneuver described above is only possible with the invention described in detail above. The guitarist can intervene directly “on stage” (while playing on stage) according to musical needs (violent sounds like for rock, high strings - soft sounds, like for Jazz, low strings). In normal instruments on the market, even of great value, similar results can be achieved with the intervention of expert luthiers and. . . expensive.
In drawing 1 fig C, in correspondence with the hole for inserting the adjustment key, an adhesive is applied with engraved references, useful for adjusting the “set-up”.
