Abstract

A method for managing an industrial automation system comprising a microprocessor operating by means of an operating system which controls a part of the microprocessor memory is described; said method envisages generating periodically a non-maskable interrupt (NMI) signal which switches the operating mode of the microprocessor from real mode to protected mode and cyclically effecting return to the real mode; during operation in protected mode the programs controlling the automation process are executed, said programs being located in a memory zone which is not controlled by the operating system.
