Description

METODO E APPARECCHIATURA PER LA ESSICCAZIONE DI VERNICI METHOD AND EQUIPMENT FOR DRYING PAINTS

APPLICATE SU MANUFATTI A PREVALENTE ESTENSIONE PIANA APPLIED ON PRODUCTS WITH A MAJOR FLAT EXTENSION

The present invention relates to the technical field of equipment for drying paints applied to products with a prevalently flat extension by using ultraviolet rays. In particular, the invention concerns a suitably shaped reflector which allows to concentrate the UV radiation emitted by a lamp in order to accelerate the drying of the paint affixed to the product.

In the known art, the tubular lamp emits UV radiation which is reflected by means of a parabolic or elliptical reflector suitably shaped on the surface of the panel or on the horizontal surface and the vertical edges of the panel to be dried. In the case of the parabola, the lamp is positioned in the focus. In the case of the ellipse, the lamp is positioned in one of the two foci of the ellipse, and the ellipse is interrupted on the side facing the artifact to be dried. In the known art reflectors of both forms are already used to obtain diffused or concentrated irradiation on the artifact. In the case of the drying of paint applied both to the horizontal plane and to the vertical edge of the products, it is typically necessary to use two reflectors suitably inclined towards the head and tail of the product to be able to dry the vertical edges. One of the advantages of the present invention consists in the possibility of using a single reflector which in any case allows to adequately dry even the edges perpendicular and parallel to the direction of advancement of the product, which allows the construction of simplified and less expensive drying ovens. . In fact, the oven with UV lamp constitutes a very significant cost component; moreover, the use of a single lamp allows to save energy and to heat the product subjected to drying less.

The present invention will be described below in one of its embodiments with the help of the following figures, which show:

Figura 1 vista laterale di un forno a raggi UV dell’arte nota, facente uso di due moduli ciascuno contenente lampada e riflettore; Figure 1 side view of a UV ray oven of the prior art, making use of two modules each containing lamp and reflector;

Figura 2 una vista laterale della presente apparecchiatura nel suo insieme; Figure 2 a side view of the present apparatus as a whole;

Figure 3 a detail of the rays reflected by the reflector; Figure 4 is a front view of the present apparatus as a whole.

In Figure 1, 1 indicates as a whole an apparatus for drying the paint applied to the artefacts of the known art, represented in a side view. 2a and 2b indicate two tubular UV lamps, shown here in lateral section; 3a and 3b the elliptical reflector surrounding the lamp; 4 the painted product, which advances in the direction indicated by the arrow. 5 indicates the conveyor, 6 the bars that support and transport the products, 7 the pinions that advance the bars 6 by means of chains (not shown). In this type of prior art machines it is necessary to use two lamps 2a, 2b inside two reflectors 3a, 3b having an appropriate inclination with respect to the product 4. For greater clarity, only the UV rays are represented in the reflector 3a 9 emitted by the lamp and not reflected, while in the reflector 3b only the reflected UV rays 8 are represented and concentrated on the product 4. It is evident that in reality each lamp 2a, 2b emits both non-reflected rays 9 and reflected rays 8. It is equally evident that with this configuration an important portion of the non-reflected rays 9 does not participate in the drying of the paint. This amount of non-reflected rays 9 which would be dispersed is usually recovered with the aid of additional reflectors, which increases the complexity and costs of the equipment.

Figure 2 shows a side view of an apparatus 11 according to the present invention, which makes use of a single UV lamp 12 and a single reflector 13. The lamp 12 is located in the first focus of the elliptical reflector 13. The reflector 13 is perpendicular to the artifact 14 to be dried, that is, oriented so that the major axis of the ellipse that crosses both foci forms an angle of 90 ° with respect to the major axis of the artifact 14 to the artifact to dry. The reflected rays 18 are concentrated on the horizontal surface of the article, while the non-reflected rays 19 in any case strike directly the upper surface of the article 14, which advances in the direction of the arrow. The transport system 15, 16, 17 is completely similar to that of Figure 1.

Figure 3 shows a detail of the path of UV rays, which highlights how the reflected UV rays 18 can surprisingly also strike the vertical edges 22 at the head and tail of the product 14 as it advances, ensuring satisfactory drying. For greater clarity, only the reflected rays 18 relative to the middle of the reflector have been drawn.

From the same figure 3 it is also possible to appreciate how the second focus 21 of the elliptical reflector must be located just below the edges of the reflector itself.

Figure 4 shows the apparatus of the present invention in a front view, perpendicular to the direction of advancement of the product 14. There are mirrors 23 perpendicular to the axis of the lamp 12 which allow to reflect the part of the rays, which it would hit the wall, on the lateral edge 20. In this figure it is possible to appreciate how the reflected rays 18 and the non-reflected rays 19 manage to hit the lateral vertical edges 20 of the product 14, parallel to the direction of advancement.

To make the most of the UV radiation emitted by the lamp 12, it is clear that fixed mathematical relationships must be respected between the position of the lamp 12 coinciding with the first focus of the ellipse, the position of the second focus 21 and the height of the edges 20 of the product. The focus position 21 is fixed and is a function of the shape of the elliptical reflector 13.

The lamp 12 is in a fixed position inside the reflector 13, the two form an integral block: the movement of the reflector 13 also involves the movement of the lamp 12 with respect to the product to be dried 14.

The height of the edge 20 of the artifact 14 can vary from a few millimeters to a few centimeters, and consequently the position of the focus 21 with respect to the transport 15 must be varied, suitably positioning the assembly of the lamp 12 and the reflector 13. The movement of the whole of the lamp 12 and of the reflector 13 can be performed with methods known in the art, such as motor or jack. It is the operatorâ € ™ s task, at the beginning of the processing, to adjust the equipment according to the height of the piece.
