“PROCEDIMENTO E DISPOSITIVO PER IL CONTROLLO DELL’ALIMENTAZIONE E DEL DOSAGGIO DI PRODOTTI GRANULARI IN UN IMPIANTO DI CONFEZIONAMENTO†⠀ œPROCESSION AND DEVICE FOR THE CONTROL OF THE FEEDING AND DOSAGE OF GRANULAR PRODUCTS IN A PACKAGING PLANTâ €
DESCRIZIONE DELL'INVENZIONE DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The present invention is part of the technical sector relating to systems for packaging granular or powder products in bags containing predefined quantities of the same products.
In particular, the invention relates to a process, and a corresponding device, for controlling the feeding and dosing of granular products coming from several feeding lines, and usually consisting of products of different types, to a bagging machine of such packaging plant.
It is known that different types of industrial products supplied in granular form, starting from bulk product stored in silos or otherwise available, are packaged in bags having a substantially standardized shape and size, usually between 10 and 50 kg.
Packaging takes place in special automatic bagging machines, equipped with hoppers to continuously receive the product coming from the silos through various types of conveyors, for example tubes, and to supply the already closed bag at the exit. The transport of the product from the silos to the bagging machine can be carried out by gravity, if the silos are arranged at a greater height than the bagging machine itself, or with known pneumatic or mechanical conveyor means.
The bagging machines are equipped with a section for picking up or forming the bags starting from a pre-formed bag or from a spooled belt of tubular material with suitable characteristics. Depending on the type of machine, the pre-formed bag is taken from a warehouse or formed by a tubular belt in a special section of the machine.
In the latter case, inside the aforementioned section the tape is unwound, cut to size and welded transversely with a sealing bar, to define the bottom of the bag. The mouth of the bag is instead hooked by pliers and presented at the exit of the loading hopper, from which the product to be packaged comes out. The flow of the outgoing product is controlled by means of a special valve positioned in correspondence with the mouthpiece, ie the lower portion of the hopper. This valve is activated by the machine control computer, following information received from a weighing device for the product introduced into the bag, provided in the lower part of the hopper.
Once the filling operation has been completed, that is to say when the bag reaches the predetermined weight, the mouth of the bag is closed by means of a transversal seal carried out by an additional sealing bar. The achievement of the preset weight is verified with a scale integrated in the hopper.
The bag is then brought out to the stuffing machine, squared and picked up by a palletizing machine, which arranges it on a pallet in a stack having predetermined dimensions.
The operating sequence of bagging and palletizing described above does not involve significant problems as long as the packaging line always and only operates with a single product. In the production reality, however, the plants are designed to package different products in succession. Typically a plant includes a number of silos, each containing a different granular product. At the bottom of each silo there is a conduit, equipped with a valve for closing the outlet, through which the product is conveyed to the loading hopper of the stuffing machine.
The normal production procedure foresees that, following an order for a batch of product consisting of a certain number of bags (usually one or more pallets containing a predefined number of bags), the silo valve relating to that product is opened, for a period of time sufficient to fill the loading hopper. The capacity of this hopper is usually equal to a few bags of product.
During the bagging operations, the valve can be kept always open, or it can be opened and closed intermittently, with the aid of level sensors provided in the hopper, in such a way as to keep enough product in the hopper to operate in I continue the stuffing machine.
When the predetermined number of bags foreseen in the batch has been filled and palletized, another batch is packaged, which often concerns a product other than the first. In this case, a certain quantity of the first product inevitably remains in the loading hopper. The quantity of residual product depends on the degree of approximation with which it is possible to evaluate the moment of the last closure of the silo outlet valve, and can also correspond to a significant fraction of the capacity of the hopper.
The residue of the first product constitutes a serious inconvenience in the management of the production line. It is in fact necessary to avoid contamination of the next production batch with the product of the previous batch.
The uncertainty in defining the quantity of the first product left in the loading hopper makes it necessary to stop production to manually empty the hopper, or to continue packaging until the hopper is completely empty and to obtain a quantity of bags sufficient to complete a pallet as well as an incomplete bag. Alternatively, it is possible to proceed with the packaging of the second batch, and discard the first bags of the new production.
In any case, there is a considerable waste of time and a significant waste of product and material used to make the bags.
One purpose of the present invention is to propose a process for controlling the feeding and dosing of different granular products to a bagging machine that allows to minimize, or even eliminate, the product residue in the loading hopper. at the conclusion of the packaging operations of a predetermined number of bags.
A further object of the invention is to propose a feeding and dosage control device which implements the above described procedure.
The objects mentioned above are entirely achieved according to the present invention, in accordance with the content of the claims.
The characteristics of the invention, as will appear from the claims, are highlighted in the following detailed description, with reference to the attached drawing tables, in which:
- la figura 1 illustra una vista schematica laterale di un impianto di confezionamento di prodotti granulari in relativi sacchi, che incorpora un dispositivo di controllo dell’alimentazione e del dosaggio realizzato secondo l’invenzione; - figure 1 illustrates a side schematic view of a plant for packaging granular products in relative bags, which incorporates a device for controlling the feeding and dosing made according to the invention;
- le figure da 2 a 5 illustrano schematicamente una porzione significativa dell’impianto di figura 1, in altrettante fasi successive della sequenza operativa di alimentazione secondo il procedimento della presente invenzione; Figures 2 to 5 schematically illustrate a significant portion of the plant of Figure 1, in as many successive phases of the operating sequence of feeding according to the process of the present invention;
Figure 6 illustrates an overall view of the packaging plant comprising a second embodiment of the control device according to the invention.
A preferred but not exclusive embodiment of the present invention will be described hereinafter with reference to Figure 1, in which a side view of a plant 50 for packaging granular products in corresponding bags is schematically illustrated.
The plant 50 includes, in particular, a bagging machine 30, suitable for receiving loose products coming from warehouses 2,3 to form and fill bags 1 in sequence with the aforementioned products, until the completion of production batches each consisting of a predefined number of bags. The bags 1 are then stacked in one or more pallets 6, by means of a special palletizing machine 60. Each batch is generally made up of one or more complete pallets.
Purely by way of non-exhaustive example, reference will be made in the illustrations and in the rest of the description to a plant 50 comprising two warehouses 2,3, each containing a different product to be packaged. However, it is understood that, for the purposes of the present invention, the number of warehouses provided in the plant can be arbitrary. In any case, it is extremely important that there is no contamination between the various products inside the bags, or that this contamination is contained in insignificant terms.
The operations of forming and filling the bags, their closing and their stacking on pallets are completely known and not related to the invention, or some innovative structural characteristics of the equipment that make them are in any case the subject of separate patent applications. These operations and structural characteristics, therefore, will not be further detailed in the following of this description.
The stuffing machine 30 receives the product to be packaged through a loading hopper 31, the upper part of which protrudes from the top of the machine 30. Known first means for weighing the bags 35 are associated with the hopper 31, substantially constituted by a weighing machine of the type load cell, schematized in figures 2 to 5. The first weigher 35 is intended to weigh the bag 1 being filled to provide information in real time on the actual quantity of product already introduced into the bag itself, and to define thus the closing moment of the hopper mouth 31.
This information is transmitted to a control computer 40, equipped with a suitable software for managing the packaging operations. The processor 40 is in turn adapted to command the opening and closing of the loading mouth 36 of the hopper to pour the product into the bag 1.
In the same figures, the stuffing machine 30 is further schematized for reasons of simplicity and clarity of illustration. They only include the loading hopper 31 and the forming members 37, transport 38 and closing 39 of the bag 1, in the various operating positions.
The product is fed from the warehouses 2,3 to the loading hopper 31 by means of ducts 10,20, which flow into the upper part of the hopper 31 itself.
According to a first and preferred embodiment of the invention, illustrated in Figures 1 to 5, in which the product is fed to the hopper 31 by gravity, the packaging plant 50 provides a device 100 for controlling the feeding and dosage of the products to be packaged. The device 100 comprises, for each magazine 2,3, a corresponding outlet valve Vu1, Vu2, intended to intercept the flow of product from the relative magazine 2,3 on command of the control computer 40. In this regard, they are preferably consisting of solenoid valves of suitable size and mechanical characteristics, and are electrically connected to the aforementioned processor 40.
The outlet valves Vu1, Vu2 are mounted between the outlet mouth of the relative magazines 2,3 and the proximal end 10a, 20a of the ducts 10,20.
At the distal end 10b, 20b of the ducts 10,20 there are also means of interception of the feed Va, also controlled by the control processor 40 and intended to intercept the flow of product towards the hopper 31 in cooperation with the outlet valves Vu1, Vu2. In particular, in the present first embodiment, the supply shut-off means Va consist of a pair of separate and independent supply valves Va1, Va2, mounted at the head of the respective ducts 10,20.
The device 50 of the invention also provides second weighing means 32, associated with the loading hopper 31, electrically connected to the processor 40 and intended to provide it with periodic or continuous information regarding the weight of the product contained in the same hopper 31. The aforementioned second weighing means 32 also consist of a weigh cell of the load cell type, mounted on supports 34 of the hopper 31.
The process for controlling the feeding and dosing of granular products to the bagging machine 30 according to the invention comprises, for each lot of bags 1, a sequence of operating phases relating to the release of the product to be packaged from a relative warehouse 2 to the loading hopper 31. During the execution and timing of the aforementioned operating phases, the aforementioned management software operating on the computer 40 is supervised, based on the number of bags in each lot and the quantity of product to be introduced into each bag . For greater clarity, reference will be made below, by way of example, to a lot of 80 bags of a granular product contained in warehouse 2.
The computer 40 also supervises, in a fully known way, the operations of forming, filling and closing the bag 1. One of the advantages of the invention is in fact given by the fact that the implementation of the procedure does not involve the € ™ use of additional control means with respect to those already provided for conventional bagging functions.
The packaging operation, in the preferred but not exclusive embodiment, will be described below starting from an initial situation schematized in figure 2, in which both the outlet valves Vu1, Vu2 and the supply valves Va1, Va2 are closed, and there is no product inside the hopper 31.
The first phase of the procedure involves the control of the opening of the first outlet valve Vu1 and of the first supply valve Va1 by the processor 40 (see figure 3), in order to deliver the product contained in the first warehouse 2 to the hopper 31. The quantity of product present in the hopper 31 is constantly monitored by the same processor 40 by means of the second weigher 32. The processor 40 then starts the normal operations of filling the bags 1, acting on the outlet mouth of the hopper 31 and on the first outlet valve Vu1 of the first magazine 2, so as to maintain in the hopper 31 a certain quantity of product, typically equivalent to the content of 3 or 4 bags.
When the number of bags 1 of the batch already filled approaches the completion of the batch itself, and for example reaches 75 bags, the processor 40 modulates the opening of the outlet valves Vu1 and supply valves Va1, in so as to regulate the flow of product towards the hopper 31. In particular, the feed valve Va1 is initially closed, while the outlet valve Vu1 is choked, so as to considerably reduce the flow of product leaving the warehouse 2 (see figure 4). Subsequently, the opening of the supply valve Va1 is partialized (figure 5), and at the same time the product content inside the hopper 31 is monitored until it approaches the quantity necessary to complete the batch, or at a slightly higher quantity, defined as a minimum value sufficient to compensate for the tolerances present in the actuation times of the valves and in the weight measurement by device 100. At this point, the complete closure of the supply valve Va1 and the outlet valve Vu1 is commanded . In the hopper 31 there is therefore the exact quantity of product sufficient to fill the missing bags at the completion of the batch or, at most, a modest residue that can be empirically quantified in a few tens or a few hundred grams of product.
The packaging plant 50 is now ready for the packaging of a further batch of bags 1, for example with the product contained in the second warehouse 3. The procedure is therefore repeated exactly like the one already described above, with the ™ actuation of the second output valves Vu2 and supply Va2.
A second embodiment of the invention is illustrated in figure 6, and relates to a type of plant 50 in which a forced feeding of the products to the hopper 31 is provided, by means of pneumatic conveyor members 70. The latter essentially comprise a blowing or suction pump, which can be operated by the control processor according to pre-established timings, when it is necessary to convey the product inside the terminal portion 25 towards the hopper 31. This system configuration is usually adopted when the outlets of the warehouses 10,20 are positioned at a lower level than the hopper 31, and the product cannot therefore be fed by gravity.
In this case the ducts 10, 20 have a common terminal portion 25, connected to the pump 70 and bearing, at the opposite end, means of interception of the supply Va consisting of a single supply valve.
The method for controlling the supply and dosage according to the invention, in said second embodiment, provides that the modulation phase of the opening of the outlet valves Vu1 and supply Va initially includes the partial closure of the valve Vu1 outlet to reduce the flow of product inside the duct 10 and the total closure of the supply valve Va.
Subsequently, the feed valve Va is opened, partially or totally, for predetermined periods of time, on command of the control processor 40, according to the information received from the second weigher 32 regarding the residual content of product in the loading hopper 30 and the number of remaining bags 1 to be filled to complete the batch. The Vu1 outlet valve is then closed when the exact quantity of product sufficient to complete the filling of the last bag of the batch is released.
It is understood that the above has been described purely by way of non-limiting example. Therefore, possible modifications and variants of the invention are considered to fall within the protective scope accorded to the present technical solution, as described above and claimed hereinafter.
