Abstract

1423032 Bearings ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 12 Jan 1973 [15 Jan 1972] 1708/73 Heading F2A A bearing bush 1 of plastics material, which is to be inserted in an opening 11 in a bearing body 2, has a plurality of spaced retaining shoulders 7 and a plurality of stop lugs 6 for holding the bush in the body. The retaining shoulders 7 project radially with respect to the outer surface 5 of the bush which is to fit in the opening and are such that they will engage one side 9 of the body. The stop lugs 6 are to engage the other side of the body and each lug is disposed axially opposite to a recess which is formed in and through one of or between adjacent shoulders, each recess having cross-sectional dimensions corresponding to the dimensions of the surface of lug which is to engage the body. The radially outer portions of the shoulders may be connected to form a continuous peripheral annular flange, and the lugs may be in the form of segments of an annular ring. Axially extending ribs (12, Fig. 3, not shown) may be provided in the surface of the bush to engage in corresponding recesses in the opening in the body to prevent the bush rotating relative to the body. The bush may also be provided with a radially projecting arm (21, Fig. 5, not shown) on at least one of the shoulders, the end of the arm carrying a member having a stop lug engageable in a corresponding recess in the body to prevent relative rotation of the bush and body. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 11, not shown) two shoulders are joined to form a rectangular flange, there being axially extending projections from the shorter edges each carrying a stop lug. The bushes are made by injection moulding.
