Gli scompensi cardiocircolatori a cui il paziente é soggetto durante le operazioni di trasporto sanitario sono spesso causati dalle accelerazioni inerziali dovute alle brusche variazioni di direzione e di velocità del veicolo, oltre che allo stato del fondo stradale ed al funzionamento del motore. Al fine di ridurre le accelerazioni sul paziente il dispositivo di sostentamento per barella realizzato ed illustrato schematicamente in figura 2, è dotato di due diversi sistemi agenti rispettivamente in un piano verticale ed in un piano orizzontale. La sospensione verticale è real izzata mediante un parallelogramma articolato su cerniere e sostenuto da una molla ad aria (f ig.3) . La sospensione orizzontale è stata ottenuta montando il portabarella su di un carrello scorrevole su una coppia di guide che possono essere curve o rettilinee. Questo sistema è a sua vol ta montato su di una coppia di guide rettilinee o curve perpendicolari alle precedenti (f ig .4) . La combinazione dei movimenti sulle guide genera un moto che, nel caso di impiego di guide curve, può essere assimilato al moto di un pendolo sf erico . In questo modo le accelerazioni agenti nel piano orizzontale (direzione trasversale x e longitudinale y) vengono trasformate in accelerazioni aventi anche una componente verticale meno dannosa per il paziente, riducendo così lo stress da trasporto . Il funzionamento del meccanismo è assicurato dalla forza inerziale prodotta dalla massa del paziente; non sono quindi richieste fonti esterne d i energia . In this way the accelerations acting in the horizontal plane (transverse x and longitudinal y direction) are transformed into accelerations also having a vertical component less harmful for the patient, thus reducing transport stress. The functioning of the mechanism is ensured by the inertial force produced by the patient's mass; therefore no external energy sources are required.
