In a device for unlocking and locking motor vehicle doors, in the case of which device lock actuating elements are arranged in each case on the individual doors, it is proposed to arrange a selectively functioning coupling device in such a manner that, in the event of locking the vehicle door centrally from outside with a key, opening by actuation of the door button mechanisms is ruled out; if, on the other hand, the central locking position is achieved by pressing-in of door button mechanisms and driving, resulting from this pressing-in, of a first lifting rod (B) which moves electrical control switches for the pump actuation, this results in such a (temporary) coupling with the first lifting rod that the transfer into the unlocked state is also possible by means of door button actuation. <IMAGE>
