Claims

1. Climbing shoe (1) comprising: an upper (2) which is shaped to accommodate substantially the entire foot of the user; a sole (3) made of polymeric material, which is fixed to the bottom (4) of the upper (2) in such a way as to cover at least the front part of the bottom (4) of said upper (2); one or more elastic tensioning bands (10, 11), which are firmly fixed to the upper (2) in such a way as to embrace and tighten the upper (2) on the foot of the user; a stiffening insert (5), which is fixed to the front part of the bottom (4) of the upper (2), underneath the sole (3), in such a way as to locally stiffen the footwear; and manually operated closing means (18), which are suitable for closing the upper (2) on the foot of the user;

the climbing shoe (1) being characterised by the fact that said stiffening insert (5) has a monolithic plate-like structure with differentiated rigidity.

Climbing shoe according to claim 1, wherein the stiffening insert (5) is equipped with a central sector (6) which has a substantially rigid structure, and an external annular sector (7), which surrounds and connects seamlessly to said central sector (6) and has a structure elastically deformable to bending stresses.

3. Climbing shoe according to claim 2, wherein the central sector (6) of the stiffening insert (5) is shaped in the form of a substantially oblong drop.

4. Climbing shoe according to claim 2 or 3, wherein the stiffening insert (5) has a monolithic plate-like structure with variable thickness, wherein the thickness assumes the maximum value in correspondence with one or more points positioned in the central sector (6) of said insert, and assumes the minimum value in correspondence with one or more points positioned in the external annular sector (7) of the same insert.

5. Climbing shoe according to claim 4, wherein the maximum thickness of the stiffening insert (5) is equal to or greater than double the minimum thickness.

6. Climbing shoe according to claim 4 or 5, wherein the minimum thickness of the stiffening insert (5) is less than 1.8 mm and/or the maximum thickness of the stiffening insert (5) is greater than 3 mm.

7. Climbing shoe according to claim 4, 5 or 6, wherein the point or points where the stiffening insert (5) has the minimum thickness are positioned on the perimeter edge of the same insert.

8. Climbing shoe according to any of claims 2 to 7, wherein the stiffening insert (5) is equipped with one or more weakening notches (8), which are made on the perimeter edge of the external annular sector (7), close to the tip of the upper (2).

9. A climbing shoe according to claim 8, wherein the stiffening insert (5) is provided with a pair of weakening notches (8) positioned on opposite sides of the longitudinal centre line of the insert.

Climbing shoe according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the stiffening insert (5) is provided with a front loboidal portion and a rear loboidal portion, which connect to each other substantially without interruption; the front loboidal portion extending close to the front section (4a) and the central section (4b) of the bottom (4) of the upper (2); the rear loboidal portion extending close to the central section (4b) of the same bottom (4) only.

11. Climbing shoe according to claim 10, wherein the front loboidal portion of the stiffening insert (5) covers at least 70% of the front section (4a) of the bottom (4) of the upper (2).

12. Climbing shoe according to claim 11, wherein the tip of the front loboidal portion of the stiffening insert (5) has a shape substantially complementary to that of the front section (4a) of the bottom (4) of the upper (2).

13. Climbing shoe according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the stiffening insert (5) has an arched profile.

14. Climbing shoe according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the stiffening insert (5) is made of plastic or composite material.
