E’ noto e famoso in tutto il mondo un prodotto di disegno industriale italiano: la caffettiera moka ideata da Luigi De Ponti e Alfonso Bialetti nel 1933 e prodotta successivamente in più di 105 milioni di esemplari. Ancora in produzione, il prodotto è sempre rimasto invariato nella sua totalità e la sua produzione è rimasta in Italia sino al 2010 quando, a seguito della chiusura dello stabilimento di Crusinallo, è stata trasferita a Ploie<ști>in Romania. Sono note nella tecnica modifiche applicate ai singoli componenti della caffettiera moka, per migliorarne e ottimizzarne le prestazioni: in particolare, come ad esempio nel brevetto IT1390735, è descritta una caffettiera dotata di un complesso sistema dosatore integrato nella caffettiera tipo moka.
