Oggigiorno è noto l'utilizzo di imbragature in ambito sportivo, come ad esempio nella arrampicata, nell'alpinismo, nella speleologia, nel torrentismo e nella vela, ed in ambito lavorativo, quando il lavoratore è esposto al pericolo di cadute dall'alto.
