Abstract
A mixture of hydrocarbons is prepared by a hydrocracking step which is carried out in the presence of a supported catalyst. The catalyst contains a carrier of an acid nature having a calcined gel of silica-alumina amorphous to X-rays; and noble metal(s) of groups 8, 9 or 10 of the periodic table, deposited on the carrier in 0.05-5 wt.%. Preparation of a mixture of hydrocarbons which can be used as middle distillate fuel starting from a mixture of linear hydrocarbons containing at least 20% of a high-boiling fraction with a distillation temperature of over 370 degrees C, includes a hydrocracking step where the mixture of linear hydrocarbons is heated in the presence of hydrogen at 250-450 degrees C and a total pressure of 0.5-15 MPa for a time to convert at least 40% of the high-boiling fraction into a fraction of hydrocarbons which can be distilled at a temperature lower than 370 degrees C. The hydrocracking step is carried out in the presence of a supported catalyst comprising: (i) a carrier on an acid nature containing a calcined gel of silica-alumina amorphous to X-rays, having a molar ratio (silicon dioxide (SiO2)/aluminum oxide (Al2O3)) between silica and alumina of 30-500, a surface area of 500-1000 m2/g, a porosity of 0.2-0.8 ml/g, and an average pore diameter of 10-40 x 10 power -10 m (between 10-40 Angstrom); and (ii) noble metal(s) of groups 8, 9 or 10 of the periodic table, deposited on the carrier in 0.05-5 wt.%.
