Abstract

The continuous process for hyperactivation of sterilizing fluids of known type operates in phases. Sterilizing fluid solution (9) is mixed with a gas such as compressed air (4) inert with respect to the fluid to give a two-phase gas/liquid mixture. The liquid of the mixture is evaporated (11) to form a gaseous mixture and is then blown onto the material to be sterilized. The gas/liquid mixture is fed through a steam heated tubular evaporator (11,12) with the liquid phase passing slowly over the hot walls compared to the gas phase moving rapidly through the center of the tube. An independent claim is included for a sterilizing process using peracetic acid as the sterilizing liquid (9) in the system detailed above.
