Abstract

This invention relates to a process for the preparation of polymer microspheres through the use of supercritical fluids (SCF). The process comprises a stage in which the liquid solution with a variable concentration of polymer, preferably the ester of an acid polysaccharide, is swollen by supercritical solvent. The technique, known as precipitation induced by a supercritical antisolvent (SAS), makes it possible to incorporate drugs of particular interest in the biomedical field into microspheres as systems for delivery of the drugs, and contrast agents and carriers for use in the diagnostic field.
