Abstract
The subject of this invention finds application in the sector of products for domestic animals. It is known that the litters now in use have a number of defects: little absorbing power, high dust content, inability to retain unpleasant odours present in the urine of animals. The litter in question essentially comprises material of plant origin (such as herbaceous plants, the leaves of trees, etc.) as well as peat or mixtures of plant materials and peat having as a finished product a moisture content of between 10 and 15% and a pH of between 5.5 and 6.5. This litter is characterized in that preparation of the starting plant material and/or peat and/or mixtures includes processes of drying, comminution, mixing, the possible addition of adhesive and perfumed substances and finally pressure compaction into the form of pellets (or other shapes).
