Abstract

A device for the zigzag folding of flexible material, in the shape of a continuous ribbon or individual sheets, comprises a pair of parallel and opposite rollers, respectively having at least one clamping element and at least one comblike element arranged along directrices parallel to the axes of the corresponding rollers, the folding of the material being achieved by the joint action of the comblike element situated at a first roller and the clamping element situated at a second roller. The device provides means of moving the comblike element between a position essentially retracted relative to the surface of the roller and a projecting position able to allow the co-operation of the comblike element with the corresponding clamping element at the opposite roller. <IMAGE>
